  1. It's a direct drive gear set. Crank has one gear and the cam has one gear. No floaters or any other wear out items. 145K, ouch, how could you do that to a baby
  2. Besides, the old school Subes use a front E-brake. They could still be dragging but the drum theory doesn't apply. Do you let the car warm up before you go? May just be a little tired and once it warms then all the seals start to seal and direct pressure in the right direction. Take the front wheels off and check the E-brake cables for movement. Make sure they are smooth in operation. You'll probably need a helper so you can watch how they work with the hand brake lever.
  3. Is your XT a DL model by any chance? It really shouldn't matter though. If it is where it should be look here. When you open the door look at the left front corner of the drivers seat. Then look straight down to the floor. Along the door sill plastic covers there should be a small handle. If it isn't there try pulling that cover and looking for the cable as Rob suggested. If the handle is broken you can pull one from the junk yard.
  4. Use your old Hitachi fuel inlet on the Weber. May have to tap it, but it is standard pipe thread. Yes, I would say it is neccessary. It allows excess fuel out of the system instead of overflowing the float. The regulator is helpful as well. I run mine on the Brat at 3.5-4.5 depending on what I'm doing. But... I don't have one on the Hatch. It does have the return line set up though.
  5. I made a deal with all of my kids. If you carry a B or better and stay out of trouble I'll buy your 1st car. Both of my eldest children have/had accomplished this. My Daughter played Volleyball and my Son played Basketball and Football(started in both on Varsity) and carried a 3.58 accumulative gpa( 4yr average). So yeah, I cut him a bit of a break. So, yeah, it's a mutual aggreement. Caleb is right. I scored some of the repair parts from him when it got backed into. Rick, not on YOUR life. I may make it peppy but not fast by any means. I know what fast cars will do in a teenaged boys (or girls for that matter) hands. Yes, I am speaking from experience. If they want to get into rallyX or something then we'll talk but it is just too expensive to play on the street at their age now.
  6. Yeah, we saw you go by. The wife was driving then. You probably wouldn't have caught up if I could have stayed awake to drive But, she did a fine job getting us home in one piece.
  7. Computer maybe? SPFI to Carb to Turbo, have you changed out the computer each time?
  8. I don't know about the intake. I will find out the best way to go when he gets a job and starts paying for the stuff himself. I think I have put enough into it at this point. Aero kit Wheels Tires Rear discs Clutch Belts and maintenance.
  9. EBay a while back. They ended up being 4X140 Pugs. I had to rework the hubs to get them to fit. First time it ever took all day to install a set of tires
  10. Weird, I always thought the Loyale was the low end GL It does have the standard ammenities. Power steering, windows, locks and mirrors. Also has A/C but it doesn't work. You wouldn't have rubbing issues with a 4WD. Plus the Enke's are Pug issue so the offset is alot different. I'll add a front stance shot soon. It's really wide, wider than my Hatch even.
  11. Well... it's an Imposter for a few reasons. 1) It's a GL 2) It's 2wd 3) SPFI It's my eldest sons and is one of the few 3drs I actually like. I think it has to do with the color, kit and the wheels. I had to install 4WD coil overs in the rear to accomodate the tireswheels which are 195/60R14's and Enke's. Now to get him a job so he can have it repainted and then we'll get to work at massaging a little power out of the SPFI.
  12. Here is the Imposter. For the rest of the pics check out my Album
  13. Here's a link from one of the numerous gear ratio posts. post There's more info on this. Do a search for gear ratios in all open forums. 1+pages of responses.
  14. There shouldn't be unless it is a FT4WD or from an RX. If it is it will have a 3.70 final ratio. The gear to gear ratio's are different. 1st gear is similar and they basically fill the gaps between the rest of the gears.
  15. Mike, and everyone else, yes, they fit. Not to a tee but they fit good enough to not have a problem with it. Mine got "treated" and is quite slippery. I installed a cargo net also to keep the little things from flying around. Check it out next time you're down Mike.
  16. Sorry but no. She is just starting to know who everyone is. It will take a bit longer for her to learn the cars as well. I'm just real happy that she comes along and watches and wants to take pics. And she is even learning how to drive the Suburban/trailer combo. Good thing too. I was real tired after running two events and not getting much sleep the night before(I hate sleeping in hotels) so she drove home from the Washington side of the border.
  17. The hinges are very easy to replace. They consist of two stamped steel arms. One on each side. They are held on with two bolts on the hood and one bolt under the cowling cover. Remove the cover and remove the single bolt from each side and slip them out. Removal of the hood first will make it much easier.
  18. My wife was taking pics. Unfortunately I forgot to recharge the batteries so we didn't get alot. Not quite the 50 footers that Paul was shooting but not bad.
  19. Thanks, I used a 4 1/2" grinder with cut-off wheels. Dremel tool to clean everything up.
  20. Hitachi distributors have a drain hole in them. As long as it isn't plugged you'll get all the air needed from there. There is supposed to be a rubber gasket that seals the cap anyway.
  21. Hey Todd, they are kind of scattered. Most of the time we were a little busy driving. But the video is getting close to completion. Get ahold of Eric and he'll get you taken care of. Ken
  22. Heres my Brat with a scoop from a Mustang II. Hood vents I did mine this way for a couple of reasons. First and formost was to relieve heat in the engine compartment while we were in the Sierra's this summer.
