  1. If it pings check timing. Either bad gas, stretched belts or bad/worn tune up parts will cause this. If it has been going on for a while check parts. If it just started after fueling up check bad fuel.
  2. First, your hatred for the 2.5 is showing. All the symptoms are classic radiator. Period. You already said the gaskets look to have been done. If they were bad or badly done they would be either leaking externally or internally which would result in steam from the exhaust. Several people told you the radiator. Yet, you replaced the thermostat. The thermostat is inexpensive. But, had you taken the advice given you would be done...
  3. Gary, quit throwing parts at it. Many people have told you the problem and solution. Don't be one of those people. The ones that ask a question they do not know the answer for then question all the answers. REPLACE THE RADIATOR!
  4. You guys kill me. Show me one mechanic that works for free and I will show you a broke and hungry mechanic. Thousands and thousands of dollars worth of tools, training and overhead. How do you suppose he pays for all of that? By doing jobs for free?
  5. A lightweight flywheel works very well in a moodded Impreza. 4 cylinder motors do not have a problem with a lightened flywheel. If you drive comservative then a lightened FW is not for you. If you want quicker revs and improved throttle response then it is. You will find that it will not lug the lower rpm's like a stock FW. If you do not have any other mods or do not plan to do mods then I would recommend against it. <This post written without the use of emoticons>
  6. Good information. All of you should follow this... as an example of how to post, and how to find information about local wheeling. The best advice is to only wheel at designated ORV areas. Walker Valley, Reiter pits, Evans Creek, elbe Hills, Tahuya... At least that way you know you are legal and do not jeopardize my ability to wheel.
  7. He deleted his post because some self-appointed welcome committee thought it would be a good idea to berate a new member asking a question that he obviously did not understand. I have been in email contact with the new member. He may or may not be back... Replies such as the above examples are perfect for training people that you do not have to reply to everything. Now, I lock this and send it to no-count land!
  8. I see you work for a dealer. What is it, exactly, that you would like from here?
  9. Every so often the little line that holds the cap will get caught between the cap and fill tube. This will cause a code. If it pops up again, check that. Make sure you clear that line when you get fuel.
  10. Good luck with that! Call me when that fails! I am not sure if they even remember that motor any more.
  11. Check the vacuum lines going from the engine compartment to the passenger compartment for leaks. Check the control itself for broken parts. Start the car and listen for vacuum leaks(whistling) in the passenger compartment. Good luck.
  12. GAWD, it would have taken less time to answer the question... Posts that actually help the OP will be allowed!
  13. Easy man. Brag all you want. But, this is a tough crowd and pics are usually mandatory. My shot was not at you as much as at the Ranger who told you that. Talk it up all you want. Just be ready to show it too. Lot's of wanna-bees out there. Got to seperate them. The bar has been set.
  14. It would only have a slanted console if someone swapped it out.
  15. It just looked funny in the pic. I missed the dealer installed, thanks. That could explain it I guess. I would still like to see a pic of the interior and console specifically.
  16. For a long time. I think they are still available even.
  17. How many D/R turbo 5sp's have you seen in 1985, in a wagon?
  18. Yes, as described above. The hatch cover must be removed to access the mounting screws.
  19. Anyone else notice the 5sp push button shifter with the dual range shifter as well. Am I seeiing things or is it really there? Hey Pink, can you give us a better shot of the shifters?
  20. You are all out of line! Rick, stop preaching! Brian, just stop. Cobb, follow your own advice!
  21. First, the wagon is very nice. Tex would love to have it! The rest of you haters... I am going to start deleting posts that are purely EA82T hate filled posts. I for one am tired of them. They fail just like any other engine. If you neglect something it will fail. If you maintain it, it will last. And price, tsk, tsk, don't beat him up because he paid more than you would. He is comfortable with it, so be it!
  22. And what makes you think the Ranger knows what Subaru has been on what trail in that system. We have been on most of them over the years! I probably have pics to prove it somewhere... Zap, you got pics of it?
