  1. Bonney Lake, in the boonies because I can't walk to a 7-11.
  2. Let's try a different approach. How much oil do you put in when you change the oil?
  3. Actually, I have been told that the STi dipstick is shorter. It allows for more oil than the standard 2.5 liter dipsticks. They run a 1 qt. larger capacity from what I have been told. I have not seen it with my own eyes. But my Subaru parts guru tells me that they do have a different part number and hold more oil.
  4. Actually, a lot of old GM stuff ran 4.11-4.10. It is more than fine.
  5. It may have been upgraded over the years. It may have the bigger one because of the turbo. The bigger one will hold better.
  6. Pics came through just fine here as well.
  7. Check out the FAQ at the top of the offroad page. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=24980
  8. What shop? A simple resurface that is done incorrectly can cause premature failure. The early 2.5 didn't have an issue. They had piston slap. Depending on maintenance and service history is whether or not it is worth repairing or replacing.
  9. Thanks man, Actually, Travis is a really nice guy. We were in the car for about 20-30 minutes. I have had several long conversations with him over the last 4-5 yrs. Typical Olympus Rally. Rainy and crappy in Tahola. Sun came out and got wind/sun burned a litlle in South Bend. Started with 51 cars and ended with about 34. Good memories from this one.
  10. You will have to contact him via email. He hasn't been here in 11 months...
  11. It did come with it. About half were replaced with non-adjustable after market struts. Fixed it.
  12. The '87 does have height adjustable unless it was replaced at some point in the past. If it had broken torsion bars it would not be driving down any roads let alone a gravel road at speed. Broken torsion bars mean broken, sagging, on the bump stop suspension.
  13. BFG A/T's, hands down. They are a truck tire and have better sidewall protection. The Firestones are car tires designed for the street. Zero sidewall protection. And, why would someone take an SVX off road?
  14. Sounds like you answered all of your own questions. While the suspension was not designed for luxury by any means it shouldn't beat you unless it is in need of replacement. New shocks/struts are available but getting harder to find. Tires contribute a lot to comfort of drive. But, the softer the tire the less life it will have off-road.
  15. He didn't reference not spending money on his car. He asked if he should make the suspension better. To do so you have to spend money on it. To make the suspension better you would not stack stuff on the roof to do so.
  16. Yes, door for 4dr and wagons. Subs and boom box speakers in the rear hatch area.
  17. Only good for specialty BRAT parts. Anything else could be found cheap. If you cam get it for under $100 I would buy it as a parts BRAT.
  18. You can not hard shift these transmissions. The syncros are weak. It acted like nothing happened because it cooled back down. It will only do this a few times before it grenades.
  19. CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHY IT IS SO HARD TO SPELL THAT WORD ON THE INTERNET! Seriously! As far as the car goes. Put the motor in. Less work and you'll have a car that is worth ~$1000.00 maybe more depending on condition. Part it out will take a lot of effort and time to remove parts, ship them if so inclined. And you already said you really do not want to put a bunch of energy into this. I would probably try to sell it for a couple of hundred dollars as is and get out from under it.
  20. 2 solutions are to have a y-pipe built or to find a used one from a member near to you. I have had them built in the past, with and without cats.
  21. And what does that have to do with the OP questions or statements. Post count addition maybe...
