  1. The restrooms/showers are located in the consession stand area. The entrance for the show is before the regular entrance to the park. Right on the second corner. It will be very convenient.
  2. Oh yeah, stay away from the old EA cars. They can't go fast or beat anything. Except... that they can win open class. They can set fastest laps and win overall 1st place. Beating everything from 323GTX, STi's, WRX's, alltrac's, (insert your favorite vehicle here). This Brat has won truck class over and over again. It has won open class events 4 times. Set fast lap at two events and just pissed everyone off most of the time. Now, granted, this is not a stock Brat. The motor has been rebuilt and modified. Has between 130 and 150 hp. Is running a 5sp D/R trans. Stock torsion bar suspension with a RX rear sway bar added. KYB rear shocks and AC/Delco front struts running stock springs. And an open rear diff just to make things fair, lol! You results will vary. Morale of the story... anything will work. The best thing you can do is find a front wheel drive rig first. Learn to drive that. Then go to rear wheel drive and learn to drive that. Then after you feel you have mastered both of those take some driving lessons. Then race for a year or two even. Then you can think of buying an AWD vehicle and running that. This schedule will take a couple of years but you will be a much better driver afterwards. BTW, I now run a '96 Impreza Brighton. I run in Modified 4wd/AWD(M4) and am one of top finishers for the past two seasons. I finished 2nd overall for the 2006 Oregon rallycross series in M4. Not bragging, just adding to show I may have some idea what I am talking about. The most important thing is to get out there and have fun with it. Then you can start thinking about stage rally if that is your aspiration.
  3. I will have to disagree with this one.(sorry) I have a '96 Brighton AWD MT 1.8(stock form) Now, it is a 2.5 w/4.11 ratio diffs beast with rear discs from a Legacy and is an absolute animal. I have less into it than a decent '97 and newer "L" Impreza. The biggest bonus for using a Brighton is that there are fewer options. No sunroof hole to fill. No extra weight from the electric accys. My car weighs in +/- 26oo lbs. It is power to weight ratios that seperate winning and losing in most situations. The last rallyX I entered we posted times that were 5 seconds faster than any other competitor irregardless of class. We run in M4(modified 4WD/AWD). So yes, it does matter what you start with. Good luck. You'll probably want to do some extensive research on what you are getting into. You can't just show up at a rally and run a car. Rally cross yes, but not rally. There are lots of rules and regulations that have to be followed to the letter to qualify.
  4. What's up man? Never met Maurcel. I know Rob and he still hasn't been on a run with us. Seems like a fitting death to die behind the shop. Things in life are cyclical. But they also change and morph into bigger and better things. Besides, there is always the show to go to.(News and announcements soon)
  5. Now I am really bummed to not be going.
  6. I believe it is a 6mm. You may be able to rent a valve adjusting tool from a parts store. There are many different types/designs out there that will do the trick. Just tell them you need one that has a 12mm locknut and a 6mm adjuster.
  7. That's cool. Talk to you soon.
  8. Thursday the 1st at Trotters in Auburn. Starts at 7:00pm. Email or pm me for other details.

    Hatch Patrol?

All the new and younger members who have heard the stories and seen the pics and video'sare bothered by the transition we have made. We all still own Subaru's. We race them, offroad them and daily drive them. Just because we have chosen a different path in our wheeling is no reason to bash everything else on the trail. Our club, group, whatever you want to call us has always had an open policy to wheel with anyone. We wanted to be sure that we were not elitests. We welcomed all vehicles and people. Even those who had never had a vehicle offroad. It was very trying at times but we stuck to our original thoughts. Some of our members have gone other directions. Some of our members have done good and bad things for the community. El toro may have the best idea. Go and start your own groups and clubs. Start your own legacies and histories. Learn from us if you so choose. The Hatch Patrol will live forever. But it just may not be in the way most of you want it to be. I have hours a footage and piles of pics to remember our role in forging a new history for our community. Just remember to keep an order and treat other groups with respect on the trails and in the community. You may find that you will need their help some day, just as they may need your help as well. Make us proud!

    Hatch Patrol?

Ken thinks that would be a really bad idea.
  11. The biggest difference I can see is that your state and it's residents got a late start on this whole issue. The NW ORV/OHV community has been governing itself for years. We still have issues as well. It isn't all about Minnesota and then the rest of the U.S. looking to follow suit. The "green" group doesn't understand that we go in and clean up the area's. Groom the trails. Rebuild bridges, build and provide signage and education for all. This issue needs to stop being us against them and start being everyone for the cooperative use of the environment. Most of the wheelers I have ever met are responsible users and clean up as they go. That has always been our club motto as well. The answer may lie in private land ownership. Maybe even clubs joining together and buying the lands and maintaining them. Attend a local rally and speak your mind logically and maturely to your own politicians. It is the only way to keep the lands open and accessible to all.
  12. As a resident and ORV owner this is very important. I hope all take the chance to act on this.
  13. It's OK Connie. Unfortunately, after spending time in the '6 you may find that the old EA isn't what it used to be. Fixed what's broke and keep him for a backup. You may find that the next step is into a EJ series vehicle as well. Don't be afraid though. It is even better than the original. Those that will argue have never owned a good Impreza or Legacy. Don't give up on your "Bucky" though. He has been a good companion through rough times. And will be there to back you up again. Ken
  14. I told you so! Very nice. The car seems to be working out quite well for you. Glad you got it.
  15. Tubbing is not the answer. Relocate the front end forward. Did it on the Brat. Pretty easy actually. Moved mine forward 2 1/2". No problem with hitting again.
  16. Designed to be used with the turbo jack. The blue one doesn't fit, IIRC.
  17. Funny, I have one of those "bad" EJ22 Legacy's too. 1993 wagon, 4eat with 268K, original engine and transmission. Interference or non-interference makes no difference. They are both good engines. They produce adequate power for there size. Heaven forbid, you should actually follow the manufacturers recommendation for service and actually change the timing belts when they are supposed to be instead of when they just break. I am getting tired of this conversation from someone who doesn't own one. Thinks they are junk and doesn't plan on owning one. Then deal with that fact and quit b1tching about it(BGD). Your ramblings are non-educated and lacking any factual information or knowledge. I am glad you do not like the EJ22. It leaves more of them for those of us that do!!!!!
