  1. All the painters tape looks kind of funny. It is a great idea though. Looks like a great time. Hope our 2nd event of the year is as fun.
  2. ...and out a RS Just finished the '96 Brighton conversion. A learning experience for sure considerring I am an old skooler for sure. Resealed the motor and added a lightened flywheel to the mix. A 4.11/1 5sp from a Legacy along with the rear disc brakes. That conversion was even easier than the EA's. New GR2's with WRX springs along with a rear sway bar. Which may need to be upgraded as it seems a bit small. Happy so far but I have an appointment with the exhaust guy and then to get it tuned a little better.
  3. I do not know if they make them that small. I haven't seen an EZ out that small. Maybe replacement is the best decision. Get one from outside the rust belt.
  4. Have you checked the timing belts for tension? When was the last time they were changed?
  5. Guarranteed to break other tihngs for sure. They work like fuses when you hit things to hard. Better there then somewhere else.
  6. First thing I thought of is that it looks like a toilet.
  7. Without the O2 sensor these computer controlled engines have no reference to go by for fuel control. When they are unplugged or nonfunctional they go fat causing poor mileage and a number of other problems. That's why they are there! Temp sensors are the biggest cause of drivability problems of all. Idle, cruise and WOT issues can be attributed to a bad temp sensor. A code check should reveal these issues.
  8. The blue collar alternative to the WRX and STi swaps!
  9. Will, you already have it. Be creative young man!
  10. Sorry for your loss. I lost mine two years ago. Glad to hear you are still among the living though. Had us all wondering.
  11. What color interior? I may have a loyale style cover but I do not know the color right now.
  12. I have yours on my tool box Tex. The bracket may be handy but the ignitor is here.
  13. Actually it does. '85 was the only year of EA82(non-XT) that was mounted weird.
  14. That's Sort of right, 10 minutes to align the clutch and install it into the car! Ideally, you have to be smarter than the tools you're using. Even the generic universal alignment tools work well if used correctly.
  15. No offense but... I have heard this before and it is an incredible waste of time. Unneccessary work and time that could be used for other things. The correct alignment tool and 10 minutes is all that is neccessary to install the engine or trans. You can ask anyone who has seen me install an engine how easy it is to do it the right way. I think you have seen me do one as well Rick.
  16. Beat me to it. BTW, the XT6 flywheel isn't aluminum, it is cast just like all the other ones. The steps are the same on both flywheels.(EA81 is different) The difference is in the the plate and the discs are the same I believe. Also, who in the heck said the Impreza clutch would work?
  17. First off, what do you want from the cam? Why are you going for cams? I have a good idea why but just want to make sure. As far as vacuum, I don't remember. Talk to Scott, tell him I sent you. May or may not get you better deal or service. Plus let's them know I keep sending them business since they have sponsored me in the past.

    WEBER help

The carb will fit without issue. The clearance problems come from the filter. Most people have to use the thinner 1" filter rather than the 2" filter that comes with the kit.
  20. We too own a Lab. He is a one yr old Lab/setter mix. Beautiful dog which has the typical look I'm an idiot appearance that als most all labs and setters have. Don't be fooled, he is as my Husky/Shepard. Most of the time dogs chew out of boredom. This happens when they are chained and not allowed to interact with their humans. What the hell do they have to do then? He started life as a chewer. I think it was because he was seperated too early from Mom. But never the less, he did chew. He loved shoes most of all. I didn't stand for it and it took longer to convince the daughther and wife that it isn't normal puppy behavior than it did the dog. We now provide him with other forms of amusement. Contact with people is the key to a good dog. But the dog also needs to understand that they are not the alpha in any and all situations. I have seem "bad" dogs become well behaved guardians in little or no time with attention and training. Some friends have a Pit that was used as a target and fight trainer all his life. He has the scars to prove it. Yet, he is the nicest dog you'd ever meet. This is due to the fact that his owners/friends have shown him love and trained him as to what is allowed and what is not. He is still a bit skiddish around people he doesn't know or recognize. My point is that the dogs want to be good. They want their owners to pat their heads and love them as much as they love their owners/friends. There are a few bad dogs but mostly there aree bad owners who either neglect or abuse their pets from ignorance or bad upbringing themselves. To say "shoot the dog" shows ignorance as well. Even if stated in a comic tone is wrong. All puppies should have some sort of obedience training and all owners should be required to attend it as well. And a car over a dog? Definitely not a Subaru. Maybe a classis or antique but not a car that you can buy for under $1000 most of the time. A life is more important than a material obsession.
