  1. Hmm, maybe... Jack and I have been talking about going up there. He has friends up there too. I'll talk to him.
  2. Can't wait to be back on the trail together again!
  3. Syncro issue. Will continue to get worse. Bushing issues would be like the old EA's that wouldn't go into gear. EJ bushings do not get that bad!
  4. Search him on you tube. He ac tually has a drifting video making fun of Block. Pretty bad-assed.
  5. All this chatter and no one saw the cracked valve seat... gasket slap is a horrible idea on any turbo motor. Shame on all of you for suggesting it!
  6. Asking this type of question here, with these cheapskates, is almost certainly suicide. Never gonna see the $30-35K that has been invested into this car. But, to the right person it will sell for a fair value. Probably not on this site but you will find a buyer.
  7. That's a good idea... You're probably right, but, he wouldn't be mad at me. I don't get credit for this mess.
  8. Sorry guys and gals, a little tongue in cheek humor... This what I found when I started disassembly of the next coupe. This motor was frozen. Over a gallon of coolant in the block. It had not been touched in a couple of years. Drained the fluids, pulled the plugs, sprayed "Yield" in the cylinders and 15 minutes later the rings were free and I was able to turn it over to remove the converter bolts.
  9. Struts, worn bushings are likely the problem here. Do you spend a lot of time on rough roads?
  10. Early maybe. I have been wrong a couple times before I believe the casting to be so though. Maybe, one of the historic guys will see this and correct both of us.
  11. By swapping the intake from the 1.8 to the 2.2 you will have zero wiring issues. Bolts right up. And you will run great with the ecu. You can not swap Legacy and Impreza ECU's so this would be a mute point any way!
  12. I agree with John. However, the trans is not lost. The pump can be repaired. I did this years ago. I was able to find used parts at a trans shop. Pulled it apart and replaced the broken pump drive. Hardest part was putting the planetaries back together. Not sure what a transmission shop would charge to replace the parts but might be cheaper than replacement.
  13. Nice rig. Congrats on the marriage. My guess is the air bag went off when the front bumper was hit. Then, probably bought at auction. Have fun with that one! Sidenote: Mine is almost trail ready again. Might as well be a new rig with everything I did to it.
  14. Synchro banter is not helping the OP with his problem. End of story. Back on topic. End of story!
  15. All early Subaru's I have owned have resistance over 5mph. Miles would be correct in my opinion. Having owned over 100 '84-'90 assorted models with over 90% of them being manuals I would think I may know what I am talking about. Food for thought. Now, back to the OP's question. 20 mpg is about average. O2 sensor will cause rich condition. Winter fuel will also cause some of your symptoms.
  16. I am sure. Not having to pay for insurance, state industrial, medical benefits for employees not to mention taxes, licenses and such. When one guy comes out and bashes another shops work always makes me wonder why he feels that he needs to do that... just saying due to the fact that the door was opened.
  17. Poor Jimmy. He is a good driver and nice guy. I wish them good luck in finding a replacement car and sponsor.
  18. The problem with posts of this type is definition. People's definition of wheeling is quite different. Knowing limits and the type of wheeling make it easier to express one's opinion.
  19. Nope, not everyone... someone of them even think it would be a good idea to bring back the ancient technology of the 80's... I lived them once. Really do not need to do that again!!
  20. Not neccessary to drop the engine. I have done over a dozen of these. A good set of "large" jack stands and a good floor jack and you are good to go. Easiest to do the rear first then the front.
