  1. I guess you've never seen a Nissan front diff before. Fabbing a solid rear is a bit more work than setting a front diff in the rear. Scott, the ratio's are 4.37 and 4.62 The front diff is a R180. Slightly larger housing. I am not sure if the overall dimensions are the same though. It may bolt up. A LSD center won't fit though as it is smaller than the Nissan center. I don't remember what the transfer ratio's are though. Sorry!
  2. Learn to drive it first. Mod it second. If you can't keep your car in control in all circumstances all the mods in the world will do you nothing. Not insulting your driving skills as I haven't seen you drive. But if you haven't been sideways before in your Subaru you will be needing more seat time. And I seriously recommend professionalk driving instruction of some kind. I have taken some and have benefitted from it.
  3. No, it is an upgrade. Mikey, come see me or get my number from Rob. Ken
  4. The dealer probably won't have access to the VIN. I would call and ask them though. Especially for a vehicle this old. A good locksmith can handcut a key for you if you can not access the passenger door lock cylinder.
  5. Gary, The XT/6 is a strange beast. I am dealing with a similar situation. What has probably happened is that on the bottom of the main slide is a plastic clip that guides the cable that moves the window up and down. Either the clip has broken or the cable itself has broken. You'll need to remove the door panel to verify which it is. It is a rather detailed series of things you must do to remove the window. Your FSM should help you here. The regulator is available through Subaru. I hear tell that the clips are as well. They break very easily so using a used one may be difficult. If you need any other questions answered PM me as I may or may not see additions to this post. Ken
  6. Update I went up to Greenwater Thursday morning. The snow is above the parking lot. If we get some more moisture it should move down. I stopped at the ranger station and they will be open on Friday, the 25th. I will be going back to get permits for me, Edrach, my inlaws, and Nephews. That will be the 5 that I can buy. There are ranger stations all over Puget Sound, just check the phone book.
  7. I would call first. I don't know if they will be open the holiday weekend. I will also check when I go up to get ours.
  8. Thanks buddy, but that's inhumane. My point is simple. To do the kind of damage that singletrack did he was either going too fast or didn't see an obstacle in his path.(or both) I have broken lift bolts, bent control arms and strut rods. Heck, even blew out both front tires at one time. I am not immune to breakage, but carnage, not unless I am being stupid!

    tires

26" tires on an '83 wagon will still require a small amount of trimming and maybe even a little pounding. The wheel wells just aren't as big as EA82 vehicles. 6 lug allows for a larger wheel and offset selection. You may need to verify that Ozified is still producing the 4/3 as I believe they had decided to offer the 3/3 for the EA81's.
  10. Don't worry Ed, I noted your sarcasm. That was just one reason I will not be attending.
  11. Uhmm, yeah! I have to give at least two weeks notice to get a vacation day.
  12. Ouch! With a little creativity and imagination you can come up with something functional and not completely ugly.
  13. Stay away from the muffler shop. What you want is a real welder. Some machine shops have them but the best place to find a welder who can weld a diff is a 4WD shop or store. They know who has the skills to weld up diffs and can recommend someone in the local community. That could also become a benefit down the road when you want bumpers, skidders, sliders or what have you built later.
  14. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/search.php?searchid=185279 These are the results of doing a search for "snorkel". You will have to wade through some irrelevant posts but some good info is there. BTW, I got your email and Zap answered the question in your other post.
  15. Especially if you aren't paying attention! Wheeled a BYB/Ozified lift for a year and didn't have any the problems I hear about these days.
  16. Stores don't have to as they are buying from distributors. Or they are representatives of said distributor. But, I agree, to avoid this type of thing it would make sense to state somewhere that they were an official distributor.
  17. Give us some credit. If he is the/a distributor it should clearly state that on the page somewhere. I am pretty sure he is a distributor though as pm and emails were flying the second 88Hatchmonster stated he had a plate for sale.
  18. The 3dr truck has been done. Pics on the internet somewhere. Ross in Idaho has the tonneau covered 3dr. He did his for offroad purposes. Didn't want to break the glass in the woods. I'm sure when closed it provides some sort of structural integrity. But Arizona seems the perfect place to remove a hatch. You could remove the hatch and try it before anything permenant(?) is tried
  19. Exactly what I have done in the past. As a matter of fact, I had to do 5 on one engine before. Still holding today without problems. OMG, I have fallen prey to the resurrected post. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo! J/K, To answer the last question. I have had good luck finding inserts/kits at NAPA and National auto parts.
  20. Check the RC sites? RC= Remote control
  21. I talked to him and said that you won't let him touch it. I agree with you. Stock makes for a nice car for sure. Maybe lower it a bit when it needs new struts. But, I don't know if I would do much else with it. You did good girl!
  22. You go girl. What year is it? All our girls are going with 2.5's!!
