  1. With new ones some times the dust coverings cn be a bit firm. All you should need to do is push them in with your hands and tighten the nuts. Sometimes I have had to use a jack but just to add enough(read slight) pressure to hold the shaft from turning. You may have the right parts but I would consider trying sa different brand if you continue to have problems. BTW, very funny (Ih8mud)
  2. I am guessing that considering the quick onset of the problem that you may have broke a ring or have a hole in a piston. A compression check should be the first thing you do.
  3. I have both. I run the Accells in my Brat's(2) and the MSD in my XT6. Never a problem with either one. The first Accell is on my big Brat and is about 20 yrs old. The second is on my little Brat and is about 2 yrs old. The MSD is about a year old. BTW, there is a huge difference between the cube Accells and the rest of them. Performance and size are the difference. The cube doesn't provide any more power really. What it does provide is more cycles. That's where the power is!!
  4. The electrical one on your car is controlled by the A/C. It only comes on when the A/C is on, either defrost or A/C modes. So, in my opinion, it's either the mechanical fan or you have a plugged coolant system. Either heater core or radiator. Just going off my personal experiences. Tough to diagnosis without seeing it.
  5. My thoughts exactly. Sorry Paul, just the first thing that pops into the the ol' head.
  6. Sounds like a fan problem. You say the fan didn't turn on until you turned the A/C on. Do you have two fans or one mechanical and one electrical? If you have one and one then the clutch fan(mechanical) is probably going bad. Not sufficiently cooling the engine and it continues to heat after you shut off the car. If you have two then the problem is a poor electrical connection or a bad sensor in the radiator. You will need to unhook the fan plugs and clean the connections real well.
  7. Could be either. The engine stamp is behind the distributor on the block. It will read EA71(1600) or EA81(1800).
  8. At .040" you would be looking at a custom intake as well. The waterports on the intake will not match up corrctly to the head. Not sure of the compression. I know there is an equation for it but can't remember it.
  9. Hey Pat, give me a call. I may have another alternative for you. Ken
  10. Then they can go to the link you provided and find it themselves. I do not like the idea of publishing peoples private info. I would edit it it if your info was posted Morgan just as I have Mudrat's. If someone wishes to find that info then that is their option. To publish it here or else where(IMO, as some have pointed out doesn't matter much) is not any better than not completing the deals or not communicating about them.
  11. Start with an XT6, add a Chev S-10 Blazer and shake vigorously.
  12. Could be a tune up issue but seems more like vacuum leaks to me. If you can't get boost I would check all the vacuum lines on the motor. Those motors don't have timing belts to be concerned with so it's vacuum or distributor or injectors.
  13. Oh, it is very real. Sold twice on EBay. Been around for quite a while.
  14. This is and isn't exactly what you asked for but I think it will fill the bill.
  15. Dang, I guess I should read old posts more often. Sorry I missed it but family obligations would have gotten in the way even if I had known about it. Looks good Corky!
  16. Morgan, swap it out and be done with it. Alot less time involved and the end result will probably be better.
  17. The VIN number will tell the whole story. Non-US spec cars are different than US spec but I will try to field this one. EA81T car that originally came with an auto. The 5 sp would have been attached to an '84 and newer car down there('85 and newer in the states). The turbo axles have a larger diameter shaft but the cups should be the same for all. As long as they have 23 splines any will work. Post the VIN and we may be able to decifer it to tell the original story.
  18. Check the connection at the battery and fusible link box next to the battery. Also, check the fusible links themselves. If all the checks out then look at the connection of the ignition switch. It is a pink connector under the steering column.
  19. How many of these threads do we have to lock before you all get the idea? It's a marketing issue. A company isn't going to market to a 20 year old econo box that has about 50% of it production still on the road. Not when they can put that same effort into a product that will be presentable to a wider array of prospective buyers. Impressive, that explains alot! Not really. See above. The bottom line is that if you don't like the way you are treated there don't go there. It won't change just for you or any other owner for that matter. Either you find a place to fit or you don't. I have a wide variety of cars that fit many places. I don't go to NASIOC for help with a Brat just like I don't ask many questions here about an Impreza. Actually, I don't ask many questions at any of the forums. If I can't figure it out then I usually call an expert. This post is now locked and closed forever.
