  1. hey i just got back from auto zone and they tested the battery to see if i could get the free recharge they offer and it turns out that the battery is shot...
  2. dammit . hey i put up my own thread on this. check it out.
  3. holy crap after i killed the ignition it didnt start with out another jump. it ran fine while it was connected to the battery in the minivan but as soon as i took off the jump cables the car died. so we had to push it into the garage. rite now the car is completely dead. for a minute i thot i fried the whole car all together. but the engine idles smoothly and everything except the radio works. o forgot to mention that the lights wer very dim while it was idling at 500-1000 rpm before i stopped the engine. before i kicked dwn the acclereator (hence carbed engine) the lights were so bright that i had never in my life had seen such a bright dome light in a car. after the throttle kick down the lights got super dim.
  4. ok so yesterday i had to jump start my GL but rite after it started the voltage meter was way north of the 18 mark. just seconds later my stereo got fried and rite after the lil bit of smoke from the head unit the whole car went crazy kinda like in the movies after a hotwiring gone bad. the needles were jumping around the red dash lites were on and the wipers were working by themselves basically the whole car went haywire!!! can any one point me as to wat else happened besides a fried alternator?
  5. that just happened to me today. the voltage was way north of the 18 mark just seconds later my stereo got fried and rite after the lil bit of smoke from the head unit the whole car went crazy. the needles were jumping around the red dash lites were on and the wipers were working by them selves. can any one point me as to wat else happened besides a fried alternator? o sorry to jack your thread...
  6. were did it leave a black streak? near the exhaust pipe?
  7. hmm sounds like after a big cloud of smoke the end result is a nice quiet suby....
  8. nice. thanx guys. one thing i've heard tho is dat it makes ur car smoke like there's no tomorrow. how bad does it smoke and for how long?
  9. would it help my GL-10 pass the smog inspection? thats the main reason i ask cuz i really need this wagon running again soon...
  10. ok this thought has been pondering me for a while now. exactly wat does seafoam clean out? i want to know cuz i was thinking of using some on my 86' GL-10 Turbo wagon. honestly i ask cuz i wan to be informed before i go out and buy the stuff and just dump it in. thanx Buddy
  11. thank you. thats why i'm looking for something newer. i have an 86' GL-10 Turbo wagon that i know for fact isnt gonna pass smog. here in california at least. one question im gonna dare to ask is. which engine is more reliable? the ea82T or the engine on the 98' GT? i've had my share of trouble with the GL-10. i also have an 85' GL N/A ea82 with 239k original miles and goodness dat car is reliable. o by the way the GT is smogged and ready to go here in California.
  12. ok so you definitely making me think here. he wants 3k for the GT. now u say to offer him 1800 for the GT minimum. whats the highest dat i should go before saying take it or no deal?
  13. how reliable has it been since its one of the engines dat has head gasket trouble
  14. o crap so it looks like the GT is due for new head gaskets so it seems!!!!
  15. one question i forgot to ask is. can the headgasket blow even if the engine has not been overheated? and if the headgaskets have been replaced what are the chances of them blowing again?
  16. the only difference between the two is the engine and the hood scoop and a few minor details. the 96 LSi being the ej22, is the headgasket more reliable?
  17. yeah the red one is a private seller. i spoke wit him just a while ago and he says that its hardly been driven under his ownership CLEAN TITLE it doesnt leak or burn oil. the reason he's selling it is because he says he cleaning up a bit. now i know what torque bind is in an ea82 but how can i know of torque bind in an auto or manual ej subaru? do i have to feel for anything???
  18. this is the 1998 Legacy. i just double checked and yeah there is NO turbo on it. the hood scoop is just for looks. i really like this one but i dont know bout the price. this one is the 1996 Legacy. rite now the price is $2998. fully loaded as well.
  19. hey every one its been a loooooooooong time since i have posted. Um so whats going on is dat i found a couple of legacies 4 sale. one is a 96' Legacy LSi fully loaded with 173,113 on the clock for $2,998 and the other one is a 1998 Legacy 2.5 GT turbo fully loaded with 200,000 on the clock for $3,000. my question is what do i have to look out 4 besides the headgasket issue? which of the 2 would be a better purchase? info would be greatly appreciated
  20. hey no harm. its just telling u to shift to the next gear for better fuel economy. it may come on while driving in reverse or wen down shifting going uphill. in that case it should be ignored. but remember there's nuthin wrong wit ur suby
  21. yeah u guys remember this was a high speed crash so even tho the front looks like it can be straightened out u gotta consider the steering system and all the related components. a loose sterring column is a definite no-no. so that shell has got to go.
  22. one more thing. if the motor still runs, pull it out and scrap the body. that is no good anymore due to the severity of the damage. from the looks of it there is significant damage to the frame. so my suggestion would be pull the motor and tranny and scrap the body. but at least it gave its life for its owner
