  1. scooby, i'm currently throwing my light forces on top of the OBXT... trying to keep it looking clean, i like your method, i may have to go with your method of running the wires
  2. mmmm... tesla's wireless power transmission may be the key.. i MIGHT need a larger alternator for that method... and get a third phase on it too.. but good idea! i think the transistor idea may be an option... and yeah.. i'm going for a 'classy' mod here, completely removable... because i put other crap on the rack too... and those lights are big I'll try to mount them up and get a pic today, i think it's hott, erin thinks it looks like mickey mouse
  3. Self-Control... me... no Rev Limiter.... 7500rpm... no Speed Limiter... 527mph... no Sheer Good Luck.... hell yeah
  4. Nice comparison... but Zap.. you have way to many tires... almost as many as me :-p
  5. +1 for fuel economy. Mind you, the MINIMUM octane you can dump into that thing is 91 oct. which isn't really that much more expensive (we did a 1800 mile trip, and it was only $18.00 more than it would have been w/ 87 oct) now, i've tried lower test gas in it... not a good idea, it runs like crap. You will see an increase in fuel economy w/ the higher test gas in that car, because it's running a higher compression ratio than the non-turbo models. But then again... with the turbo you'll find yourself using the go-juice a bit more than before... pretty much, if you're going to play, your milage will suck in it :-p and i don't know how i haven't gotten any tickets w/ the new roo'
  6. I'm kinda' wearry about poking holes in the window gaskets, because i've done it before.. and if i want to make is completely removable that could be a pain :-\ man.. i wish it would warm up around here, so i can tear out all the trim again and find out where wires run...
  7. I took a look at the front pillar, it looks like a good place to go, but i've gotta' pull off a fender to see if i can go up that way, and then the head liner in the car to try to figur eout about the roof rack stuffs :-\
  8. that's what i was wondering, i goto school in 'up-state' NY and i haven't seen any legacy's with tires on the roof.... i thought derrick and i were the only people with rediculous subarus in the way upstate :-p
  9. my 97 OBS has 186k on it.. and the engine is still running perfectly... then tranny on the other hand... that was my fault, not the subaru's
  10. shouldn't we start a 2007 thread? it is april already
  11. So... i know i said i wasn't going to mess with the new car until i got some milages out of her.. well... 14000 miles later, it's time to start playing with it... My first project, is hooking up the light forces on the roof rack. I already have them mounted on the aerobars, and mind you, they look very sexy up there (i'll get pics when i can find the charger for my camera ) i just need to figure out how to get a 10awg wire from the battery, to the top of the car, with MINIMAL damage... yeah i know what you're thinking "oh look, andy's going to start cutting holes in the new car..." well i'm not! I'm going to make this mod completely removable/quick disconnectable. So, a few ideas: 1) run a wire from the batt, through the subframe all the way to the back, out the gasket w/ the wires for the brake/tail lights, up the side of the hatch/gasket area, and then up to the roof rack, where i'll just zip tie it, or somehow attach the wire. 2) run a wire into the car, up to the roof inside, convert the DC voltage to an AC signal, and make a transformer w. some coils, through the glass (moon roof maybe...), and run a wire straight from the glass to the lights. it's an 05 OBXT, but i'm pretty sure all the holes/wire routings are pretty much the same as most OBW's. Any ideas?
  12. Heh.. i agree with PAezb... speed limits become more of... guidelines than anything else I haven't heard anything back about the 07 foresters, except the cruise control issue, which is a quick computer fix. i'm also running an 05' OBXT... stage 1
  13. you can build one yourself, that's what i did :-p cost me a total of... $150... that's all the steel + hardware + shackles. there's alot of hours of cutting, bending and welding in there too
  14. Holy Lugs batman! those are dead sexy... nice work zap! i really should get working on my OBS again, to keep up with you guys again, HOTT!!!
  15. if you don't have a turbo.. why not try adding one of those before playing w/ NOx :-p that sort of boost should keep you busy for while
  16. So, i just helped a buddy of mine change his struts in his 99 forester. when we finnished, we realized that we forgot to put the bump stop (foam/rubber thinger on the strut, not the boot) back on one of the struts. Does it really matter? Should we rip it out again and put in the bumpstop?
  17. i think you'd have to do some re-programming of the ECU/TCU unit.. which.. might not be the best thing to do... especially with a new vehicle... I guess you could look for something like a cobb accessport... or get it protuned...
  18. My 05 OBXT and i didn't notice if for a few days really. If you're really jerky with your foot you can notice a delay, but other than that i think it's very similar to a wire system, i don't really have any complaints about it
  19. I'm with nippster on this one, the EJ25 is so much more fun than the EJ22 even though they're known for blowing up etc... i think it's worth it
  20. i agree, the 15" rim will not wit without grinding down the caliper. on my 05 OBXT it's a tight squeeze for the 16" ers.
  21. thanks for letting me do that dude, i'm sure the car would have no been happy if i didn't get to change out the oil while we were there (it was pretty gross when it came out) i switched it over to stage 1 on the way back... the milage wasn't horrible, around 20-21, but we were also traveling alot quicker than the way out.... let's just say through nebraska our average speed was ~ 83.5mph , AND the box didn't come off, and you were right, the bouncing did even out around 92mph it was an interesting drive... took us a bit longer than we wanted, but i guess you'll have that sometimes. Total milage for the trip was like.. 4400 miles
  22. Hey guys, thanks for the hospitality, erin & i had a great time in Colorado... and arn't really to psyched about being back in NY (raining & cold...) we made it back safely.. with only a few minor issues (did you know that you can shear off wheel lugs... i'll talk about that later...)
  23. heh, nice. i suppose i can offer up some space in the obxt. We're leaving tomorrow morning (sat.) at like 5am, to peoria, IL, and then up through canada back to Potsdam, NY. as stated above, quick stops, along the highway only i think we should start a sticky subaru transport thread... maybe in the meet * greet section.. i dunno... might be a good idea
