I really don't want to know why you guys go wheelin' in thongs....

i'm sure when it was originally cut it was nice... but the welds just sucked hard.... the end of that pipe is still in the flange... welded on.. the material is just gone... I have a feeling that they squelched the welds once they did it... that'd harden the material somewhat, making it suck. Now, i know you can't 'really' harden stainless.. but you can make it brittle, so i'm guessing that's what happened here. When i re-weld it, i'm going to keep it nice & hot for a while... and quasi-anneal it Oh, and it looks like they used some sort of plasma cutter to cut the flange... although it looks like it was some sort of manual system, not mechanized... eh...you can see the ripples where someone was going along w/ the torch...

More pics Note: this is the FIFTH time these have broke. the first few times in the same place you spoke of noah. I'm going to tig weld it, fill her the pipes up with argon, use stainless filler rod, you know, do it correctly I spoke at length with an employee at borla, and reamed them out pretty hard, then spoke with one of their manufacturing engineers, and proceeded to tell him exactly what the issue with their process was Man i hate people who suck at their jobs...

Alright, i can't quite put my finger on it.. but SOMETHING is wrong with this sequence of images..... Perhaps it's the flash altering the images? maybe the rusting stainless steel? maybe the overuse of silicon rtv? hmm.... i'm leaning towards the whole pipe not connected to the flange thing... maybe... So. to put this to rest, i give a big ol' and to Borla Industries. I'm sick of having to send these pipes back every 6 months... so i'm taking it into my own hands this time. I'm going to weld the snot out of these things. Stay tuned for massive amount of electricity and molten metal....

you have all the fun, eesh! looks like a great time!

you get pulled over for not having mudflaps? hmmm... i left most of mine on a trail in NY somewhere I agree w/ the bumper height thing, you don't want to go flipping people over.... and as for the huge trucks, with 12" lifts, and 35"+ tires... honestly, how offten do they really go offroading? why have such a monstrosity, if you're not going to abuse the snot out of it? on a side note... one of my friends' sisters' boyfriend has one of those trucks... and i still have more diff clearance than him

because that would make my beer warm

So when are we going to see that thing on 33s then?

1) yes 2) sorta' I have an aircooled torch in the mail right now, because my stailess pipes cracked again.... hmm... so i'm going to fix them with that. Once i get that all fixed, i'm going to get some aluminum heat sinks (lots of scrappd' ones at work) and weld them together to make a resvoir (a very cooling resivoir), I'll punch a hole in the bottom of the base, and thread in a coolant fixture, and run that to a pump, pump to torch, toch back to resivoir etc... with a intercooler, or radiator in there somewhere. i don't really NEED to have a resivoir... but it'd be damn cool to have one made of heat sinks

Sorry guys... i'm with brian on this one :horse: I think it's about that time.... time for someone who has more ambition than i do, to make a calculator for these type of things.... wouldn't be that hard really.. just need some people to make measurements... and make a database.. and run some trig calculations from that stuff.

1) Don't use WD-40, use PB-Blaster 2) Shock the bolt instead of applying constant torque to it, apply a little torque, then tap the wrench w/ a hammer. (Simulating a really weak impact gun) 3) Heat the crap out of it if you can without melting plastic/burning stuff 4) Make sure you're turning it the right way Good luck! I'm not sure how hard it is to change the bolts.. i'm guessing there's just a hex in the plastic, which the bolt sits in.. hopefully it wasn't molded into the casing...

Shonkey Outback
Andyjo replied to nixon's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX
run some sea foam through the pcv valve maybe... ? That stuff is magic you know... got a cracked windshield... seafoam it... bad brakes? seafoam em... clutch burnt out? seafoam it... you get the point -
Nipper's bling'd out Outback is going to be on that site someday, with like.. a 75% coverage hood grill, a hood scoop the size of the windshield, side skirts that have little wheels because they're so low, 22" rims (blingin' i say). that's right, i can see it now, Nipper's gonna be the pimp of the neighborhood, in his pimped-out Outback :-p

Awesome video!! man i wish there was stuff to do like that around here just makes me want to get a wagon even more... and have fun with it
-
you want alloys, or steel.... i'd go steelies oh yeah.. what'd you do w/ those forester springs?
-
They beat the snot out of their foresters in AU..... i think like 80% of the people on offroadsubarus.com drive foresters... maybe? I dunno.. persanally a forester just looks like a plain ol' suv... those which people don't offroad anyhow, because they just buy them to flaunt the size, etc... It's much cooler to offroad your wagon, or hatch, or brat.... a forester is just another box.... visually that is. We all know that it's just a taller impreza wagon and that it's just as capable... but.. whatever i'm rambling... I'd take my OBS over a forester any day offroad... mainly because i sit higher than a forester, with it's suspension
