  1. I average ~25mpg with all my roofracks on (3 thulebars, 4 lights on top) i get ~27-28mpg with the racks & lightbar off. This is all the same drive, same gas station fill up, etc... Today when i filled up, i got ~12 gallons and had gone a little more than 330 miles on that tank, according to the gps (my tires mess w/ my odo.. so i ignore it.) with the racks on i can get about 280 miles on a tank. 97' OBS, EJ22, 4eat, 176.5k
  2. So, i'm getting a WRX exhaust for my OBS... which has a set of 2" borla headers coming from the block.. my question is if i want to go from 2" to 2.25", can i just made an adapter flange? I drew it up in solidworks... would this really mess w/ the flow? or would it work? Bending a pipe shouldn't be that hard If i just have a chamfer on the hole... to the correct size.. that would work, right?
  3. Ouch. It's not supposed to look like that.. right?... doesn't the baja have it's air intake right above the radiator too? so that bow wave just goes right in? :-\
  4. It's 391 Miles to get there for me.. so.. ~6-7 hours, not too shabby i may also have to convince my girlfriend to come, i'm thinking i'd leave friday and campout somewhere friday night.. or stop in CT at one of my friends places.
  5. I'll put money on it fixing the problem. If not the 1st fluid change, the 2nd, and most certianlly the 3rd. It'll take you say.. 20 minutes max to change the fluid out.. the annoying part is filling it back up through the dipstick hole...
  6. Yeah... i'd do something w/ that tire bouncing around Awesome photos!! i like how you can see the flow over the cars w/ the sand & stuff good stuff!
  7. changing the tranny fluid on an auto is really easy... just pull the plug out... drain it (i bet the fluid will be nice & black.. chunky maybe?) , once it's empty, plug her up again, dump some more fluid in, and drive around a bit... then do it again... maybe a few times... it's cheaper than having a mechanic do it Hey Nippster, where did i put my keys?!?! argg...... And grossgary.. do you have a spare fuel temp sensor i can buy from you? I get alot of PM's about the stuff i wrote, about the lifts & 4eat clutch pack lockup... always like being helpful
  8. I'm sure Jamie could hook you up with one. I'd try some good ol' copper/silicon RTV or something before buying a new one... i mean.. the hole in my oilpan is STILL being held by that stuff! (2k later...) RTV is just a gasket material... you put it on your gaskets & stuff, then clamp everything together, and it'll set, making you a really nice seal. You can get the stuff anywhere... hardware store, auto store... just ask for gasket maker stuff.
  9. Yeah... i'd do something w/ that tire bouncing around Awesome photos!! i like how you can see the flow over the cars w/ the sand & stuff good stuff!
  10. i want trails like that here!! i also need some more clearance and a d/r... but whatever
  11. ohh.. that... just pry it off i think... when i changed mine i think it just fell off... i don't think it's pressed on or anything
  12. The big shiney (sometimes not so-shiney) nut? yeah, it should slide right out of the bearing there.... the spring & top that is... as for the perch.. it's welded to the strut.. it's not going to go anywhere.. the rubber boot thing will most likely come off.
  13. June 15th.. or July 15th? June 15th = Thursday July 15t = Saturday
  14. Wow.. you guys are so nice to your lug nuts... i crank those puppies down to 100 or so ft-lbs sometimes around 80 if i'm feeling nice... and the roo' isn't pissing me off that day :-\ but i also had a problem with a wheel almost falling off on the highway once.. so i do thing a bit much now-a-days
  15. Only when going slow? i'd check your tranny fluid just incase... it can never hurt to change out the fluid anyhow You may also want to check the temperature of your wheels/brakes after you drive with it... and it'd doing this, maybe one of your calipers has siezed? If it helps you any, my impreza shakes alot at about 55mph  but i know that's an allignment issue.... edit: Oh yeah, an axle going bad COULD do that also... and maybe allignment... but thats usually high speed that'll get yah'
  16. i haven't done it.. but i've been thinking of bracing up the front end, cutting off the rad. supports, and then welding in some 2x2" 1/8" wall square tube in there.... a bit higher, there's about 1-2" of room you can move the radiator up before you start running into issues shutting the hood
  17. How was it? it sure was raining in VT :-\ Although i didn't get to make it to the meet... i did manage to suck 28mpg out of the impreza
  18. He was also floating towards the end there
  19. Be careful when you do that.. or else you end up like me
  20. if i remember correctly.. the thule baskets will fit on odd-shaped bars... my box fit on my OBS racks before i got rid of them
  21. Arn't the splines different from the 4eat to a 5MT? i don't remember where i might be remembering that from.. .but.. yeah..
  22. Depends on how quick i get my king springs... i may be up for a 3 if i get those
  23. When i installed my lift.. i kept on running out of directional fluid had to seal up some things
  24. Hey.. being able to turn off all the lights is a VERY important thing when conducting covert operations
  25. sounds like a bearing to me... mine did the same thing a ways back... and may be starting to do it again :-\ make sure they use the newer legacy style bearings, not the self-destructing impreza bearings.
