  1. When?, Where?... i'm lazy and don't feel like looking up the old post I'm game for BBQ, because BBQ is the only way to get things done , burgs, dogs, maybe some chix on there.. mmmmmm BBQ.... I'm gave for awhatever beverages yall' want (except this crazy toxic RB you folks speak of.. ). I'll have a job, so i'll have $$ to bring food & stuffs (& buy gas to get there :-p ) Edit: alright, i'm dumb, and can't read, i'm guessing it's June 3rd, Salem Ma? Oh yeah, lifted impreza rides too, as long as we don't break it tooo much... it's gotta' make it home..
  2. I want those tires looks HOTTT
  3. those wooden brush things, with the spongy thing on the end... yeah..
  4. http://search.cartserver.com/search/search.cgi?cartid=a-9041&bool=AND&category=combo_makemodel&maxhits=10&keywords=1997&keywords_2=SUBARU+OUTBACK&GO=GO%21 that'll get the job done, click 'click here for more info & ordering' and they have the install pdfs on line, and show if you need to bolt/drill anything. You could also post in the marketplace, one of the board members may have one hanging around for relitivly cheap
  5. I'm guessing some silicon lube, in a spray can, and have at it, , for the seals, put some on a rag or something and just go over them, the tracks you can get to from either spraying down the top of the window, or taking of the trim i believe... I'll get pics & investigate!... must also adjust tensioner my windows shall crush hands again! muhahaha!
  6. Aluminum Petrolium Jelly is the way to go for neutralizing rust did up like.. the ENTIRE rear end of my bmw w/ it get some sort of wire brush too, to get in there & get the flaky stuff off 1st. Once you let the stuff set & neutralize (it may be a long time.. dont' remember) you can prime it w/ some anti-rust stuffs... ACE rust stop works great, and it's cheap Then go ahead and do it up w/ your pretty colored paint As for the bumper cover (i don't think you want the metal part off), you've got to pop the hood, take off the head lights & front grill (a few bolts & stuff), then there will be like.. 1000 of those pesky black plastic pin things, where you have to pop the top, and then the whole thing comes out... get those out of the way, then behind the liscence plate i believe there is 1 bolt, and possibly one lower than that (at least for the obs..) There may also be some of those annoying plastic things over in the fender wells... but i'm not sure about those.. since i broke all of them (zip-ties are your friend) The cover should slide right off after that, there'll be some 'shock absorbing foam' under it, and be careful of wires (if you have directionals on the bumper.. i think only the OBS was that stupid though). The plastic is black under the paint, go easy w/ the plastic welding, and give her some loving w/ some nice paint when you're done To put the cover back on.. pretty much the reverse of taking it off.. unless you're me.. and then you shear the one bolt remaining, and break all the plastic tabs, and hold the cover on w/ some rachet straps good luck!
  7. I think i have a Resse (?) hitch.. and all i did was unbolt the town hooks in the back, and it bolted right up to where those used to be... 6 large bolts...
  8. i want a used EJ JDM dual range tranny... new stuff is too expensive for me
  9. And not alot of interest in price quotes for the lifts which are not interested in being build
  10. Thanks nippster! I'll give it a try... it's just been bothering me for some time now... all the other cars i've driven in have faster windows
  11. my 4eat is very... well.. let's just say it likes to let you know it's shifting most of the time. if i'm really lite on the gas, and dont' push her very much it smooths our nicely.. but if i drive like.. the way i do, then i feel it
  12. So, since i've had my impreza... i've been sort of annoyed at how slow & wussy the power windows are... so i'm thinking i may want to upgrade my motors to get some real nut in those windows... any thoughts? I also think i may have a bad ground in the passenger rear door.. that window is DEATHLY slow... I'll open up the doors when it stops raining (yeah right.. ) and see what sort of motor will fit in there I want to have enough power in those suckers to crush a hand real good, right now, if i try to squish my hand (i got bored today.. give me a break..) it doesn't really hurt that much.. the motor just wusses out... i need some hand crushing power!!!
  13. I've got some good ones around here too i couldn't mtn bike up it... very nasty... i'd love to see a subaru romp on it.. lol
  14. bearings are sort of a pain to do if you don't have... a press... or a 'hub tamer' (you can rent them though). I'd do up the brakes 1st and see if anything happens there, you could have a slightly warped rotor, or it would be a slight allignment problem? bearings are expensive, go with the cheap fixes first
  15. 4eat = 4eat, you should be fine... i think.. i believe there were changes in the motors a little (ej22's) between those years.. but i don't think the 4eat has changed that much
  16. Looks schnazzy! (haven't heard that word in a while ) One thing is, i'd be careful about those cinder blocks your using for jack stands there... yeah i've done it before too, but they're known to crack & break.. and well... with no wheels on you could mess up some nasty stuff. If you must use em, turn them so the holes are vertical wouldn't want a sexy car like that to drop into the ground :-\
  17. i usually just take the tube on the pcv valve, and shove it in the top of the sea foam can, sometimes you have to cut a slit in the plastic top thingy... and if you get a REAL good seal it'll start to crush the can... just pop a hole in the bottom, you'll be good to go.
  18. yup, 4eat only... well... if there is a 5eat, i'm sure there'd be a way to do it.. but i don't have one to play with
  19. You know, you'd think i'd remember who wrote that thread... d'oh! sorry dude
  20. 06 Outbacks Make me drool... sorry I'm pretty sure there are no after market brush guard makers for new outbacks.. but there are plenty of people around who make their own, and the just look mean Let's see here, some designs floating around: Mudrat's: http://oregonoffroadsubaruclub.org/Outback_Baja_Together.jpeg Shady's: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/data/500/medium/new_bumper.jpg Austin's: http://usmb.net/albums/album239/IMG_3070.jpg Mine: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/data/500/bumper2.jpg There are also some old stock brush guards floating around from the EA series... it'd to a little modification but you'd be my hero if you put one on an 06 outback Lots of other people make their own bumpers... that's just all i could think of off the top of my head for the new gens those are all full bumper replacements... i'm not sure about just brush guards... i was thinking of just welding on the bull bar to my stock bumper, and cutting out the plastic to go around it.. but.. .i went all out heh... As for stuff on the roof, i'd get a set of thule/yakama racks, and space them so they're located at the strongest part of the factory rails (ie: not in the middle). I've got a Box for my OBS, but one of my buddies at school has a yakama setup with a box & basket on top of his 06 ouback.. it's rediculous. Other than that, welcome to the board, there's tons of info and friendly people willing to help out around here
  21. i'd check your tire circumferences... make sure they're all within 1/4" of each other. I might also try adding another ground from your neg. battery post to the engine block, this help out my 4eat alot in the shifting area, i also cleaned up all the other grounded connections, and the car was never happier! (i'll see if i can find the ground mod link for you). You may also want to distribute the load of the tools more evenly, so when you're in the car it's relitivly evenly balanced, with all that weight on one side you could wear down those tires quicker. Also, pull the tranny fluid dip stick, check the color of the fluid, give it a good sniff, if it smells burnt, go ahead & change it out, if it's dark red... darker than it should be ... change it. Changing the fluid can't really hurt much except your wallet.... change it a few times with a moderate drive between changes, instead of 'flushing' it, this will help get all the hidden 'snot' out of the tranny. Other than that.... i'll pass it off to someone else Oh yeah, i beat the crap out of my 4eat, tow huge loads, other cars around, drive it hard, super-heavy loads on long road trips, lock up the center clutch pack just to keep her 'loose' sometimes , i also carry alot of my tools around with me, most of the time... although they tend to slide around in the back Good luck!
  22. What he said Pretty much, you dump a can into your PCV valve... let the engine cool completely, start it back up, and it'll clean out your vacuum system, and lots of white smoke will pour out your exhaust pipe, but if there's a leak somewhere you'll either get the liquidy stuff coming out the leak, or smoke in other areas.. where it shouldn't be either way, i think the car will thank you for it.
