  1. it drives fine, i can still take '15mph' warning sign turns at 45mph i also took out the front swaybar... didn't notice much difference
  2. yoiu can do it, i'm only using the struts.
  3. 14mm bolt...... all you need to change out the caliper is a 19mm socket (lugs) and a 14mm socket for the caliper stuff.
  4. like so?http://oregonoffroadsubaruclub.org/Outback_Baja_Together.jpeg
  5. Replaced the caliper, problem fixed, the lines seem to be fine too, when i bled the brakes with the bleeder shut, the lines didn't expand or anything like that.
  6. You and your top secret projects Zap :-p Here's some more pics, threw the lights on & stuff Just have to finnish welding & slap some paint on that bad-boy
  7. I've tried to sea foam the oil gallery, ran marvel mystery oil through her... still no help for the 2.2 tick, and i'm scared to take off the valve covers... anyone have a walk-through, with pics? n/m, i clicked on the link, and forgot about it.. d'oh!
  8. Semi-Gloss Black, engine block stuff, i picked some up today. Not out do-austin... because he's got more clearance anyhow, we're in it together for one great cause.... out-do Zapar eh.. need another shackle and to finnish welding up everything. hopefully i can get some work on it done tomorrow, and get it painted and ready for action.
  9. So we did some dumpster diving today on campus, found a futon... which was thrown out... dragged that sucker out & chopped it up, and BAM, i've got myself an a-bar on the front of the impreza i need to do some more welding.. it's just tacked on right now, but it looks hott! still need to build that skidplate, and cut off the bottom edge there... sticks down to far
  10. i think i found the problem i think it's time for a new one.. uhg... all the pins slide nicely & stuff.
  11. Yeah... so i was driving to VT this weekend, and went down this hill.. you know.. no big deal... came to a stop sign, and BAM, there's smoke pouring out of my left wheel, so you know i stop, look at it, the wheel & brake system is pretty hot, all the other wheels are cool & not-so hot. So, i've determined that my crappy gas milage, and rapid eating through of brake pads is this caliper.. not doing its job properly. SOOO, the question is... do i pull the caliper, and try to clean it up myself, of should i just go get a re-man'd one... ORRR upgrade my front brakes to 2-pot calipers? It's for the same ol' 97OBS 2.2L 4EAT 173k on her... you know the deal
  12. I'm in! Not sure what i'll be doing this summer, but it sounds good to me! a little BBQ & Offroading sounds like a blast I should have my bumper finnished by the end of this week too!
  13. On the note of gas milage, some things you can do: -Air filter -Fuel Filter -Oil Change (duh) -Sea foam your PCV valve to all hell. -Change the Tranny Fluid -Change Diff Oils -Brake Overhaul you know.. make new again
  14. Hey Gary, the ticking only gets worse, want to have a EJ22 lifter adjusting party? my ticking is really bad now... even when th eengine fully warms up, there's still a slight tick at higher rpms.... i'm just too scared to pull of the valve covers and play withing things...
  15. the wheels are still uber skinny.... like.. less than 4" i'd say... whereas your regular wheel will run like.. 6.5" in width.
  16. using a spare as a normal tire....... i would say no... very much so no... like... ARE YOU CRAZY?!?!?! sorry... just... it's a spare wheel.... i'd say no... and they're so freaking skinny... guess they'd make good snow tires.. but nothing else... eh..
  17. good ol' primus nice videos, good times i can see!
  18. Capitol Steel, Montpielier Vt, if you get off on exit 8, off of I-89, you head down the only way it lets you, and i think it's the 1st road on the left, it sort of doubles back under the highway, right after going under the highway there's a right turn, take it, and on the left there's some HUGE warehouses, with a big sign that says 'capitol steel', go in the office, and the guy there is very helpful. It's helpful to call ahead, because if you want any plate sheared you have to let them know 48 hours in advance, and the guys are only there until 3pm every day, so if you order up the stuff ahead of time, you can put it up till like.. 5pm i think.. i believe this is the number: (802) 223-3950
  19. I picked up a piece of 15.5"x24" 1/8" plate for 8 bucks in VT... it's not that expensive i may end up going w/ A in the long run.. but i think for now B will have to do, i'm using the edges of the plate for the endcaps on my bumper
  20. how about extending it a little, and just bolting up to where the jacking plate would be, and take it up to all 4 of those bolts? mm.. lots of projects... working on a hamock stand too
  21. So, i just crawled under the impreza w/ a tapemeasure and wrote down some stuff, ideas for the skidplate, etc.. So here's what i came up with So, i mapped out possible mounting points etc... skidplate 'A' i'd need to get more steel for... i currently have enough steel to make skidplate 'B' So, the pro's & cons of these.. and remember that the tube bumper will be about 60lbs... These numbers are based on that 1/8" plate weights 5lbs/ft^2 A -Covers the entire engine block & headers & keeps stuff from smashing directly into the steering rack. -38"x21"x1/8" -Will weight roughly 24.5lbs -Cut off tow hooks -Pain to remove -Mounts to swaypar mounting points B -Will cover the oilpan, and some exaust pipe. -15.5"x21"x1/8" -Will weight roughly 11.3lbs -Easier to remove -Mounts to 'jacking plate' mounting points/crossmember So with that said..any ideas of what i should do? i don't think i'm going to end up attaching it directly to the radiator support, i think i'm just going to get another piece and bring it up to the bumper when i finnish up that project. I'm sort of leaning towards option B, because i have the plate already... and it won't weigh a ton. ideas? better points to mount to?
  22. Quick thought! you might want to add a switch on the relay wire, so if want the rear end engaged when e-braking... it'll still work like it's stock.. for purposes like engine braking/offroading etc.. err.. and to not get in a fight with the 4wd switch which you all should have i'll take pics when it's done
