Oops... I met up with 2 wranglers, one with a 3" lift & mudders, the other was pretty stock. Anyhow.. we did some pretty tough stuff, but it was all a good time, but i guess i managed to smash my oilpan pretty good... because when i got home i found this: I'm going to see if i can take it off, and maybe TIG weld it up very carefully.. it's just a small pin-hole... is this a bad idea? or should i just go get a new one ($100 bucks.. blah)... Got the car very muddy, and the jeep guys were VERY impressed with it's capabilities. Oh well.. i guess that's more modivation to finnish the bumper/skidplate, right?

My clinking def. sounds like it's coming from under the car... i'm going to take out my swaybar and see what happens
-
Was the dual range only a 4 speed? or was there a 5 speed D/R, besides the foriegn one.... seems like a 5 speed would be much more enjoyable for highway driving

I haven't broken my swapbar, but it does make a nice poping noise sometimes when i turn, sometimes when the drivers side suspension unloads a bit... i'm betting you're onto something with the torque specs.. i just torques the crap out of the link bolts when i put them on I looked up the torque specs.. here we go: Front Suspension Stabilizer bar -Stabilizer bar bushing clamp bolts ... 16 to 21 -Stabilizer-to-link bolts/nuts ... 28 to 37 -Link-to-controling arb bolts/nuts ... 16 to 22 all are in Ft-lbs the rear end is about the same, maybe a little more

A while back i checked out how bad it would be to order the king springs directly from AU, it took a while to get in touch w/ them, These are the rates i was told Front Coils AUD $ 155.00 per pair Rear Coils AUD $ 155.00 per pair FedEx Air (3-7 days) AUD $ 265.00 per (set of 4 coils) Total del. you is AUD $ 575.00 (set of 4 coils) Payment can be made via credit card or direct business account deposit. http://www.x-rates.com/calculator.html It's about $424 USD right now, iwhich is EXACTLY what they're charging on Renik... minus shipping, so it may actually end up being cheaper to get them from AU... lol.. wierd... I like the look of them! wish i could get the $$ to do the swap eventually

lol very classy, i like it

cut off the back, and make it an old school baja/brat mix!
-
Alright, if you still want street drivability (not super loud like super swampers) i'd go w/ BFGoodrich All terrains, i believe they make a 16" (Baja's run 16" rims right?) version small enough. As for a lift, i don't think there's any suspension parts you can swap out to make it taller really, but there are a few people on this board who could make you strut spacers, or even a unibody type lift. You could also check out the Offorad forum, there's good stuff there about offroading/tires etc.. I haven't talked to many people who really like to offroad their baja's and i cant' wait to see pics of it@! eh, i'm sure people who know more will chime in

like 2 minutes ago? lol... yeah you like the rope holding the plastic cover on? i sort of had an issue w/ a mud pit.. where the cover didn't want to come out I'm in the process of talking to the guy w/ the bender, to make the push bar, maybe even tonight
-
I've hit those blocks before.. never knew they'd set off the airbags
-
Nice job at the photoshopping there! i didn't even notice it the 1st time around! i was thinking i'd just cut off the tow hooks, and then throw in a gnarly skid plate
-
I think the knocking is the swapbar being pissed off.. at least mine is.... ?
-
Here it is! on the car.... it didn't want to go on... because when i welded it up the mount got closer to eachother.. by about 1/8" of an inch.. so a little grinding, and some rapidly spinning 1/2" titanum (the bolt holes were off too...) and everything was good. So there it is... no shackles or push bar yet.. but.. whatever i'll get paint sometime too.. it'll have to come off tonight, since it's supposed to rain! eek!

I wouldn't wheel in many places w/ posted signs... you don't want any trouble...

i've heard double the weight.. so if you have a 2000lbs car, you should have at LEAST 4000# winch. and... i don't think i'd try to lift the car verticle... 1) your fuel pump will become un-immersed, and your engine will die... leaving your alternator to die... and you'll be stuck verticle

i think i have the same skiis awesome! i wish there were trails like that 'round here :-\ looks like a great time!

Jeffords sucks, they're WAY over priced... they wanted 200+ for all the steel i got... i got it from Capitol Steel in Monpielier VT. I got: 20ft 2" round tube 6ft 1.5" round tube 8ft 2x2 square tube 15"x24" 1/8" plate all for $117 they have funny hours, so it's good to call them ahead of time. But they were pretty cool, i walked up to the office, and the guy just told me to head over to the warehouse, tell the guys what i needed, and they cut it right up for me. I can't wait to get it all done Oh yeah, it's weighs 48.83lbs

I don't think making & selling them would be much of a good thing for me 1) I talked to John (mudrat) and he was very excited about me making my own bumper, but said if i was 'copying' his design, he's appreciate it if i didnt' duplicate them too much. 2) I spent 8.5 hours welding TODAY 3) I spent 4.5 hours welding, YESTERDAY, all together i think i've spent well over 48 hours, cutting, welding, bending you name it (Like john told me it would)... AND it's not done yet I'm going to get some 1/2" plate, and cut out the inside part of the square tube there, and weld the crap out of it, and mount my shackles there, and then i'll have to make my push bar So, if you want to pay for about 120 bucks of steel, a plasma cutter, a TIG welder, and about 48 hours of labor, sure.. but... i don't have that kind of time on my hands :-\Hopefully i can make a phone call and get that 1/2" plate up here on monday.. but if not it'll be a while till i get the shackle mounts made. The push bar should be next week sometime... And yes, we play original Nintendo, ALOT, Dr. Mario all the way, we crank the volume, and play it for HOURS... yes.. we're nerds, and love it. Also, I'll have to look up that 'engine paint' sounds good to me, do you run a coat of primer under it? or just straight on the metal?

Almost done!! i spent a good 8.5 hours on the TIG today... a few minute on the MIG.. then i realized that i suck at MIG... Gonna pick up some paint tomorrow, clean it up real nice... good times... phew.. i need a shower
-
air down the tires (~10 psi ish), try to keep a constant speed... low gears for torque.. you should be fine.. and bring a shovel
-
So i got to use the school's TIG last night, for about 4.5 hours, and got some things tacked together... it's not the prettiest thing ever, but i've never TIG'd before... so it was an experience Anyhow, my liscence plate is the most overly welded piece on there... (the holder, not the plate)... we must have spent a good 45 minutes just messing around w/ the TIG with that, lol.. oh well here's the pics you've all been waiting for: As you can see the liscence plate mounts have blobs above them.. that was the completely over-welding... i'm going to head back sometime & clean it all up (i love TIG welders ), but the tacks on the vertical parts came out pretty well, we only fried the tip once Sometime this week i'm going to get some 1.75" round tube and bend up my basher/push bar
-
if you're worried about stuf fon the floors, you could just weld some plate onto your tube doors there... match it up flush w/ the floor... eh?
