  1. we were thinking of plasma cutting out a subaru logo for the front there with some aluminum plate, but then i remembered that NH requires a front liscence plate... The directionals will be the stock ones i think... just right on the bend there, to the sides of the main mounts. As for lights... i might just mount my KC's to the sides of the liscence plate, and wait to make the bull bar until i get the lightforces Oh yeah, i'm gonna hit it up with some primer, of course, and then i think a few rattle cans, as close gray as i can to the trim, and then clear coat it, for a little extra protection.
  2. like that? goto your local gear shop, and ask if they have any old crappy load bars hanging around... then cut it to length if you need to, and fab. up some ghetto mounting system. I also ran the wire up the trip on the A-pillar, the trim isn't happy though.. i need to modify that a little bit
  3. woohoo!! it's getting there, last night we spent say... a good 5-6 hours bending, plasma cutting, welding & using 'the answer' on the bumper. It's almost there, i still need to cut up the vertical supports, fix the large mistake we made on the drivers side (we bent it in the wrong place... and tried to fix it...). Other than that, it's one burly bumper... have a bit more to weld, and have to still bend up the bull bar, and do some notching. Here are the pics we have so far It looks kind of funny when none of the front things (headlights etc..) are bolted in.. but you get the idea. hopefully i can get in the shop and finnish this up in a week or so.
  4. It's all highway driving, about 68-73mph, i'm driving it relitivly lightly (not lead footed...), the exaust smells normal, not too lean or rich, and the tranny shifts fine, all the way into drive, and overdrive when it gets a chance. I just changes the tranny fluid last week too. It also has new brake shoes in the back.. but they dont' seem to be dragging that much... I'll have to go smell the exaust a little more to see if she's actually running properly...
  5. Alright, so i drove from potsdam to rochester today, and my milage is SUCKING, i calculated roughly 15mpg... what's going on? new stuff on the car: -O2 Sensor -Borla Headers -Wheels & Tires she's all alligned and stuff... i sea foamed the vacc line a week or so ago... new fuel filter, air filter seems to be clean.. I keep getting the freaking 'fuel temp senor' CEL (P0181), so i pulled out the main sending unit today, and checked it out, all the wires and stuff seem to be good, all the solders seem to be good.. can't figure it out... it drives a little sluggish also... and i'm getting like.. 40 miles per 1/4 tank!! BOOO!! there's a good dealer that's open tomorrow at 8am, what do i need to get? i have 700 miles to drive tomorrow.. and refueling every 200 miles is not cool. So what's the deal... If i could get a good diagnosis by 8am tomorrow, it'd be awesome... oh yeah, it's 97 impreza obs, 4eat, 2.2l, 171k on her
  6. mine did the same thing, it's the relay, you've gotta' pull the rear trip, passenger side, and it's screwed to the body right under the brakes lights, sometimes it heats up if you strain the motor, and the contacts get corroded.
  7. if you can tap it out, with a punch & hammer, or something like that, then you can get a standard sized bolt in there (stainless will help with the rust..) and just bolt it up like normal... if you position it right you don't even need to get a socket up in there... but you might want to to keep it from stripping stuff around...
  8. i'll trade you your bumper for the lights
  9. BBQ! WOOHOO i'm in lemme know where & when (i don't like to read.. )
  10. yeah, i'd like to not drop 50 bucks every time i need it to be alligned...
  11. make that 1/2" drive a 3/4" drive... don't want to be breaking any breaker bars now... and 1 1/4" is just about 32mm, also.
  12. it's super easy if you can get those damn strut bolts loose!! i must have spent a good 1/2 hour on each one... until i found the 6ft steel tube.... about 10 seconds each then
  13. did you have them set the camber like that? because if you did, you're just wasting money on tires... every 6k miles.... hell i do 6k miles on a trip sometimes... i'd go get that thing alligned properly...
  14. i was guessing coming down the hill on the right side there i've never rolled.. but i think i've been close....
  15. Lights? what lights? and who said impreza's don't go offroad... or that subi's can't flex I'll soon have bigger tires, more lift, more lights (yeah.. i'll find somewhere for them), and a tube bumper
  16. hey.. my milage is sucking too, i've got a leak right after the 2nd car.. right on the joint there.. thihnkning we're just going to weld the snot out of it, and get some new o2 sensors...
  17. you need an AWD 5spd MT... that's about it... well, along w/ a rear diff, axles, and hubs i think that's it?
  18. you're going to want to flush out that tranny.. alot... if it drives around w/ the fron spinning like that it could heat up that fluid pretty fast. other than that... great catch! i think the fluid may help your reverse too
  19. There's a Subaru Offroad section, on this board.. you may want to look there
  20. i just throw it in 3rd if it's that bad... no problem, that's why you don't have to push the button to shift from D<->3
  21. 1997 Impreza OBS AWD 4EAT, 4WD switch Forester Struts (1.5" lift..) 205/60/15 (~25") Dunlop Graspic DS2 Snowtires (Steel Wheels) 215/60/16 (~26") Cooper Lifeliner Classics II (Forester Alloys) [these tires suck...] 195/16/15 (~24.3") & 205/60/15 (~24.7") Yokohama Avid Touring (Another set of Steels) yes.. i have way to many tires.... Custom PVC Snorkle Re-grounded battery stuffs... CB Radio, Roof Lights, Driving lights, extra dome light... all sorts of little mods. Soon to have a hard core-offroad bumper
  22. Dude, i'm serious... when i got to drive the school minivan (silly school should have learned better..) i drove it over to our house, and i managed to bash the bottom of the bumper on our driveway we also found out that the 'traction active' light overrides the 'door ajar' light.. but not the ABS light let's just say that van has seen better days
  23. soo.. low... the bump into our driveway would take out your bumper....
  24. a "tinny scraping kind of sound" can sometimes come from your exhaust heat shields... you're saying at 2k rpm.. each time.. i'm guessing that it's the engine vibrations through the exhaust... if you're dead set on your tranny, check the fluid levels/colors.. consider changing the fluid...
