So with the alloys, my tires have about 1" more diameter than my other tires... is this enough to make the gearing suck on the highway? on my way through VT today on the highway it'd just shift going up hills, when it usually doesnt... blah! i was thinking maybe it's just the tires... OR the engine is being starved for air, due to the snorkle.... i dunno...

yeah.. i deff. put the tranny side on 1st, SO MUCH EASIER. i used a drill bit to probe for the hole, because i put on the hub side. ALSO, to get the pin in, i took all my socket extensions (like 10-13" of extensions), put a tiny socket on the end of this contraption, so th epin doesn't slide around, and hammered on it that way...

Pulling a dual range & throwing it in an OBS

well i've changed my mind AGAIN... went out to the junk yard last night.. and realized that the car isn't in as good shape as i though.. i has 2 windows left, body work is disgusting, missing some axles & hubs (mis matched), it's got 1 wheel, and about 20 old car batteries in it... hmm... i dunno if i have the $$ to fix it up right now.. d'oh... and there's another car leaning on it now -
simple solution.. go buy a short handled 3lb hammer... cheaper than a set of tires :-p

damn you Austin!!! beat me again.... i'm getting the steel for mine tomorrow, or monday.. .just you wait.. muhahaha

Alright, so i think i've made a better descision... instead of pulling the tranny, i'm just going to buy the wagon.. and fix it up give it a good lift.. maybe frop a ej22 in it... that way i won't have to mess w/ my impreza anymore than it's already been messed with... this'll make the girlfriend happy, that i'm not messing w/ my only car, but instead messing with a car that isn't required to get me places... mmm... good call me... muhahaha that means i have more stuff to play with.. i've got the impreza, the BMW, and another subaru, lol... go me... my insurance is going to hate me.. -
damn.... was that a subaru at one point!??!
-
not that close... when we got on some REALLY steep stuff it kept sliding down the hill.. not rolling
-
yeah zap, those swaybars are NOT happy at all... do yours make popping noises when you flex it out? it used to be just the rear.. now it's both oh well.. i figured out why it only looked like i had a lift in the front... there was about 400lbs of crap in the trunk, and box. Now w/ the box empty and the trunk cleared out (and no more spare tire) i've got about 1" more clearance for the back.. d'oh!

We had some good times yesterday playin' around outside, hill climbs were had, 'flex wars' were hard, very good times. I've got a ton of action shots but it'll take forever to put them on here you can check out here: http://people.clarkson.edu/~johnsoad/subi/7spfun/ for all of them here's one of my favorite's the back tire there is about 8 inches off the ground... yes, very good times were had

!!! freaking impreza rear ends... i've got some wheel bearings going AGAIN (3rd time) but this time i'm not going to drop 300 bucks in the shop, i want to do it myself this time, SOOO what do i need (part Numbers & Tools), and how do i do it... Pop the axle nut off, and pull out the axle i'd suspect.. and then what? should i go rent a bearing puller from autozone/advanced or something? This could be something for the ultimate subaru repair manual oh yeah, i'm running an impreza obs, 97, i need legacy bearings though... right?

Man you people sure get rilled' up about some funny things. He uses the forester for OFFROAD PURPOSED ONLY (or mostly, whatever). He's not going to go ricing around your neighborhood with the thing.. it's got a 4" lift and huge tires... yall' just need to get over yourselves and chill out a bit... Forest Ranger, go for it w/o the muffler, it won't hurt your motor, you'll get a little more nut when you're playing offroad, and you'll piss off all the people who have their heads too far up their asses to understand what you were asking
-
if you can fit 215/75/R15(or16) under an impreza you'd better be able to fit them in a forester....
-
damn you scoobyclimbs! my next set of lights is going to be some lightforce 170's!! beat me too it... !! maybe i'll get some 240s... 9" diameter will look good on the front bumper

I've got the original rack back home... The problem w/ the old one was that one of the directions of motion was... very hard (when we took it out) so the universal joint was not happy... i fired her up thismorning, and it was fine.. a nice 32 degrees out.. i'll try to bleed the rack again and see if that helps any...
-
1) Steering Yoke = Universal joints from steering column to rack. 2) It ONLY does it when it's warm 3) It feels the same as it did when i had a busted bearing in the yoke last summer (Large rock lodged itself in there & messed up stuff) I've got a 2nd rack back at home... sounds like a crappy way to spend my long weekend coming up.. changing the rack AGAIN.. and getting it alligned... AGAIN... hmmm I tried cranking the wheel alot before i left the parking lot yesteday morning, and it seemed to help a little, but by the time i got to campus it was doing it again... the middle range of the steering is fine, but yet, when gets to that 'point' it feels like there's no power steering. I suppose i could drop down the rack, and pop the yoke off and see if all the bearings are still intact... perhaps a little to muc offroading / driving in nasty ruts could have added to much stress to the universal joints.... maybe... There's a yoke hanging off the impreza at the junk yard i might go grab just in case.
-
Well, a ways back when i messed up my steering yoke it felt the same way.. but now w/ this new one in, it feels exactly the same when it's cold out.. especially when it's rained/iced... There's ALOT of resistance around 12-20deg from centered (on the steering wheel that is). I'm going to try to nail the steering yoke w/ some PB Blaster and see if that helps.... i really don't feel like replacing that thing in the cold... again...

yes, oem cat. , i'm sure jamie could help you out if you can't find it vie that drilldown.. but it's pretty easy...

Sometimes.... i'm in NY right now though

I'd go w/ the strut swap first, and if you need more.. then get more. my forester strut swap loves being abused... and as for the AWD auto, it rocks in just about anything! especially if you can lock that center clutch pack but yeah, i'm planning on getting the same size tire austin has, and i most likely will have to do some large hammer work.
