  1. Not deep enough! Let's see water up to the top of the windshield!!! heh.. very cool, fun stuff!
  2. here's mine Austin & Zap have alot of pics posted on this board too. If you're looking for a how-to you can look here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=50268 If you have an 4EAT Tranny you can also modify it to have a locking center clutch pack, it's in the offroad modifications section there too. With the forester Struts & Springs you can fit some BFGoodrich 28"ers on there with minimal hammering of the inside fender
  3. i dont' know exactly, but my 205/60/R15's picked up the back cardboard thing a good inch or 2. I suppose you could use a BFH and make the compartment bigger.. i thought about this a while ago, but there's not much room in there to swing
  4. Yes, forester struts + springs will give you a good amount of lift, i've got just forester struts in my impreza, and it's a good 1.5" taller than stock, Zap, Austin, and Noah have the struts and springs i think, and that'll put you up another 1.2"-1" There are also people who make lift kits for newer gen. subaru's and i'm sure they'll chime in sometime today Once you put in some taller suspension in there you can throw on some 28" tires or larger if you've got the tools to cut/beat your fenders with.

    Suba-Skidder

And people make fun of me for carrying a chain in my subaru, Whatever! the jeep wouldn't even make it up the hill i romped up to get there, muhaahah!!
  6. no the full size is to tall, the diameter is almost the right size, but the 6.5" or whatever it is is a little to much. i mean.. by all means you can put it there, but your trunk stuff is going to have a wheel shaped bump in the floor.

    Suba-Skidder

So a subaru makes a great skidder for small scale logging opperations We dragged 7-8 LARGE trees out of the woods with my roo'. While the jeep sat at the bottom of the hill It was some pretty nasty snow, not that much, but it was crusty, with alot of powder underneith. We're building a heavy weight sled for our winterfest thing this year I only got stuck once, just lost all traction trying to pull out a good 40fter... about 8" diameter the whole way... it was rough! go go gadget subaru!
  8. i don't know, but i'm guessing that the caliper might rub with smaller wheels... you should measure it up...

    New Subaru?

you can use the search function, Austin, Zapar, Noah, and myself have lifted imprezas, and many others have lifted their new-gen subarus, look for 'roll call for lifted rigs'
  10. yeah, i get the same thing mt. biker gets, if i crank it all the way over i just stop. If i turn it all the way, and stomp on it (yeah, not good for things, but for testing purposes..) it jumps a little. So have we solved the mystery? if you really insist on making it not flash, after you use it, turn the car off, then on, off, then on again
  11. First i'd check your CV joints, if the boots are ripped (upper or lower) get those fixed ASAP. Next i'd check the very top large strut bolt, mine came loose a while back, and evey time that side suspension went 'down' a bit it would clunk, because the bolt was like.. 4 turns off of being seated (eek!) you could also be pissing off your swaybar, mine hates the taller suspension, and makes a 'pop'ing noise sometimes.
  12. dude, i think your switch is backwards, i just went out and tested, with the switch off (4wd) starting the car, it blinks alot with the switch on (AWD) the light blinks the 1st time i start AFTER running w/ the 4wd on, the next startup it's fine, no blinking.
  13. we were holding the brakes while doing it... my friend had to hold onto the steering wheel pretty tight too as to not have that turn alot too
  14. I think i'm going to go get a 3/4" slider, we've got a 1/2" at home, and i've never had any problems with it, this bar was sort of a cheapo.. but lifetime warrenty, so i'll get a new one tomorrow for other applications
  15. it seems that i'm going to need alot more PB blaster, and a new breaker bar.... I guess i should keep the 5ft steel pipe away from the new one...
  16. yeah, i figured on the clutch pedal already, i think the whole cluster just comes out.. and you replace it w/ another one i believe...
  17. I read someone about them in the 'ultimate repair manual' but so the newer diffs have them.. since my rear diff often finds itself submerged.. i figured it'd be a good idea to run a tube off of that to minimize diff....messing up aye? i'll guess if it ever stops raining/snowing/50mph winding i'll get under there and take a look for myself
  18. lol, it's as good as he said it would be. I like how it floated hopefully when the everything turns non-frozen i can try out my snorkle But hopefully by then i'll have more lift, and bigger tires! w00t! go Austin! show that impreza who's boss. oh yeah, and i had an idea about those covers in the engine there, maybe you should put a 1 way valve in the bottom of the stock cover... so it'll drain, and hopefully not screw up your bearings again.
  19. take out the current strut, take your new OB top, place it on the holes from the TOP SIDE (engine compartment) and mark where you need to drill the holes, the orientation of the cap doesn't really matter... i think.. (i hope )
  20. When i hear 'flush' the transmission i think what i did, i changed the fluid 3-4 times, because you won't get all the fluid out bu just doing it once. You've gotta' drain the sucker, plug it, fill er' up, drive around for a bit, do it again, etc.. until the fluid in there is all nice & red. As for testing yout duty solenoid C, check out this thread, i wrote it a while ago, it's for locking up the center clutch pack, but it shows how to test the solenoid resistance, it should be in the 9-13 ohms range http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=50263 Hope it helps! and maybe you could cut the power to the solenoid, and try to lock it up... it may be stuck in the open position (FWD), and not giving power to your rear end there.
  21. how exactly are you testing this? And when it does engage (should always be on) it'll be AWD, not 4x4, with 4x4 you will get some nasty binding when you turn. the best way i've found to test if it's working, it to get yourself high centered on a large snowbank, and see if a wheel in the front & back are turning...
  22. a consequence of doing so would be, being able to fit larger tires in there they might rust if you don't paint over it when youre done too...
  23. This may not be the smartest idea, but i take an elbow to the top of the window where the glass meets the gasket, cracks the ice, door opens fine Just don't do it too hard, or when it's uber cold.. of you break a window
