Road Trip: VT -> TN and back again, Free Camping?
Andyjo replied to Andyjo's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
The Impreza made it! woohoo!~ 3000+ miles, averaging about 27mpg, loaded how pretty hard. This came out to be roughly 8 cents a mile. Had the box on the roof, no A/C, windows open on the highway. gogo gadget subaru! What The Girl & I did: Got a new Air Filter Played with shopping carts at Albany Toys R' Us Did a 300ft deep cave in West Va. Stopped by IMO (Inner Mountian Outfitters, Caving Store...) Went to 'The Birthplace of Country Music Museum' (sorta' sucked') Met Strakes's Wife, got the wheels. Flew up through cincinnatti, had some buffalo wings, and then up and across Canada (lots of jokes were had) over to niagra falls. Headed over to Schoharie NY, stoped at Speleobooks, got some more Stickers... Then back to VT & NH! cheapest gas we saw on the trip was $2.15 in VA, off of 81 somewhere whoah! time to pass out! -
If you can get a fuel injected engine to stall out before you tip it.. congradulations i'm guessing when the suspension starts to unload.. you're going to have more issues then tipping going on..

Subie94, get your lifting parts, so we can have a lifting party :-p -
So i poped open the hood, and the clutch for the compressor isn't engaging. Checked the fuse, its fine, un-plugged & plugged in the cables into the compressor. Still doesn't work.. any ideas? maybe the relays? how do i check those.... Edit - idea: can i short out the pressure switch to see if that's what's making it not work? i can't seem to find an A/C wiring diagram in my haynes.
-
well the average subi is what... 2500lbs.. ish so on 4 wheels you get 625lbs each... with 8 you'd get 312.5lbs each... that is if it's evenly distributed.. which it isn't... but still! not to shabby! i want a set fo rall 4 corners

Now that's the way i like to see if things are broken or not I wouldn't have paid for the codes being pulled... just freak out, start yelling, cause a scene... i'm sure the manager would let it slide if you started doing that -
i want to see a new gen with those on it.... and then i'd cry laughing so hard
-
They're for carrying more weight.. right? well a subaru suspension will destroy itself by the time the 2nd wheel would ever help you.... It sure would look funny though.

I've gotten alot of mud on my roof.. the trick was to go very fast into deep mud, but half way in, slam it into reverse, and cut the wheel to full lock (either direction), while flooring it. This accomplished many things... The first, getting mud on the top of your car The Second, Spraying everyone in the area with nice wet, sloppy mud. and it also gets a huge freaking rock stuck in between your motor and steering yoke.. then you have to rip it all apart.. grrr oh yeah, and it looks like they forgot to get mud on the back wing of the STi

Sweet! now the world will know to look out when they're off-roading! the Subaru's will lap you!

I feel like that at school! I drive around my subaru, covered in mud, and there's these kids with lifted trucks, suv's and stupid escilades, trying to be cool. They need some of that spray on mud, HAHA

So my forester struts came in the mail today, and I've been questioned many times about why i want to lift my Subaru, most of these times it's been from the girlfriend.. i finnally figured out WHY, exactly, i need to lift it... my simple reply is now: "So you don't bash your face/skull on my Thule bars anymore " (yeah, it's happened.. more than once..) Anyone else have amusing justification for lifting your roo' ? something like "the guys on USMB told me to!"
-
An impreza could take that.. it just depends on what you want it to look like when you're done with it.. maybe with a 4" lift, and some good tires

My girlfriend and i are going to be taking a road trip next weekend (for 5-7days) from Northern Vermont to Knoxville TN. On the way we'll be doing some Caving, Site Seeing, Hell Raising, and the such. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas where we could camp for free on the way, there's always walmart parking lots.. but that's no fun.. here's our planned Route. Any info would be great! Along with emergency #'s if you're willing to help us out just incase the rear end of my subi descides to fall off, or something rediculous like that! Thanks!
