Don't mind the flat tire in the pic... darn leaky valve stem... hmmm.. looks like the height of a legacy! but w/ OB body styling... crazy!! i guess that's what you get when you put some megan racing coilovers under her so to that i say! Goodbye Body Roll, Goodbye extreme tilting of the car on hard accelerations & braking, and Hello Adjustible Ride Height & Damping! and yes, i did fix the valve stem :-p

Well, i'm guessing you have a newer OB/Legacy, like 05+ on some select models there's a filter that filters the air going into your climate control system, i guess it's for people w/ allergies, or who drive through gary indiana alot It's very much a pain to get to, it's located behind the glove box, so you have to remove that, and pull a bunch of crap out of the way... i know i read a walkthrough somewhere... no clue where though.

actually i think that was me in both cases  but yeah, my switch actually bridged, and locked it up... towing a trailer on the highway. and it may have been abused offroad.. .alot. after i fried my awd :-\ i pulled the switch, and checked the resistance in both the on and off positions, got the same thing, so.. switch was fried. now, i'm sure if you used a better switch that i did (we just used something we found in the barn), say something that could handle up to 20-50amps, then you'd be all set, or even use a relay... which would have been the smart thing to do but... then again i was young and stupid.. and have my te 4eat taken apart in my shop now

Oil Leak

i was going to say.. it's a subaru.. it leaks oil.. but it shouldn't go that fast like nipster said, the oil pump is a good place to start, there's some phillips screws oh the top end of it that come loose, tighten them up and you may have fixed your problem. and it's not that bad to get down in there, that's where i'd start at least, because when mine did that, it would travel all the way to the headers... and that smelt good  -
yeah, it's def. not welded on there, but it is pressed on there mighty tight. i'll email jamie and see what i can get for part numbers and such. i figured i might do what nipster said and get 'new' parts.. so that part there, along with the clutch plates, and solenoid. the prices don't look that bad on genuinesubi parts i think it was 63 for the solenoid, and 103 for the plates i think. and yeah.. it looks like i could press the part off if i were careful... or just have a shop do it :-p

If i remember right, there IS a Duty Solenoid B... what it does..well that you can leave up to your imagination. :-p It's location... i believe it's in the middle half of the tranny, not so accessible when it's in the car :-\ maybe the code reader is confused? are you sure you're getting power to the rear wheels?

Rusty Rotors
Andyjo replied to lhrocker's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX
That's going to take a WHOLE lot of brakeing to get rid of -
I'd check your tire circumferences asap, because a new set of tires is alot cheaper than a new transmission.. or... hours of agony, and having nipster say 'told you so' in smily face form  something else that might cause it.. highly unlikely... how about an unbalanced drive shaft? The steering yoke is also another wierd thing alot of people would overlook, my OBS had one sieze, and it would shake all over the place, i soaked it in PB blaster a few times.. helped a little, but replacing the part was much more effective.
