    You can obtain the round relays for a direct plug-in replacement. Don't go to a dealer though as they want $35 each. Instead, Google the number on the side of the relay. I did this and found a supplier for $8 each. Not as cheap as the square ones but not so much more either.

    Looks like an alignment pin between Trans and engine.

    I think you are right. The car came with an old crapper gas cap off something else and it is falling apart. I need to get another.

    I am sitting in line in my Loyale at th e ferry Dock with the engine off. There is a gurgling noise coming fom the trunk area near the gas tank. Any ideas? I did fill up about 30 min ago.

    The clock has an undersized resistor that heats up and over time can melt the solder joint causing it to fail.

    There is an access port where the engine meets the trand. Remove the rubber plug. Try rotating the crank by hand with a wrench until the marks show up. Color them in with white chalk and they will show up. Be sure your timing light is triggering off piston one which is the front most on the passenger side.

    EA82 timing belts are 180 degrees out of phase. This has tripped up folks before. There is a famous youtube video of a guy who took his loyale to Canadian Tire for timing belts. They got it wrong. Oh and for the love of God people, never let the tire place do major engine work.

    Now that the Scion brand will, thankfully, be discontinued, the FRS will become a Toyota. In my opinion this can only enhance the FRS. Apologies to any Scion fans out there but having the Scion logo on the car made it less desirable. Some folks of course don't care about such things. Thoughts?

    Lifter tick? Try some seafoam on the oil. About 1/4 bottle drive 50 miles and change oil. 8 bucks it may be worth a shot.

    I am dealing with lifter tick on my 92 Loyale. Put seafoam in oil and so far tick is reduced greatly. Not completely gone, but reduced at least 60 percent.

    Those screws are made of soft metal and can become stripped. You can order a replacement from Subaru for cheap. Why they made it with a set screw I will never understand. Even American cars of the 60's had snap on rotor designs.

    Did you take the distributor cap off and see if the rotor rotates when you crank it? Also wiggle the rotor gently to ensure the screw is holding it.

    They can be removed by undoing the four nuts holding them in. Once out, the lens is held by clips and a gasket with glue. After removing the clips you should be able to separate the lens by breaking the seal. Or once the assembly is removed pour a cleaning solution (windex?) And slosh around. Rinse and oven dry for 30 min at 200 degrees.

    Check iac circuit. Any codes thrown? Check the three fuel hoses are correct into throttle body. They are all routed side by side and can easily be accidentally swapped.

    You should also notice better gas mileage.

    Put new battery connectors on the cables.Had to cut out about 3 inches of the pos cable dues to corrosion.

    This may be a stupid answer but why couldn't you just unhook the hoses going into the firewall and join them with a short length of copper pipe? Come winter hook them back to the firewall.

    Sometimes economics dictate we just "live with it".

    Squeaking has nothing to do with iac. Could be the idler pulley bearing.

    Maybe you can find polyeurothane replacements.

    No but the engine should be off. Just pop off the hose, plop in a small bit of cleaner like Berryman's , pop hose backnon. Wait 5 min and start. It may be hesitant to start I immediately. Once going, iac should hold at idle. Additional treatment may be needed.

    Replaced both front axles on Ash this weekend. Had to scavenge one of Uno's wiper blades to replace the one on Ash the flew off while driving home in the storm last night. Never again will I rely on snap on connectors.

    If you aren't up to buying a new axle, swap them and see if the problem moves. To me personally it isn't worth my time to fiddle with used axles.

    Had a similar issue with my Loyale. Put a cap full of Berryman's in the iac and let it sit 5 min. Just pop off the hose and pop it back on. I consider this a semi annual maintenance task.
