  1. I did the very same thing, forgot to loosen before the motor came out. Used an air impact wrench and she came right off.
  2. Yeah when my engine went in really easy I said "Gdamn that was easy."
  3. Welcome! I love the series blue stitching. That is the one I would get if I was in the market for one right now.
  4. Got the roundie relays. They were less than $7 each at densoproducts.com and they threw in three free pairs of nitrile gloves! Headlights both work a full strength. I got the CEL light cleared and fixed by changing the purge solenoid. Now I just need to work on the running lights and dash lights. Does anyone know where the "main lighting relay" is located? My Haynes manual shows one on the schematic but no physical location. UPDATE: The relay labelled "main lighting relay " on he Haynes manual schematic is really the left headlight relay. Not the first time Haynes has led me astray .
  5. I am sorry to hear about your wife's grandmother. I too am addicted to Loyales (but the sedan model). Bought mine new in 1994 and still drive it today. Someone was taking advantage of her though, as these cars do not require 10 thousand dollars to maintain. I am unaware of any die cast models of these cars. One that looked similar was used as part of the US Ski Team in the 80's so there might be memorabilia out there of that. There is a thread on this topic: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/135944-tell-me-everything-you-know-about-ski-team-wagons/ Good luck.
  6. How much does it cost them to make the chicken pasta and cheesy brad? I paid over $17 delivered today for that.
  7. Congrats. I love the blue stitching better than the red. Yes I am jealous.
  8. Take off the distributor cap. Is the set screw on the rotor shaft tight? It can fall off and the distributor will not turn at all. If the screw is there and tight with the disty cap off, have someone crank it and watch to see if the rotor spins. Report back results.
  9. I think you are charting new territory by taking it apart while it is in the car. Only suggestion I have is to remove it from the vehicle and assembly it on a nice clean warm bench inside. I am not saying you can't do it like you are doing, but I suspect it will take lots of cuss words before the job is done.
  10. Airbags aren't all that. In fact these days, it is best not to have them. Google Takata airbag recall. Nice looking BRAT and welcome.
  11. Ordered four of the "roundie" relays for Ash. They are a standard Denso relay 056700-5260. You do not have to go to Subaru to get these. https://www.densoproducts.com/product.aspx?zpid=14527

  13. That's nothing compared to the 247,000 cars Toyota is recalling for the same grenade shrapnel airbags from Takata: http://www.edmunds.com/car-news/toyota-recalls-247000-cars-for-defective-airbag-inflators.html Many other carmakers are having to issue recalls for these airbags as well. Basically an industry supplier Takata, made defective airbags that affect nearly every maker out there. Not saying you were trying to imply anything, just putting this in context. NOTE: The recall is critical for those that live in moist climates as that is a contributing factor. If anyone in the Pacific Northwest region owns any brand on the recall list, for the love of god, get it fixed now!
  14. You will prob get a pilot bearing with the clutch (I got one with my Exedy clutch, which is the OEM supplier). This image shows the pilot bearing and clutch release bearing(also know as the throwout bearing).
  15. Did you check between the middle console and the seats? Many a lost item turns up years later in those spots. Of course if Ben came to visit Seattle, he would get to meet Enteroctopus dofleini. Uno has garage space. Just sayin...
  16. I am glad you finally got a grille. I will have to drive back so we can retake that photo of our cars together.
  17. Last weekend I fixed the master power window switch. Now this weekend I worked on the headlights. I got them working but then the instrument cluster lights and the running lights quit on me. Ordered some roundy Denso relays. Tomorrow I will try to see why the power locks blows a fuse.
  18. Got the headlights in Ash working. Turns out that a relay was bad. But now the cluster backlights and the running lights are out. Ordered some relays. Two steps forward, one step back.
  19. Got enough crap cleaned out of my garage that I can get my little sedan Ash inside to work on it. Ash spent his first night indoors. Now to sort out the door locks and headlight issues.
  20. Is there a number up near the bell housing? That might help identify it.
  21. His car came from the factory with dual range. Shouldn't it just swap right in?
