  1. Keep in mind that hose leaks can seal when the engine is off or at idle. Park the car and start the engine. Open the hood and manually rev the engine by manipulating the throttle cable. Give it a good high sustained rev to force any leak. Watch for small streams of coolant from the small hose in the side of T-Stat or any of the radiator hoses. A slit leak can self close and not drip at idle speeds, however at higher revs the coolant pressure increases and the leak opens up.
  2. My best feature is that I don't have any car payments. It is reliable and easy to maintain. I like the squareish looks on the Loyales (I must be a square myself). Things I dislike I have changed, such as the plastic sided radiator that went out 42K miles after I bought the car (2K out of warranty). I got an all metal radiator and have had it ever since with zero problems - I am up to 174K now. It only has 90hp, but it zips me around just fine. I have come to accept it for what it is and what it is not: It is NOT a Formula One racer. Was never meant to be. I sooo wish I could hastily pass that granny on the highway. It IS an economical reliable car that gets me places I want to go inexpensively. Best of all, my most favorite feature of the bunch is it has brought me in contact with the awesome folks of USMB!!!
  3. Yeah I really got to give it a proper cleaning. But last week I did the Cascade Loop, a 600 mile loop in Western Washington and this weekend I have a patient conference in Portland. Still deciding if I will get Crater Lake in the mix.
  4. Please be very careful and have someone there to call 911 should something go wrong.
  5. If yours has a carb then you don't have the idle air controller. Pictures and even videos if necessary can help us help you.
  6. Use the force Luke...... Or just do this: In the upper right corner of the screen, select your user name then My Profile--->Edit My Profile-->Member title.
  7. Check the wiring harness to the idle air controller.
  8. No jack rabbit launches, coast to a stop rather than gassing and the braking.
  9. If you put the transmission in gear, it makes mating it up much easier as the shaft cannot turn.
  10. I say go for it. Nothing ventured nothing gained.
  11. And it was such a beautiful little sedan too. <sniff>
  12. Thursday I did surgery on my keyless entry FOB that quit working when I had it in my pocket as I swam in the Gulf of Mexico. The salt water had shorted the batteries and it looked rusty inside. I washed the circuit board in the melted cooler water. Turns out a trip to Walgreens, an eyeglass repair kit (for the tiny screw driver) and a scotch brite pad and the keyless entry works once again. I did all this in a quick stop in Mobile Alabama.
  13. Mobile 1 high mileage 10W-30. Wanted 10W-40 but I had to settle for what I could get at the time. I think it will be OK with that. I am also using that same Purolator filter. I got an air filter on order from the local auto parts store for tomorrow. No one seems to stock the Loyale air filters anymore and they are special order.
  14. After putting on 6,570 miles in the month of August, I changed the oil and filter (using synthetic). We will see how many miles the trurn trip takes.
  15. Since the passenger wiper blew off my Loyale Sat during an Indiana downpour on SR 25, I stopped at O'Reilly's in Wabash. Replaced them as a pair and threw the driver side one in the trunk as a spare.
  16. Is it warrantied by Subaru? Better yet, if they install it, it should not void any factory warranty. If Best Buy does it, Subaru can use that as an excuse to deny warranty coverage.
  17. If I still had them I would give them to you. Sorry.
  18. Finally finished the bezel for my head unit. Didn't want to travel across the country with it flopping around.
  19. Got junk in the trunk? Try cleaning it out and see if it makes noise still. Rattling is different than the buh buh buh buh buh buh sound of bad shocks.
  20. Got a new set of rear shocks. No more rumbling. Uno is 100% for blast off tomorrow morning.
