I thought the basic codes could still be pulled, stupid lying article,oh well my bad. In regards to resetting the ECU,I have always disconnected the negative and just put my foot on the brake pedal for about a minute, seems to drain any power from hte system and has worked on all my cars, maybe the OBD II is different though? Still learning.

Ok these are rare as hens teeth over here in Australia, all the WRX owners snap em up for the closed deck and other goodies,so I figure I'd import one from the US.As the majority of you live there I was wondering what they go for with decent miles on them? I dont know what shipping would cost but just for the engine I doubt it wopuld be huge, and as my aussie dollar is doing better its not going to be a huge cost. Thanks Brett

Ok just lately I'll driving along and then out of nowhere a high pitched alarm sounds, now its not a noise from anything Broken just sounds like an alarm of some kind. The weird part is it goes away as soon as I press the brakes, reappearing occasionally. Now there are no warning lights and I have checked fluid levels and all seems ok.Since I dont have the car manual I figured one of the many guru's here would maube know. Thanks Brett P.S. Its the Legacy/Liberty

Im not aware if abything has been changes as I didnt get any service manuals with the car,The car has 215,000 k's on it.I cant see any sticker verifying a timing belt change at anytime so Im booking it anyway for one as you can never be too sure, everything else looks brand new under the engine bay but like I said I dont have any service histroy so Im just guessing. Also think it may have had a small accident as the front passenger door is just out of alignment and the inside if the left hand firewall is a bit of run off from still apparent from when sanding back a primed panel (the pink stuff).Apart from that it drives great and runs great and never gets hot in summer in 40 degree celsius heat with the air con running. So trying to convince my g/f to let me buy a sti front cut for it :D.

Ok as stated above I have a 95 Liberty, its the FWD version with a 5 speed manual. 1st: Whenever I cruise around at low speeds it sounds like an electric car,its not overly annoying but after racking my brain for solutions I figure someone may have had the same problem,it doesnt sound like a stuffed wheel bearing or major driveline issues but thats always likely to be it. 2nd: For some unknown reason there is water sloshing around in my dash somewhere, now it doesnt leak anywhere and all things work fine like the aircon, heater and so on.But you can imagine that its a bit concerning hearing water slosh around every now and then. Apart from these small things I am so glad I bought this car,it gets great mileage, the motor seems to have the necessary power when I need it, and it has miles of room in the interior when it looks like it will only seat 2.It has pretty high kilometres on it but never looks like missing a beat.

After actually taking the time to pop the bonnet on my car I walked away a bit redfaced in knowing now that it has coil packs instead of a distributor. No reason why I didnt notice this on the few times of checking fluid levels but it missed my attention.Sorry for question and If I had paid attention I would have seen this :-\ Might try some injector cleaner and resetting the ECU and see if that helps it out, plus start using some 98 RON fuel.

First off I'll say hi as Im a new guy to the forum,My names Brett and I have a 82 1800 wagon,95 liberty/legacy sedan and I guess the equivelent of your Escort GT,Plus I live in Western Australia too,SO HI everyone. The tech issue I have is while waiting for my manual to get here for the newly aquired 95 liberty,it seems to have a slight timing issue,So to get it sorted I need to know the procedure and degrees to set the timing on it,like removing a TPS or similar. By the way its a manual 2.2 2wd version. Thanks in advance. Brett
