  1. It could have been worse, they had someone on a radio letting them know the coast was clear, I just hope they had the right gear in the car, but judging by the age of the "radio man" they probably didn't. Was a smooth landing though, but man, the stupid things we do as kids .. oh did I say that out-loud? Difference was I did it on a BM bike track but I should have visited the hospital several times but it's like you have 9 lives when your young.
  2. Beautiful build!!! :slobber::slobber: All it needs now is some serious off-road meats and some scratches on the sides! J/k hehe I hope to have something that nice as a daily once I get back on my feet, then I can make my current brat a true off-road only beast! You going to the WCSS?
  3. I have a RC heli, the auction just ended yesterday, going to CR it soon, but lemme send you the link: http://www.revell.com/radiocontrol/rmxe3441.html

And a vid of a guy flying his .. I don't have a camcorder, so best I can do of mine.http://video.google.com/videosearch?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=s&hl=en&q=Revell+White+Wolf&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=wyVtStnQEY-BtwfKyvyIDA&sa=X&oi=video_result_group&ct=title&resnum=4# Everything works, few nicks on the main blades, but doesn't affect it's flying a bit. Very rugged and powerfull, this one is really a step-up from cheap toy grade, but still easy to control. I just made a 2 coat-hangers and 4 craft store styrofoam ball practice rig to get used to throttling it up easy (too fast has a tendency to flip most of the more powerful heli's on their heads) and just remember the controlls have to be trimmed every flight, but nothing too difficult. :)

  4. "Open container? What open container! This is a GREEN ECO vehicle! That's fuel man!" Yeah, you might not sell that one to smokey.
  5. Nice, how bright is it? Is it an LED light?
  6. Yeah, it's worked great, just have to wait till I can get some soda from HF too, looks like they have the best deal on that. Gonna get the coarse stuff for the more stubborn rusty bits like on the body rails. Really surprised that with just a CHEAP cheesy $15 air dryer that the kitty litter didn't turn to paste.

Gotta wait till something sells on ebay/CL or till I get my disability check on the 1st ... $243 doesn't go very far lol!

  7. Lookin' good!!! I'm going to look forward to seeing the pics!
  8. Snow!! You say it like it's a bad thing. Just gotta bring the long-handles and a tarp, and your good! Of course, if you have a wagon you don't have to brave the elements.
  9. SSSSSHhhhhh!!! When you read my mind, your not supposed to tell everyone what I'm thinking!! :-p ' Now I gotta go get a patent before someone steals my idea. There go the voices again ... must give brat more mods ... I wonder if they have anymore stickers at the dollar store ... been needing to add some horse power ... hmmmmm NOS stickers. !!
  10. Nice job, and welcome. (Oh btw, I'll take a L series Ute in black.)
  11. Ok, I will have to see if I can get a pick of this, not sure I still have any, but I had a pipe rack (consisted of a 4" PVC pipe the length of my brat just about with a nose cone and fins) that would have made a sweet tee-shirt launcher if I had the time and money to do it. I really would like to get the time/money to make the rack over the bed I have always wanted and to have a canvas cover that rolls out from the front (just behind the cab) to make a collapsing "topper" but I dunno if I will have that time/money for a long time.
  12. YES!!! you should!! I see a brat with 2-3 kegs in the back marked with various adult beverage labels AND a big painted sign on the sides saying "STALE ALCOHOL ECO VEHICLE" and in smaller print "Friends don't let Friends drink stale beer! Recycle it here!" Have little funnel topped "holding tanks" ... maybe several different ones labeled "beer, wine, spirits" like it was an official recycling center lol!! You could even have "double vision" versions of the labels for the beer-goggled below each one in parenthesis! (i.e. double vision, backwards, etc.)
  13. Looks sweet! So you have a lift in mind? Or are you doing a home-brew lift.
  14. Man, I love the "Have you been Off-Roo'd lately?!" Slogan ... maybe someone can make a bumper-sticker and sell them! (props to monstaru!) And may the best name (Off-Roo'd!!) win.
  15. WOW! :slobber::slobber: Great job! I'm going to have to build an extension onto my roll-bar like yours, really good looking rig! I'm still having to get used to seeing the solid axles under the brat, but hey! It really looks at home, and with all the low gears all I can say is wow!! :burnout::burnout: :clap: Now all you have to do is start making them for sale! (I can dream can't I? )
  16. +1 It's rarer maybe because Subaru puts the starter up higher and isn't as subject to road debris/water/snow, but the connections at the starter/solenoid might be corroded even if the battery and it's connectors are pristine. A friend of mine in the past had a old ford courier pu that always ran like crap, and stranded him once, and all I did was clean up the contacts beyond the battery going to the solenoid and starter motor and it started right up. Also since you mention it being cold and wet, did the car sit for any length of time? Even a week or 2 of sitting can affect a battery if the temperature changes considerably.
  17. One more thing I realized blasting some more today, you gotta keep the tank up-right (pays to read the side of the extinguisher ) and magically the media comes out in a steady flow. I realized since my hose from the extinguisher was on the short side, I just needed to extend the length of the hose and keep the tank vertical instead of holding it at an angle to get the tip close to the work.
  18. It's really very simple. Fire extinguishers are designed to use dry chemical powders, and baking soda (also known as sodium bicarbonate) has become a very popular sand blasting media for those who want to avoid the normal hazards associated with sand, glass beads and other blasting media. Baking soda isn't commonly used anymore in fire extinguishers except for very specific applications, the more common ABC dry chem is Ammonium Phosphate based powder (which isn't good to breath). So in other words, if you look at the first page, I show a pic and have a list of the parts to make it easily pressurized by an air compressor. The kitty litter isn't ideal (it isn't a uniform size) but it is cheap and effective. It does have a tendency to plug up the valve about every other tank, and just like using fire extinguisher, starting and stopping isn't a good idea, as the interrupted flow can cause the valve to plug. I try to just put 3-4 cups of media in it at a time and just use a constant flow. Here's a pic: This is exactly the amount of "blasting" I was looking for. It takes the loose stuff and leaves the well-bonded paint, and the rust is just cleaned up enough for a good coat of POR 15. I think the soda like you would buy at HF will be more coarse, but for my purposes, the kitty litter is the ticket. I think after using it a few times over the pieces should be smaller and more uniform, and should work even better.
  19. Good to know! I thought about trying that, do you have to let them cure for any length of time? I am sure I would have to clean the oil off first, but if I can do that, I would much rather to save $$$. I'm pretty limited these days.
  20. Yep! the only draw-back is now all the neighborhood cats are hanging around my brat looking for a place to dig a hole and leave a present!
  21. Ok, no pics yet, but I will have some up tomorrow, but I found something else to use that is cheap and seems to work as well as soda would ... kitty litter! Costs about $0.37 a lb, and although it's less consistent, it goes through the fire extinguisher blaster quite well and does a good job on loose paint and rust. zzz I'm using fresh step brand (doubt it matters) because it was $9.99 for 28 lbs at the local grocery outlet. Pics to follow.
  22. No, I haven't, but I was hoping to find something local, the dealer here is top notch and I'm trying to degrease the engine, so probably gonna go the safe route and buy them there thx though. I do have one Q though, my manual hasn't been very useful, and I want to know a good rule of thumb for tightening the valve covers (EA 81 non turbo). Book says 3-4ft lbs, but I'm sure it varies depending on the gasket used, etc. I was just putting it on by hand and making sure it's only tightened with an end wrench until firm (using a fel-pro cork gasket) and I was thinking maybe this would be ok and to watch for leaks and just tighten enough to stop leaks?
  23. Kewl, that's what I thought it would end up being, just thought I'd check first thanks!
  24. I need them, they didn't come with my Fel-Pro gasket set, any ideas how I can get something that will work from a hardware store or similar? I don't mind buying something from the auto parts shop, but it looks like most will sell only a set that comes also with another 2 gaskets. Ideas? Thanks in adv.!
  25. Maybe if you have a digi cam, take some pics for us of which hose(s)? IIRC there is only one vacuum line that goes to the front of the weber, all other vacuum lines are not needed that were attached to the hi-tossy carb. Which weber choke do you have? Electric?
