  1. The new cable I have is way longer than the original. I'm probably just gonna throw a couple washers in it and hope for the best.
  2. I drove the car the other night without pushing the clutch pedal pretty smoothly, that tells me the disk is in properly otherwise it wouldn't grab the flywheel. Unless my way of thinking is backwards that is.
  3. What would be the life expectancy on a throwout bearing if it's constantly touching the pressure plate? I'm gonna put my new clutch cable in it and see if that changes anything, and if not put a washer or 2 between the cable and clutch fork.
  4. The vehicle is a 1989 GL spfi 5mt d/r wagon. I put the clutch disk in the same way it was removed. The disk itself doesn't say "flywheel side" on it, so I made sure to put the fat side of the hub toward the pressure plate. I've done that before where the disk was in backwards and I couldn't push the pedal at all. The stay rod, that's the dog bone looking thing that connects the body to the bell housing? If so yes. There were no extra parts when I was done. The job was done in my garage.
  5. I didn't look at the fork itself, I just cleaned the dust off of it. The clutch kit was from rockauto and it's the first one listed under my application. The clutch I pulled out looked fine honestly and it functioned properly, I just decided to change it out because I already had the new one.
  6. Hey guys. It's 3am here in Washington. I got the engine back in my car and have it running at the moment, but I can't get it in gear. It has a brand new clutch in it. I've had the clutch cable all the way tightened down and it still won't let me put it in gear. Could my cable be stretched or something? I think I have a new cable in my suby stuff, but I don't want to go that route if there's just something I'm doing wrong.
  7. Ok, I just wasn't sure if these are GL/Loyale specific. I just don't want to have to use this spair tranny in the future and not have everything I need.
  8. I can text a pic to someone who can post it if it make this easier.
  9. I don't know what the purpose of a second one would be. You can push the ball down on my new (used) oil pump. The little ring that holds the ball inside the oil pump is literally ripped so the ball went into my filter. If that makes sense.
  10. I have a spare 5 speed D/R that I robbed one off of, I'd just like to find another or a pair if there's some lurking around somewhere. Dealer is a good point, I didn't think of that.
  11. Yeah, I can't post the pic. I can't resize it small enough to add.
  12. It's the ball under the filter. There's a spring under where the ball is supposed to be. I pulled the filter off and the spring was just hanging out. No idea what happened to the ball. I'll see if I can post a pic, most of the time I can't though.
  13. I'm in the process of putting a new clutch kit in the EA82 right now and noticed 1 of the springs that hold the throwout bearing to the clutch fork is gone. Are there replacement options out there or would I have to fashion one up with a paper clip?
  14. Hey guys. I have my EA82 out right now so I can clean it up and re seal it. I'm working on cleaning the oil pump right now and noticed the detent is missing where the filter threads on. Is there a way to fix this or is it junk now? I have another oil pump luckily, but if I can salvage this one that would be cool.
  15. This is off topic, but one of my pcv hoses going to the valve covers has a fat crack in it right at the cover. Any ideas on what I should use to replace it? I couldn't find them on rockauto.
  16. That's a great idea. I currently have the motor out and the driver cam tower off for cleaning and new seals.
  17. Ok, I misread that. I can squeeze them by hand right now. They're still in the plastic bags they came in. I'll get a small container and get on that.
  18. Ok. Any special tool I should use to keep the top side from getting buggered up?
  19. Hey guys I'm about to yank the engine out of my 89 gl. I bought new lifters for it a while ago and I'm gonna put those in while the motor Is out. Am I supposed to soak them in motor oil for a day or so prior to installation? I had to do that with my camaro lifters, I just don't know if these require it also.
  20. I'm not sure if EA81 hubs are the same as EA82, but if they are I can save you the hassle and trade you a full set of stock hubs. Then you can go from there.
  21. BTW the TPS I'm talking about is Autozone pn: TPS4085
  22. I know there's a ton of threads discussing this topic, I just can't seem to figure out the search feature. Anyway, a few years ago my TPS decided to crap out. I couldn't find any EA82 Subies at the junk yard, so I found a TPS at autozone that was for a completely different vehicle but it was the same as our TPS. Only issue was it had a pigtail connected to it instead of a male connector. I cut the wires on it, and the female connector off my wire harness and soldered the wires together. Car fired right up and quit doing what it was before. Since then my mileage has dropped significantly and I think this might be the culprit. Looking at the book, it shows the TPS wiring unhooked when you're supposed to calibrate it. Can I still calibrate this one even though it's hard wired in? Thank you for suffering through this super long post.
  23. My last one was an 86 EA82 with a 6 inch lift. Understandably you're going to go through axles and what not, bit this one has been a pita the whole time I've owned it.
