I'm going to swap the EA82 5spd d/r low gearset in for the 1.59:1 low range to replace the useless 1.19:1 low range. Few more paychecks and I'll get some King springs and kyb shocks. Then a skid plate and I'll be ready for some real exploration. When I go to photobucket and sign in, it takes me to a page that does NOT look like photobucket. It's all orange and dark brown...

Hey from Morristown. It's nice to see a Subie fan from nearby. Hope to see you at one of the meets. Not many of those around here though. And when there are it's mostly Imprezas.

5spd swap, spfi swap, adjust the lifters... you'll be seeing 45mpg highway. I'm in love with that car. Exactly like the one my dad had when I was a kid (except it was brown). We'd load that thing down with firewood till you couldn't even see out the back. Great cars.

That is an absolutely beautiful car. Well worth the price IMHO. You come by dollar bills every day. This is a once in a lifetime car. I like the boot around the d/r shifter... never seen that before.

For 2010 they've gone to the multi-layer metal headgaskets which was a permanent fix from the very beginning so no worries on those. The rear wheel bearing issue shouldn't be there either being that it's a completely redesigned suspension setup. I believe if you use an after market made in Japan race and American made wheel bearings in the older Foresters, the issue would be permanently resolved. That's what I read. The new Foresters have gotten nothing but praise from new owners, I don't think you'll regret buying one. I test drove one and it was perfect in every way. Simple to use controls, roomy cabin, compact and agile. Gotta love the ground clearance.

Welcome to the East Coast!! How are you liking it so far? It'd be nice if we could get a bunch of people together for a get-together right on the beach. -
My only beef with lifted Foresters is they look like Nissan Xterras. But that thing's so much more badass. Great job man.

Shoulda went with something that had an EJ22. But I do bet that VW will be HELLA fun to drive. Have fun with it.

Ok nothing really related to having a problem so I guess this could be considered a waste of a thread but hey, I figured everybody would enjoy hearing me talk about how much I love my car. Man are these cars hard to knock the wheels outta line or what? My right front has seen a pot-hole that bottomed out the suspension, a curb sliding sideways in the snow at... 15ish?, and first snow we had (month ago now?) I tried to partically drive through a pile of snow in a parking lot that was ice. Yeah hit it pretty hard, was suprised I didn't break anything. And that was with my right front end. I went to Porter's tire today to have the wheels balanced and aligned because I don't want to unevenly wear my tires. THE DAMN THING'S STILL IN LINE!!! Jeez these things are tough. Best Subaru I've ever owned by far.

It's common for the fuel gauge not to work accurately. Mine usually hits E at 10 gals even though it has 5.9 gals left in the tank. Why not just keep it full? Is it really so much of an inconvenience to look at the trip meter? Timing belt breaking shouldn't have done anything, it's a non-interference motor. If they told you the valves were bent I would be extremely suspicious... The cruise not working could be the clutch switch. The clutch pedal has a spring attached to it that pulls up so that it presses a button that closes the circuit for the cruise. If that spring breaks then it will not press that button.
