  1. I think it's more like driving in 4th. I have an EA81 5spd in my EA82 and at 60mph I'm at 3,000rpm. At 70mph it's something like 3,750. I'm still getting 36mpg mixed driving though so I'm alright with that. I know of a place you can find 4EATs if that's the route you decide to go.
  2. On the EA82s it's not necessary and is rather annoying because rocks tend to get stuck between it and the rotor. I would assume the same for EA81s but I can't be for sure.
  3. It's a known fact that internally, the FRAM filters SUCK. There's some filter or something made out of cardboard that falls apart/callapses, other stuff inside just isn't made worth a crap. But then again, some people have been using them for years without incident. You keep an eye on the oil level I assume? I'm gonna go ahead and blame it on the filter because my dad's Camry had engine knock on start-up until he switched from FRAM to Purolator.
  4. Resist that ***************. Connie... I had no idea you ever had it that bad. I really feel for you... that's terrible. You can bet that guy will probably die a horrible death. As for the justice system... it's just ridiculous. It's a joke, plain and simple. We need to look at Great Britan for inspiration. They're giving their traffic cops ballet lessons so they direct traffic more gracefully. Meanwhile, America is training their cops how to shoot people. Hmmm... I wonder why we're becoming such a violent country?
  5. I read the OP but forgot his wife would be driving it. Definitely right about the Turbo, stay away if it is.
  6. Ben's right. Look for a Legacy if you can find one. A Loyale is just a stripped down version of a GL. Only 2 speakers in front, no adjustable lumbar support, some other little stuff that makes them less desireable than the GLs. The 3ATs can be okay, if you like the sound of 3,000rpms at 55mph. They're perfectly reliable if you mantain them properly and if you're not too rough on it. You could always swap a D/R 5spd in there (if you have the time to do so). Just drive it and listen for CVs clicking, any abnormal engine noises (other than lifters ticking which they often do), brake feel, any bearing noises, stuff like that. Don't go over $800. It's just a Loyale.
  7. That Thing is :slobber: B E A U T I F U L. :slobber: :headbang:
  8. Do you have to swap out the subframe too for the swaybar because it also has mounts?
  9. '89 EA82 5spd 2wd sedan 215,000 miles. Front DS ball joint Front PS strut PCV valve sticks open The usual lifter tick Needs shifter linkage Needs muffler Probably needs TPS adjusted, maybe some other little things. Has some hesitation, but I'm going to blame it on the PCV valve until I swap it out and nothing changes.
  10. Hey man, it's what we're here for. Nice paint job on your Loyale btw.
  11. At least TRY to fix the frame rails so you can at least learn from him. What do you have to lose? Just find somebody with a winch on their truck, throw the cable over a branch of a large tree, attach to front of Rocky, and get ta winchin! That's how you get him up off the ground. Then you can practice fixin frame-rails on him so you don't have to worry about finding a mint EA82 wagon because you could make it mint yourself! Well, at least in that respect. If he can't give you reliable transportation, he could at least give his life for the sake of other cancerous soobs.
  12. 289 miles? I think you should do a complete tune up, sounds like she's drinking a little gas. How big is the tank? My EA82 gas light doesn't come on until I hit about 400-415.
  13. That's a really sweet looking hatch. Those are some insane looking, ummm... offroad vehicles you ride around with. That's pretty impressive that you actually halfway hang with them, lol.
  14. 3:34!!! Says Impreza but it's showing the RX and XT. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQDIgDxDxIs&feature=related
  15. It's either where the cam tower meets the head or it's the cam seal itself. It's not that the car's 20 years old, it's the fact it's an EA82. They leak a little more than other soobs.
  16. Doesn't the synthetic burn off faster than regular oil? A quart every 500 miles sounds like it could get kinda expensive, especially with synthetic. TOD on cold starts? Oh well. These things are just big ticking time bombs.
  17. I say try switching that washer around and see what happens. Seems to me like it's supposed to go on with the coned side facing in... but it's been a while since I've done an axle. Try comparing it to the other side.
  18. VERY sweet ride!! The roof basket and brush guard go very well together. I like the color too. I do think you need to tint the windows though.
  19. HAHAHAHA!!!! Man, did you hear the crunch? Damn.
  20. Been trying to load them from the camera but I can't get anything to happen. I'll figure it out sooner or later.
  21. Completely forgot to show pics. http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q200/SMASHmySOOByDONTya/DSC_0077.jpg
  22. With a brand new radiator, hoses, and a brand new OEM thermostat my EA82 runs SLIGHTLY warmer than that on even the hottest of days. This time of year it's about where yours is. I would say it's probably the gauge. My EA82T runs right around the same temp as well even with a single core radiator and I didn't even bother replacing the thermostat.
  23. Well nothing's WRONG with it, he just hit it a little hard. I'm currently looking for a dirt road and a way to mount my camera in my car.
  24. That is cheap. But it's still WAY cheaper to do it yourself. You wanna set up a date for a wrenching party? I need a muffler, exhaust manifold is leaking, and I need a PCV valve for my sedan. You need timing belts and water pump. I'll provide the tools if necessary:grin: .
  25. 2:30 into the vid... he must have not expected that, lol. Nice running soob though.
