  1. Well, if it's still there tomorrow I'm definitely gonna pick it up. The only thing I dread is the attention that the "Full Time 4WD Turbo" sticker on the side is gonna get.
  2. 1989 Subaru GL wagon with 167,000 miles, FT4WD with 4EAT transmission. TURBO. The Bad: He said it got warm once, but not in the red. Had blown the upper rad hose. Dented front driver side fender. Passenger side raked a stop sign and the rear view on that side is gone. Sounds like a rear wheel bearing is moaning. Shifts kinda rough fron 1st to 2nd. Is also leaking transmission fluid, but not terribly. And it's a Turbo. The Good: New front axle boots, new timing belts, new starter, new tires, new brakes, new rad hoses all within the past 10,000 miles. 4 wheel discs. Runs quite well. No visible rust, just a little rough. Doesn't have quite as much get up as my Fwd 5spd sedan, but it did run quite smoothly. Dead steady idle, and on the 10 mile round trip in 95 Deg weather didn't get above 2/3rds of the way up on the temp gauge. Oil pressure looked good too. Interior is in good shape with a CD player. $500 firm. I'm going to give it a little time and see if he won't go down though. $400 sound good to you guys?
  3. You should fix her. she sounds like she was good to you, so you should be good to her. I got a weber I'm thinking about selling. Could be her new lease on life.
  4. I don't think that's supposed to hook up to anything because on both my carbed EA82s they were just hanging there. Maybe there for some kinda option?
  5. just don't forget the cam tower o-rings (about the size of a dime) like I did. I had to pull my cam-towers off after i had already gotten the motor in and everything back in place because I had forgotten them. And if you can, use anerobic sealant for the cam tower to head seal. And.... Fel-Pro headgaskets are just as good as OEM. Try to find some pvc fittings that are the same size as your front and rear main seals. it'll make installation alot easier and you'll be less likely to screw them up. Resurface heads, resurface flywheel, timing belts. That's all I can think about right now.
  6. I MIGHT have held him off in 1st gear... I've never driven one so I don't really know what it's like. I can beat my dad's 93 toyota camry 2.2 pretty easily though, but it's an auto. I can manage to bark 2nd if I'm in a hurry. does that qualify me as fast?
  7. sitting at a red light with a CRX sitting next to me with a fart muffler... revving away. I give it a quick redline... I must have embarassed him because he stopped revving. EA82+half a muffler=the equation needed to eliminate the oh so annoying sound of fart cans. Them ricers ain't got nuttin' on Soobies.
  8. This is just rediculous. I'm surprised it could even move, let alone move fairly quickly.
  9. hahaha. and I thought I was the only one who used subaru manuals as pillows
  10. It's a good thing you got the little Impreza. You'll be WAY more satisfied with that car than you are with Rocky. Maybe you should just drop an EJ series motor in Rocky? Now that would be freakin awesome.
  11. We were coming back from the movies today and I counted 1 Brat, 3 EA82 wagons (one DL, one gl, and 1 loyale), 2 EA82 GL sedans, an '06 WRX, an '06 or so Outback, and a Forester, and a brand new Legacy sedan. and I was driving my '89 gl sedan. that's the most Subarus I have EVER seen in this town. all sitting within a quarter mile of eachother in traffic. If only I had a camera.
  12. Wow. That looks much stronger than factory. Bucky on ROIDS.
  13. i believe that Brat's on craigslist. left a couple e-mails, no responses. says it's 99% rust free. If only I had a place to stash it...
  14. Yeah, that's plenty fixable given some skill and a welder. It's not the end for Bucky just yet, he's still got another half a million miles to go . There's hope for young Bucky yet.
  15. yeah I've always heard the EA81 clutch cables are a beast to put in.
  16. bad DOJs?? that's about the only thing I can think of.
  17. When you put the cam towers back on, go ahead and spend a little extra $$$ and buy anearobic sealant. It dissolves into the oil so there's no danger of any small chunks getting caught in any oil passages.
  18. Hayelll YAYUH! Let's see some more pics, shall we?
  19. Okay, it's time to celebrate. Got the timing adjusted, burned the last bit of coolant out of the exhaust... looked for any leaks after bleeding the coolant system, drove it a while, washed it, and it looks AND drives like NEW!!!!! THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT'S OFF TOO!!! It runs cool and quiet. THE SOOB LIVES AGAIN!!! Thank you all for all the support and your patience. I know I can be a pain sometimes, thanks for bearing with me.
  20. yeah, the injector wires got all messed up so i just peeled some rubber off them and wrapped the wires around the prods, crammed the rubber thing on top and all that's being held down by the aluminum cover. so it started!! I don't know how long it's been since the engine ran, probably a couple years... but it sounds like a freakin diesel. My oil pressure was lower than expected... my other 200,000 mile pump was making 80 psi on cold startup, whereas this 100,000 mile pump is barely making 50 psi on cold startup. It's the same sending unit. i'm not really worried about that... just all the valve-train noise. I'm guessing the hydraulic lifters just need pumped up. This may be a bit drastic... but i'm gonna get everything together and drive it about 20 miles or so. If the noise doesn't stop it's for sale. anybody interested in an EA82 wagon? it's posted in the for sale forum.
  21. I just wrapped the wires around the "prods" and just tested to see if I'm getting fuel... plugged the green connectors in and turned the key on... sounded like something was spraying but no sign of gas... no smell, can't see any. I just thought I'd ask if it's still not getting fuel before I put it back together to find out it still won't start. just air in the lines?
  22. How do I reattach the 2 wires that go to the top of the injector? I'm trying to solder but it's not holding worth a crap. is there some kind of attachement I can buy that goes to the end of the 2 wires? or will I just need to find another injector?
