Rust! Break it to me gently.
Subaru_dude replied to yorab's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i had an '87 with rust in the same spot worse than that, got in a wreck and that spot didn't show any warpage or anything of the sort. -

Subaru_dude replied to bgd73's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
what does the underbody look like? it seems like it'd be pretty eaten up. i'd say... $800 -
Speed Kills, drive N/A cars
Subaru_dude replied to Skooby's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Hey!! welcome aboard the starship subaru, lol. Lots of resources here... If it weren't for this site I wouldn't even own a Subaru. and yes, N/A cars are the way to go. especially the case with ea82s. -

I added a clutch fan and look what it does!
Subaru_dude replied to bgd73's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
my 89 gl sedan spfi 5 spd a/c power everything, nor my '87 dl no a/c, power nothing have a clutch fan. why is this? and neither one of them overheat -
does it still have power when you're driving it or will it barely move under it's own power? if it will barely move... it's probably the fuel pump or filter. but before you go jumping to that, i would recommend plugs (NGK), wires (NGK), disty cap, rotor, air filter, fuel filter. check the choke too... that's the most common idle related problem causer.

you should do that to an ea81 with the cyclops headlight. you'd look like a UFO coming down the road, haha. and yes, that looks very good. I think I will do that with my DL actually. it looks THAT good.

no problem. glad you're okay and the car's fine. with the way you drive maybe you should have your e-brake on the rear instead Edit: just realized that if the car's in 4wd (which it should be if you're driving on snow or ice) it would lock up all 4s anyway if you pulled the e-brake. Now I'M the idiot, haha.

Junkyard/Dealership Fun Before Work PICS!
Subaru_dude replied to Durania's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I did indeed. it's not often Subaru adventures occur in this part of the country. and yes, that is a nice looking console. Does the rest of the Brat look that good? I'd love to have a Brat but I realized the first time I sat in one I was too tall. maybe I can find a T-top.. -
don't listen to these other guys, you're a freakin idiot. LOCKED ALL 4 WHEELS UP WHILE DRIVING AROUND AN ICE-COVERED CORNER? what were you doing, wiping your A$$ and lighting a cigarette at the same time?? okay, driving around an ice-covered corner is stupid enough, BUT HITTING THE BRAKES WHILE DOING SO?????? I don't know what you're on dude. OH WAIT, ICE!!!! what do you think this is... soobs on ice??? THIS IS THE REAL WORLD. that means DON'T DRIVE ON ICE. driving on ice is STUPID. I hope you didn't take any of that seriously...... hahaha. it was all just a joke!!!!! lol

they probably just knocked a vacuum hose loose or something. take it back and make them fix it, that's bull crap.

yet another new soob
Subaru_dude replied to Subaru_dude's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
tried fuel pump... and put some sea-foam in the gas. nothing's getting better... is it the carb? runs the same hot or cold. can't climb hills... give it more than half throttle and it instantly looses power... still smooth though. hmmmm???? what gives? -
Any one have any pictures of lowered EA82's?
Subaru_dude replied to flyjum's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i just put some of those spring braces for old/sagging springs on the front, but obviously i used them to clamp instead of spread. they don't rub if you put them towards the back of the spring. I'm trying to find some XT front struts though, i like that idea better. -
Why isn't an EA82 a raging "hot rod"?
Subaru_dude replied to bgd73's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
don't some older porsche's have a seperate intake/carb for each side of the engine? could a similar set-up for a soob be custom made and the 90 degree angles in the intake be gotten rid of?? -

Subaru_dude replied to flyjum's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
it's only riding maybe 1 1/2 inches lower in the front... you can't tell from this angle but even lowered in the front, with a full tank of gas it still looks like it's squatting a little. -

yet another new soob
Subaru_dude replied to Subaru_dude's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
okay... still doing the same thing after I drove it a while. seemed okay for a little while, then started again. has power in about the first 1/3 of the pedal... go down any further, and it decelerates. you can hear the engine TRYING... but nothing's happening. have to let off the gas completely and feather it a bit and be really easy on it. does this sound like a fuel pump going out? changed the filter already. Edit: remembered the same thing happening to my first gl... was the fuel pump. will try that next. -
yep, resinator

Subaru_dude replied to Subaru_dude's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs, wires, disty cap, rotor, changed oil, added coolant, filled up and drove about 40 miles around town and used nearly a quarter of a tank and it actually slows down when I apply full throttle. but otherwise it seems okay as long as I don't apply too much gas?? could the gas be bad? that's what I'm thinking. anywayzz, here's a pic of "Sherman the tank".
