  1. nawww... I like how light it feels and the gearing is really nice for the highway too. I'm gonna lower it in the front and basically do the same stuff bdg did to his. I'm gonna make it as effiecient as possible, try to get it up around the 40mpg range. well, I'm already getting 35 and I haven't even done the basic tune-up yet. I'll find a wagon later and make it a project. I'd like to attend the WCSS in a 4x4 wagon.
  2. getting about $2000 for the car but it's gonna go to the junkyard. If I decided to keep the car, I would only get about $800 for it. Here's what I wanna do, let the junkyard take it and then just buy it from them before it gets crushed. My question is... how much do you think a junkyard would charge for a car of it's condition? I would still think only a couple hundred, right? I wanna save her, or at least all those fresh parts. Thanks for the help everybody.
  3. I just bought a new Subaru and I love it. ea82 fi sedan 5spd. great gas mileage... hate the squatted look in the back though. probably need to do timing belts... the guy who owned it put 40,000 miles on it and has never had them done. it also leaks gear oil and smokes it off when you turn the car off. oh well, it's awesome anyway, lol.
  4. nope. I'm growing very fond of the quieter ride, lighter feel, and spritier acceleration. hoping to get awesome gas mileage. but a check engine light is on... and it seemed to drink some gas on the 40 mile trip back home. probably an oxygen sensor or something.
  5. 1989 gl sedan, pw, pd, ps, 5 spd. noticed the gearing immediately. will cruise quite nicely at 80+. needs muffler... but it sounds cool the way it is. good speakers in the back. nice cd player. few dings, no scratches. 200,000 miles, $700. can i put 4wd shocks in the rear? I don't like the squatting look it has. will post pics tomorrow.
  6. hopefully by then i'll have a massively lifted wagon and i'll meet you guys there.
  7. i just got a weber carb from oregon that i was gonna put on the blue wag... so if I fix it i'm gonna lift it, throw on some pugs... fog lights, tube bumpers, winch, that 4.11 rx tranny deal, and I should be good to go. I won't be driving it much though, cuz guess what happened while I was driving my mom to the mall today!!! (she broke her right foot) a completely incoherant moron pulled out in front of me again!!! this time coming from the right to join the opposite lanes of traffic. a mid 90's white Lincoln Towncar. It's raining, I had my headlights on and my windshield wipers on. doing about 45... pulled in front of me about 45 ft. ahead. Hit the brakes and started to slide, turned the wheel to the right and got off the brake and missed the car by about a foot. Still traveling at about 20 mph. WTF. Why doesn't this crap work on the cops cuz apparently to everybody else I'm invisible. the only thing I could do was laugh. I couldn't believe it... scared the hell outta my mom, she actually cried later. Can somebody tell me wut the hell is going on?? is this bad karma? this is insane, that's what it is.
  8. you could always swap a d/r into it yourself. this one will be carbed since it's an 86/87 unless it's been converted, which I doubt. Look for rust of course... fender wells, frame rails, anywhere under the car. $1000 seems a bit steep... all depends on the condition of the car. If it's in practically perfect shape then in my opinion, it's still only worth about $800. Make sure to keep an eye on the oil pressure and listen to the engine of course and make sure it sounds healthy... no rod knocks. TOD is normal so... yeah. If the axles click then they'll need replaced soon. I've had bad luck with Subarus leaking diff fluid right onto the exhaust... so if you drive it a little while and it smokes alot and STINKS... it's diff fluid. I'm not too familiar with transmissions so I can't tell you exactly where they leak from. Rust is the main thing. If there's holes in the frame rails, it's definitely not worth $1000. Good luck. -Jordan
  9. if everything goes as planned, it will be as if we switched cars. you lost a 2wd 5spd sedan and gained a 4wd d/r 5spd wagon, I lost a 4wd d/r 5spd wagon and should, very soon, own a 2wd 5spd sedan. lol
  10. okay... over the past year, I have put $1,420 into the car... give or take $100 or so. and on www.kbb.com my car is worth $1,070 in good condition. how much should I be expecting to get out of this?? and about the a/c compressor... i'll think on it.
  11. he said he only puts an average of 10,000 a year on it, and he's had it 4 years and doesn't know how when the timing belts were changed last. I'll be thinking about that a/c compressor... how much??
  12. 1989 Subaru GL 4 dr sedan, 2wd 5 spd... maroon. ABSOLUTELY no rust ANYWHERE on the car... very clean interior, only some tears on the top of the back seats. Very clean interior... electric windows:-\ rear ones barely work. electric door locks though, I like those. 199,000 miles, runs great. muffler has a hole in it, makes it sound all cool and stuff, lol. new michelin street tires, some of the clear coat on the roof is coming off... just a 1 foot wide strip from front to back but that's it. no exterior dents... or even scratches for that matter. a/c... but it doesn't work, needs a compressor. new brakes all the way around, drums in the rear. leaking diff fluid I think, but it's not a terrible leak. the front right axle boot is torn but not clicking. CD player that actually fits in the dash.. nice speakers too. horn works... all the lights work. Very clean trunk. like I said, absolutely NO RUST WHATSOEVER, ANYWHERE on this car. practically new tires... for $700. think it's a good buy? clutch grabbed well too. ran perfect.
  13. yeah, they're actually kinda hard to find. I think they're called rally wheels.
  14. http://s136.photobucket.com/albums/q200/SMASHmySOOByDONTya/?sc=1&addtype=local my poor baby...
  15. actually... I think it is fixable. but I found a good deal on an 89 gl 4wd 5sp wagon... and it runs great. we're gonna get rid of our old truck and just have 2 soobs. and the lady who I hit called me today after I left her a message... she's not in very good shape. she was badly bruised across the waste by the seatbelt, which didn't even lock up. hit her head on the steering wheel so hard her ears were bleeding... severe whiplash also. she has had 2 cat-scans so far to make sure there's no fluiding building up around her brain. I think I'm going to drive a little slower from now on. she's pretty ticked off at Ford being that the air-bags didn't deploy, and her seatbelt didn't lock up. Her car didn't even freakin crumple. for god's sakes it was even driveable, lol. she was VERY surprised to learn I was ok... that's when she said, "You mean you're 20 year old car faired better in a wreck than my brand new Taurus? What kind of car is it again?" I have a feeling she's gonna buy a soob... lol.
  16. it still rolls... i'm still not completely clear on the complete extent of the damage. it wasn't driveable though... and it was leaking oil when I got out. I know the front of the engine, aka all the pumps and stuff... is pretty smashed up. I noticed the gear shift was sitting up a couple inches higher than usual... drive system is probably wacked. it's pretty smashed in. but from the looks of it... it only took damage from the wheels up. the hood is actually barely warped... the front bumper matched up with hers perfectly. i'll try to get some pics up.
  17. guys... I am feeling it. but, I can't imagine the pain my friend is in who smashed his head into the windshield and demolished my radio, and passenger side a/c vent with his knees. on top of that he went to work, his first day on the job!!!!! wow... what a trooper.
  18. i know it's a bit much, but i think i can maybe get it down to $1800... but it seems worth it being that everything that would ever need to be replaced is practically brand new. it looks good too, you think that's a good deal?? http://raleigh.craigslist.org/car/217086564.html
  19. very true. looking at bgds car... do you think it would be possible to cut the front end off and weld up a new front end? cuz my uncle owns a shop and says he's done it before and if I can find another soob for cheap, put a new front end on it. I'd hate to see it go to the jy... and it is very hard to find non-rotten soobs around here.
