  1. I replaced my heads this weekend. When I got them on and went to put the timing belts back on I noticed 2 threads coming out of the bottom hole for the driver side timing belt tensioner. The bolt went in smooth, and I got it as tight as the other 3 tensioner bolts. Today on my way home from work I heard a weird noise so I pulled off the road and opened the hood and saw the driver side belt flopping around. I limped it home (I was only a couple miles away), and took out the fans and radiator that way I could get to the belt. It definatly jumped time, so I went and re-did the timing but my lower bolt on the tensioner is now stripped. Am I screwed, or do you guys think a helicoil will be ok to put in there?
  2. Yeah, everything looked good, I think it might be something in the tc itself. Friday I'm gonna go get the tc from the donor car and see if that will work. If not, ill return that tranny and pull another one. The right way this time though.
  3. No, wouldn't even go on without the extention. I wonder if I messed up the tc when I removed the tranny. Might have to go get the tc off the car I got the tranny from.
  4. Ok yeah ill try to install it without the shaft and see if it'll go on then go from there. Thanks for the idea.
  5. Yeah I tried again for a couple hours yesterday, still no dice. I don't know what the deal is.
  6. I got the input shaft out of the tc, but I cant get it to seat in the tranny. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I've been reading this thread http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/79130-how-to-seat-your-torque-converter-by-mnwolftrack/page-2?hl=%20torque%20%20converter over and over again for the last 2 hours and can't get the tc past the first stop. What's goin on here?
  7. I could, but my dad had this one installed along with a new flexplate a year or so ago. Mabey I should just do that.
  8. How am I supposed to get that shaft out of the torque converter? I'm about ready to have my dad go get a new one.
  9. When pulling the tranny, are you supposed to remove the torque converter at the same time? I've never pulled an auto before. I got the tranny out last night, but the input shaft is still sticking out of the tc. The tranny I pulled from the junk yard came out easy.
  10. I have to r&r the tranny in my dads 91 Legacy wagon. Its an automatic. Yesterday I pulled an auto tranny from a 90 legacy sedan and when I got it home I noticed the diff dipstick on the 90 tranny was taller than the 91 tranny. So my question is, what are the differences between these two trannys, and is it a direct swap? Both trannys have a rear gear ratio of 4.111. Thanks guys.
  11. Bumper looks good, that color is awesome too.
  12. I tried an easy out on the bolt I broke in my thermostat housing, and I broke it. So I bought an intake manifold from the jy and went to remove my intake manifold and broke 2 more bolts off into the heads.
  13. There is a small leak, mabey a cup a day. Hopefully the 2 core radiator I buy this weekend comes with a new cap. Never thought about replacing that. The fan definitely works, shortly after I shut it off the car got hot again. I just don't want to have to run it constantly.
  14. Yeah, I checked the flow direction before I bolted the fan in and tucked the wires away. With the fan running I can put my hand behind it and feel the air blowing toward the engine. I priced a 2 core radiator through rock auto the other day, I just have to wait another week to buy it.
  15. I think im gonna go ahead and put another electric fan in. On the way to work this morning the car started to get pretty warm, so I turned on the fan. The temp didnt drop below 3/4 hot. That was with the heater blasting too.
  16. Cool thank you for the link. I havnt really driven the car since I fixed the fan, but if it still ges hot ill probably put another electric fan in.
  17. I got my fan wired up yesterday, works good. I need to get a different fuse for it today though. I wasn't thinking when I bought everything and got a 30 amp fuse and 30 amp switch, so ill get a 20 amp fuse after school.
  18. What size tires did you go with? My buddy put 5:13 gears in his yota with dana 44s and 35s. Definatly nice to have the low gears with bigger tires and a 4 banger. Did you get your driveline balanced? Those welds look nice. The high steer looks good too. Mabey put a hoop over your shock mounts too to add a little strength. Keep up the good work!
  19. I just replaced the water pump and t stat friday, and a few weeks ago I replaced the radiator with one from the jy.
