So I've found 2 different distributors on rock auto. I know that they are odd brands, but I need one. Which one of them should I get? And will one of these solve the issue? Here's the link. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/subaru,1983,brat,1.8l+h4,1267691,ignition,distributor,7108

Thank you both for the help. I think I'm gonna go with a newer disty. I've tried to find one before and came up with nothing. I know that it needs to be from an '83 or newer N/A EA81.

My 1980 Brat ea71 is having an ignition issue. There is a box located right next to the coil that says "transistor IGM." It malfunctions whenever I hit a bump and the car studders and I lose tachometer function for a split second. It stopped working completely once. I got out and traced the wires from the disty back to this box. I banged on it and it started working. I punched in the numbers that were on it and nothing even came up. What is it and where can I get a new one?
Thanks!!!

I'll get a test meter and check it out. I've also figured out how to do the choke manually. I have to open the hood and close it but it works a lot better now. It'll choke it to 2500 rpm.

It had the stock Hitachi carb on it that was an auto choke. No, I don't have a choke pull nob on the dash.

Yes they are. Longer snout on the automatic.
You need one ? I have a reman Manual that I won’t need. Send me a message thru the board if interested.
Probably have more than one but the one that’s out and handy has an ND tag on it with the numbers 028000 297 and the tag is green and silver.
Oh yes, I do need one. What's the price, and how far are you from AZ?

Aren't those manual choke ? There’s not a pull knob on your dash somewhere ?
It's a weber.

I pumped it once and nothing happened. I took the filter off and closed it by hand and it fired in one crank. I'm not sure that it is even wired right. Would you know what wire it should be if I sent you a picture of the wiring around it? I know there is no electrical attached to the gas pedal itself. That means that the choke is engaged through the carb itself. Does that mean that all that the choke needs is power?

I need to know if the starter for the manual transmission, is different than the automatic one. It is an ea71.

I have an '80 ea71, with weber 32/36 on it. Recently when it does a warm start 10 minutes after I shut it off I have to floor it to get it to fire up. Is it the choke or does the carb need rebuilt?
