thanks for planning this while I was out of town Next time maybe for me -
so galen, when are you actually gonna have a sube you can drive. and I know you'll say that the brat runs good, but I haven't seen you rollin to school in it yet. ???
-
nice piece galen, I especially like the audio system in that thing- I can see you bumpin in it with mix tape of Alvin and chipmunks blarin out the windows - "...a hulaaaaahoooop..." and out the windows meaning the window in tha back because there isn't one! I agree with matt though, if sick like pnuemonia means pnuemonia is rust, then yes, your brat is sick like pu-no-monia. But on a less bashing note, welcome to the club!

looks great - how much were those mudders? -
So, I got this weber and the air cleaner I got from redline won't fit on it. When I looked at some of the other webers that other board members had, I noticed that mine looked slightly different. The guy told me it was a DGAV with an electric choke. He said it was remanufactued and it had the warranty and everything that said it was remanufactued, but it didn't say what kind of weber it was. Anyway, below are some pics that show the bottom of the air cleaner, and the top of the carb. does anyone know what kind of carb I got here? thanks carb carb 2 carb 3 carb 4 air cleaner

puttin miles on it? Doesn't matter - its young, it only has 63,000! Mine runs damn fine and it has 125,000. And I know other guys have more on their's. Don't worry about puttin miles on it. Besides, you'll feel pretty cool when everyone gives you thumbs up as you drive to work. That car has plenty of life left in her, and by looking at the condition of the exterior and interior, I can imagine the owner took good care of teh engine too.

takin a guess that you saw the cherry 78 brat on ebay in KC. Blue book for the gen 1's is about $800 bucks I believe. However, they are worth way more than that. Because they are getting rare and they're like the fricken sweetest car ever, they are worth way more than blue book, and people selling them know this. That 78 brat is worth what the guy is asking for it. A non rusty subaru like that is worth its weight in gold. If I hadn't have bought my 1980 brat this last september for $2500, I would definitely have gotten the 78 in KC. I would have outbid you too. Not only that, but a brat like that with so few miles on the Odom. is alone almost worth that price. I'm the first to reply to this post, but I'm positive that anyone else on this board would take that brat in a heart beat if only they had the money. That 78 is priced right. Hope you get it, I'd love to see at the West Coast Meet this summer - its in oregon so you would be obligated to come and show that thing off. hope this helps, I'm sure others will post and say the same

MPG of various models ????
wagonpowaa replied to mtsfabman's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
anywhere from 21-30 mpg depending on what kind of driving I'm doing. 320 miles drafting my friend in his Suburban=35mpg, but usually 23-24 -
okay so this guy is trying to sell this 1982 Brat GL; first let me list the goods: Brush guard, third eye, jumpseat belts/frame, (no actual seats though), only 73,000 miles on it The bad: Major rusto probs in the bed (i.e. entire end of bed is a large rusty hole. Tailgate can't be opened cause it's not attatched well (rust), interior is torn up a little, the door panels are cut up, no jump seats, not a single tire matches another, driver side rear quarter panel wrinkled and rusting, and the back window was busted out. How much should I offer him? He doesn't know how much its worth, but he thinks its worth somewhere between 300 and 500. I haven't been able to test drive it yet, not until monday, but he said it ran fine as far as he knew. I was hoping to get it for less than 300, any thoughts on what it would be worth?

brat devil decal, and other sub stickers
wagonpowaa replied to archemitis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
try contacting this lady - leana_clement@yahoo.com bought a grill and third eye from her off ebay, and then she had some of the original Brat Devil decals that she was auctioning, but then took them off. She might even sell them to you. Also, if you do make any of the Brat Devils, I want one! -
CHECK this out!!!!

Alright, so I got this arm rest for my brat yesterday, and I can't figure out where it should go. The guy I got it from took it out of his 1980 brat, but it was so long ago, he couldn't remember where the thing was screwed into. I thought there would be some screws near the back of the e-brake housing, but the way the metal arms come down from the the arm rest, I don't see anything that they would be able to screw into. Does anyone even know if the gen 1's came with an arm rest option? Any ideas on what to do?

Dude, everyone needs to take this quiz!
wagonpowaa replied to lastchance's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
yeah, where are the brats? I mean, I don't mind bein an ol' 80's wagon, but seriously, Brat should be somewhere. -
I absoluetly love it

it was about 30 to 32 degrees when it happened, and there was some slush on the roadways, and come to think of it, I did smell something funny coming from the engine, but I assumed that it was the semi in front of me, adn it wasn't constant, only happened twice for no more than 10 seconds or less each time.

What, where and how do I do whatever those are? can someone explain?

so, I was driving through the mountains today, and as I started up a small incline on the highway at 60mph, my car wouldn't accelerate. Not only that, it was decellerating. I thought it was just because of the incline (I mean the brat only has 65 hp so...) but my speed continued to drop. I got down to 35mph and I downshifted into 3rd, but when I stepped on the gas, nothing happened. The rpms were at 3000 and continued to go down, and my speed was still going down. Even when I floored it, this continued. I was then down to 20mph and downshifted into 2nd. same thing. I pulled over and it died before I could make a full stop. then, I popped the hood, looked around, opened the air filter box, put everything back, got in the car, started it back up and it was fine, and didn't give me anymore trouble for the rest of the trip, even on the much steeper inclines. I had filled the tank up the week before with cheap Arco regular (prices are too high!) and then today, just before getting into the mountains, I filled the tank up with chevron plus. I still had about a 5th of a tank of arco regular left when I filled her up today. Could this have been the problem? I just don't want it to happen again. Scared me, thought the brat was done for! So, could it have been the gas? or something else?

so if they were all converted, how can you tell if a DGAV is a DGEV?
-
Searched the archives, but everything was about which weber was the best. Was wondering what the difference between the DGEV and the DGAV? Someone said it had to do with a water choke or something? something it means in Italian? On the Redline site, it has the DGEV and DGAV in the same diagram window. so whats the deal?
