I guess it's not to far off then. One thing I do notice is the gas pedal is fairly stiff, so it seems to take off pretty quick as you need to apply what seems like alot of force at the start(compared to Volvo atleast). Maybe I'll try lubing the cable to allow easier modulation. My quest will continue I guess.

We'll I'm getting 17mpg:eek: I checked plugs and they were new autolites, changed them to NGK V powers and new air filter. It's got 90k so I'm thinking might be time for a O2 sensor. Found a Denso for $95 are these any good? wheres the Best place to get a cheap one that works good. Thanks http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUBARU-IMPREZA-LEGACY-OUTBACK-00-02-OXYGEN-SENSOR-O2_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33557QQihZ013QQitemZ230009354348QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V

I don't think so it was pretty loud. I really didn't notice it at first start-up, then test drove about 2 miles stop and heard it. Was reving it from under the hood and it was very audible sound from 1.5rpm to about 3krpm then would go away. No sound at idle though. It's to bad it was a nice looking ride.

We'll I just checked out this 97 legacy GT with 102k. When I first started it everything sounded good. Went for a tset drive and heard a sound from the engine compartment like knocking or something. Open hood, sounds fine idling, but when you give it alittle gas between 1.5k and 3k rpms it sounds like it's knocking or detonating or ? It' definatly loud and disturbing but goes away at about 3k RPMS. Just wondering if this sounds like a common problem (easy fix) or should I run away fast. To me it almost sounds like the timing isn't advancing right or something. Anyways we wanted to buy it until we heard that noise. Any insight would be great! Thanks Jay

We'll I'm considering buying one for my wife. It has 104k, auto, power everything etc.. They(small car lot) want $5999 for it. What would be considered a good price? And what problems have there been with these motors I.E. headgaskets, Bad tranny's, anything that I should be aware off. Thanks for any info. Jay

Instead of a throttle pull, i use a long scraper wedged between seat and gas peddle. I seem to have same problem. Good luck Jay -

I've heard good things about a product called POR15, basically wire brush rust away then add this product and paint it will eliminate the cancer. I'm in spokane to and you can buy it at KC auto-paint supply. Jay -
That guy walked before he talked nice!

Talk is cheap it's free. If you want to take 6k and build something fast then do it instead of talk about it. Personally even after 6k your still going to have a car worth about $1500. My 02

I used a dual a-pillar from a honda in my wagon, don't know if a rx is different. Looks good with alittle trimming.

I've used the steam method and it does work. I had a bmw 2002 with dual 45mm webers on it that made alot of carbon. Spray bottles work good -
Just wondering if anyone knows the diameters of the turbo intake and the 85/86 vane style maf? I would go tear it apart but my son won't let me.
