  1. Hey everyone, I've got a 1993 subaru legacy, stock 2.2 with all the gaskets done except for the head gaskets because I didn't have time for that. The engine has approximately 275k on it and I use it in my daily driver/ drift car. I know this has definitely been asked a bunch but I thought maybe people would have different answers because of the type of driving I'm doing with the car. Me and my brother both use Rotella T6 but I've heard from some subaru mechanic friend that it's not that great and that I should switch to pennzoil synthetic. Have people had good luck with this? Or should I keep the Rotella because it's a thicker weight and with me drifting the car and all it might be saving the engine. Once again, sorry if this has been asked a bunch of there's another forum that already has a good answer ease link that so I don't waste anyone's time. Thanks for any of the help you have!
  2. you might be right. So far I haven't had any poping out of gears but if I go really aggressive on the gear shifts it makes a chirp going into 3rd. luckily for me, these old 5speeds that use cable clutches are really cheap so it shouldn't be too bad if I end up going the replacement route. Its definitely not that bad, the car drives perfectly fine its just more of something that's annoying and makes the car just a little annoying to drive around. realistically I don't have the time to really fix the issues until around January maybe a little earlier so as long as she can hold out that long I'm okay. but it could be that even though I replaced those bearings? the shop who did it told me sand down the slot where the output shaft goes( where the driveshaft would go onto the splines, not the splines themselves but the surrounding rim), I'm thinking maybe it could be that. i used some Scotch-Brite to rough it up but maybe I didn't do that enough.
  3. its a 1993 legacy that was FWD but swapped to RWD for skids and stuff. I would agree with you but I have a custom one-piece driveshaft in the car. And while I wish it was that, the car made the exact same noises before when it had two-piece driveshaft. Im thinking in the worst case I just have a somewhat bad tranny and once I have the money and the time ill buy a new another.
  4. Hello again. A couple of weeks again I had something in my trans give out and it turned out to be a couple of the center diff bearings. So the other day I had all of my center diff bearings done and its back in the car but I'm still hearing a whine when I'm at higher speeds. It's not that bad and if I'm going about 70 and I let off it stops making the noise. I thought it initially was just the center diff bearings but its obviously not. It also sounds like its coming from right below the shifter and i have all the interior pieces around the shifter off the car.
  5. Hey again, recently posted a topic but have since figured that issue out so I'm onto the last main issue I've had with my car. I am just about done with my rwd swap on my 93 Subaru legacy, no fluids in everything, new clutch, flywheel, and every arm I could buy. The one issue I've really had with the car has been driveshaft and gas tank issues. The driveshaft is currently getting rebuilt so that should be solved in the coming days and one of my issues with the gas tank was a bad fuel pump. The other issue I'm having is no gas gauge. I know that the fwd tank only has the one plug because it doesn't have the middle separating hump for the driveshaft and that the awd tanks have a second plug for the syphon and to get the fuel gauge correct. While I do have the plug I was wondering if its as simple as splicing into the wiring for the main plug and that'll work or if I have to add some wiring directly to something else. The car is totally drivable and honestly as long as I go to the gas station like every 2-3 days I should be fine but id like to have the piece of mind of knowing exactly how much gas I have. Hopefully you guys can help me out!!
  6. Welp it turns out the pump was just bad, bought a new one and the car is fixed. Probably should've checked that before I threw the tank in but you know how it is getting excited. Thanks all for the help.
  7. took the fuel pump out of the car and it has a bunch of what looked like possible corrosion, and the pump also had no strainer on it so im hoping that this is what wrong with the car. I never checked the pump just threw the new tank in. ill post an update tomorrow after i throw the pump in.
  8. Muffler or cat? The car doesn't have a muffler ( for now I'm trying to find one) and the cat has been replaced but might still be bad possibly. What's the likelihood that it's the cat over something having to do with fuel? I plan on manually cleaning the injectors and changing out all the seals to rule that out. The car does have 273,000 and while I did a bunch of oil seals I didn't do anything for fuel besides throw in a used sti tank a new filter and some better rubber lines in the engine bay
  9. I thought so too so I added an cleaner, plus I run the car on plus for when I take it to the track. Drove the car today to work and getting there was fine ish but on the way home it died twice. Kinda felt like it might've been missing but I'm not 100% sure.
  10. I thought the same so I swapped out the header and cats for some spares I had laying around. While it did make the car feel a bit better it still doesnt entirely fix the problem. I also just went and filled it up with gas( which it gladly took from the pump this time) and it drove better than it's been driving in the past 2 weeks.
  11. The ECU has the manual identification pin in and grounded, and should I take the IAC off the parts car engine, and clean it up?
  12. I forgot to put, the car was an auto fwd model before. I connected the wires that I needed to to trick the car into thinking its in neutral and to let me take the key out of the ignition.
  13. Hey all, this is my first post here. So I recently did an RWD 5-speed swap on my 93 Subaru legacy. For the first bit after the swap the car was fine but now it seems to be in some sort of limp mode or something like that. If I drive the car smooth with just a little throttle I can possibly get up to 5k in 1st and 2nd sometimes and 4-5k in the rest of the gears, however if I try and get on the car a bit it won't go past 4k at all. It also seems to have an issue where after I've driven the car for a bit it won't accelerate, sometimes if I take the car out of gear and just coast for a little I can get it to accelerate a little bit but not always. I've already replaced a bunch of stuff, tps went in yesterday new knock sensor crank and cam position sensor, new O2 sensor brand new fuel filter, cleaned the maf and the throttle body and it probably has less than 100 miles on the oil and filter. I could really use some help as the car for the most part is undrivable.
