  1. Thank you for the reply. I currently don’t have an issue with the unit. My car is running and I’m happy. I’m just curious. I didn’t mean say that it HAS to have that exact thing... I also found a green mystery box under the driver seat. I’m just curious, that’s it.
  2. There has to be a rotational sensor somewhere in the car to cut off the pump as to not dump fuel in a non-start situation. There has to be.
  3. Does anyone have a photo of the FPCU? I looked by the hood release and thats where the box in the above photos was. I think the box is for the windshield wipers. but who knows!
  4. I’m going to say there is no vent line off of the filler tube. I only could get two of the screws out of the panel inside the bed, but after I did, I could only see metal behind the filler tube. I’m going to take a chance and say that I fixed my evap issue up front and get it smogged Thursday. Anyone know where the vapor separator is? That’s the only other thing I can think of that has hoses going to it that might be leaking?
  5. Hello USMB! I took my brat to a shop to get a smoke test after failing my EVAP test for California smog. They think that I have a small leak behind the filler neck behind the long bed panels. They didn’t have enough time to pull the panels, and they also thought the smoke might be coming from the not perfect seal (of their test equipment) close to the filler neck. is there a vent line from the filler neck? Nothing is leaking from the front of the engine .
  6. I also cannot stress enough about the Factory Service Manual. On eBay as we speak. So much specific information for your exact car and engine. Do you have any friends who are into cars who might be able to help you along with the basics? Working on stuff like this with a time crunch sucks, but with determination and research, you’ll get it! And we’ll help too. Good luck! Keep us posted.
  7. Maybe trying to get a stock look? After seeing the Weber air cleaner, I could see why it would be a better option. I bet it’s for visual only.
  8. It looks awesome. I have not tried it but it looks like the fit would work!
  9. You were right my friend! Found a blown fuse that looked old old old. Got a new 5a fuse in, I now have 12v to my choke. And it is functioning normally. Awesome!
  10. I now have 12V to my choke. The fuse behind the glove box was blown. I have a new carb so maybe something happened back in the day.. The choke is now fully open when the engine is warm. Should drop my CO and help me pass my 2500 smog check! Woo!
  11. THERE. IT. IS. And it was blown. So I put a new 5a fuse in and started the car. No blown fuse, maybe my old carb had an issue. I now have 12v going to the electronic choke and I now have a fully open choke when the car is warm. BAM.
  12. Thank you! I’m going to take a look and see if there is one where you say, I’ve also been turned on to a spot behind the glove box. It’s precisely 150 million degrees outside, but I’ll check when I can!
  13. I heard a rumor it is behind the glovebox with some other mystery stuff. Going to look and see...
  14. DUDE. I did not know about the special tray under the glove box. AMAZING. Checking when I get home. Thank you!
  15. I have that fitting, but the smaller return line broke off. I have both pieces if you were to braise them together. I’d send the two pieces to you for cost of shipping.
  16. Just learned that the fuse is NOT inside the FPCU. So WHERE IS IT?!?!?!!?!?
  17. 1981 Brat ea81 with no voltage to my automatic choke. Hitachi. I found this fuse in the FSM: no one can tell me where it is. No one can tell me what that black box is. So I’m about to run a switch to 12v and hard wire it.
  18. I’m about to. Unless I learn it’s inside the FPCU (Fuel Pump Control Unit). If all fuses in the fuse block are 15A or 25a, where is the 5a rando fuse? I’m giving myself 24 hours to locate it
  19. Looking for the 5a fuse (to my automatic choke, which might be behind the glove box), might also be inside the FPCU (Fuel Pump Control Unit) which seems to be a rotational sensor for the distributor. I assume it senses rotation from the distributor and kicks the fuel pump on. And if there is no rotation it will not flood the engine with fuel causing an unsafe situation. Anyone know if this is the FPCU and if the 5a fuse is inside?
  20. So I found a fuse, and no idea where it is. All the fuses in the block are 15 and 25, this is a 5. Is it inside the Fuel Pump Control Unit? Is this black box the FPCU? I have so many questions. I wish I could rent a subaru mechanic for an hour and fire questions at them.
  21. All of the fuses in the fuse block I believe are 15 amp. Unless I’m missing something!
