i just installed a standalone ecu, so thats why i was saying ecu wouldnt be a problem, i literally would just have to plug the ea81 in and it would work
-
less power but more reliable right? should i do this? we doin this?!!? hahhaha. ive got an ea81 turbo collecting corrosion, and if I dont try to save it now it might be lost to time... so, ECU isnt a problem. this is tempting.
-
lol, well, ive got a nice tig, so i may weld up that crack they love to get, but everything else is new... so hopefully hg's keep it goin for a while. i may be in the market for an adapter plate *sigh* ive got an ej25 with a set of ej20 turbo heads... but that's another recipe for head gaskets.... hmmm Honda J series lol

i need a new headgasket, is fel-pro the go 2? has anyone had good luck with others?
-
yay bad headgasket! woo i love ea82's
-
got a new coil, and was able to set the trigger offset!
-
aww man, my coil died! and so did my distributor rotor, the metal fell off! :O also, danget! i wish i could be driving it in this right now
-
oooh so close now!
-
yeah, but its just inexperience that's causing me some issues here.. i may have figured it out last night. im gonna see what results i come up with.. its somewhat reading, but i found out that i wasn't gettting 12v to the dizzy's power so the voltages in the sensors aren't quite right (supposed to be 5V)
-
So far ive gotten the fuel pump to turn on in test mode, same goes for the coil, boost solenoid, all 4 injectors and anything else i can test... i've got what looks to be the right signals now... but i cant find out how to make the whole thing " do the thing" lol.
-
oh its getting so close i can feel it... lol

cleaned and re wrapped the power in wires heres the new ecu wired up to the existing harness , will get buttoned up once im sure all the parameters are reading correctly and i know i dont need to add any more connections. (yeah i see the connector that's not shrank yet, lol) aaand thats about it for now..
-
allrighty, sorry for the long wait, I've been hard at the wiring! and i think im done! woo this next post is gonna be a long one, ill try to explain whats i did so, the injectors are paired in a way, where #1 & #2 are paired and #3 & #4 are aswell, they are located about a foot past the big grommet hole. lots of connection checking, re taping and tracing done, finally time to wrap it all up! side note: there are only 4 grounds for the ENTIRE HARNESS AND BODY all of them need to be perfect, as each has about 10-15 wires per bolted on connection point. trimmed, cleaned up and re wraped the engine harness. the most important ground is located on the end with the most wires ending up there. (about 15 splitting to another dozen) The upper most wire is using some existing wires on the harness and its nowwired into the intake air temp sensor.

yes! i would love the print file! maybe design one that uses the ash tray too? -
so installing a new ECU, and one of the tasks at hand was to find the 4 injector wires that go from 4 wires, to 2 , and back to 4 (so dumb, lol) had to take the fender off and take the loom apart.. yay. lucklly i found it, also found the resistors for the injectors

Hitachi carb rebuild, what else should I do?
turbodog replied to mkoch's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
what i did with my old webber setup was cut a peice of sheet metal into the oval shape the factory air cleaner has and welded on a couple bolts where the top screws on, gave it a nice stock ish look and i kept the oem filter -

so, my dislexia strikes again, and i got the fire order wrong, though it didnt solve the whole issue, it ran great for a minute with the mass air plugged in... then it died again, and wont run with it plugged in. CEL says code 22 and that says knock control circuit? -
