  1. Some relays use the power feed to the relay's coil for the Common between the switched contacts. Rewire your temporyary wiring that made the relay click. Take a test light and attach one end to the Battery - you have on the relay, Touch other end of test light to each of the unused terminals to see if one will light the test light.
  2. That is how they are. Just looked under both of my BRAT's, and they look identicle to that pic.
  3. Thanks. I knew the EA82's had different setups, wasn't real sure on the EA81's
  4. Just wondering if there's different bracketry for mounting the compressor, besides the difference in what make it is. Got an '85 BRAT with A/C mounted outboard of altenator. Seen a few pics on here of simular set up. Are they all that way? Got an idea churning in the grey matter, and I'm curious about the brackets.
  5. Just a thought here; What about a short section of driveshaft with flanges on both ends, bolted to the diff. Something like. l=l , then the proper length driveshaft.
  6. On the '88 GL Wagon I have, I ran new speaker wire to where the Factory connectors are feeding out to each door speaker. Didn't feel like fishing the new wire thru each of the flex tubes going to the doors. Cut needed connectors from an old harness I had, and solder/heat shrinked them onto the new speaker wires. Front connectors are behind the kickpanels on each side. "T" shaped, Blue & White wires, Thinking they are Pink in color but not 100% right now. Rear connectors are under the frontdoor sillplate trim and the plastic shield found there. White connectors, Blue & White wires on the door side. When I installed the new speakers, I cut the wires from the old ones and soldered those to the speakers
  7. You truly do some amazing work!!!! Need your addy, going to send you 2 of my BRAT's for a rework.
  8. If you're having difficulty reaching the plug hole to feel for compression on #1 cylinder, try this... Put the plug back in #1 and pull the other 3 plugs, then turn the crank. You will definetly feel when #1 comes up on compression.
  9. 4WD EA82 rears are a direct swap onto an EA81. Grab the backing plates too, as you do need them.
  10. '94-'95 FWD 5-speed Imp axles are what you need. Atleast that's what I've read on here... Need to get some myself to install the D/R 5-speed, but I'm going to run the XT6 trans for the time being. EDIT: Seems the above info is wrong. I apparently wrote it down wrong when I was digging thru threads looking for the info myself. Appology offered...
  11. Think I would start with pulling the sparkplugs, see if it will turn over then. Could've had an intake gasket fail, filling cylinder with coolant. If that doesn't let it turn, then I'd go about sliding the engine forward enough to check the pressure plate bolts. There is an outside chance that one of the timing belts snapped, and has wrap itself up enough to lock the crank. Quick & easy check there.

  13. You may find needed parts thru this link, http://www.car-part.com/
  14. Welcome to the Board! And yes, owning a BRAT or 2 is great. I get lot's of compliments, and questions about mine. Get alot of, my_____ used to have one of those..... Owned an '86 when I joined the Board, and bought an '82 later that year. Still have the '82, dismantled, out in the garage.. I've since owned an '84, another '86, and currently DD my '85. Both of the '86's died of cancer, but they were in bad shape when I bought them. Traded the '84 for an '88 XT6. The current owner of that BRAT has completely restored it.
  15. That's an EA81 intake. Rinse the water jacket out with a hose. Clean the T-stat seat area with a light touch of ScotchBrite. Or, just swap Weber adapter over to your intake. An EA82 intake takes a different style adapter, should you decide to ever go with one.
  16. Still plugging away at it. Got the front swaybar in, Y-pipe installed, all fluids topped off, brake lines in, brakes bled. Deciding on what muffler/where before I finalize the exhaust. Still waiting on a couple parts to get rear diff installed and axles finished. Except for needing a few ancillary parts, engine bay is all done. FTAWD XT6 Pistolgrip shifter installed, FWD console pieces installed, Got sound installed along with new speakers. Gotta have tunes...... Found me a better electric fan, it's in but I need to swap plugs for it. It be Subaru, so it's good... Actually bolted up to stock mounts too. Seller couldn't say it was for an EA82, but it fitted. Best of the best.... She runs again!!!!! Hooked up the test connectors, and just let the fuelpump do it's thing. She finally filled the lines with go-juice. So I twisted the key somemore.... SHE RUNS!!!!! Had to play with throttle to keep it running, but 3 minutes in, she run good. Lifters were way noisy for 10-15 minutes, but she's a running good now... Not to shabby for an engine that hasn't run for nearly 7 years.
  17. Long time, no hear from.... What's up???

  18. Hi, and Welcome to the Board.

I have that intake ducting you posted about.

Email me at tomrhere at yahoo dot com. Put Suby intake in the subject line.

  19. Walk away from it for a day or two. It honestly helps to do so..... (would say go grab a beer or two, but you're not old enough) Do like the look of the tire/wheel well alignment. Don't look like the tires are "hanging out". I hates that look........
  20. Main power feed to the fusable links could've came unplugged at the link box.
  21. Murphy's Oil Soap does an excellent job on the interior. Cuts thru alot of stuff, leaves a nice Pine scent that's not to overpowering.
  22. Sounds to me like the choke isn't working right. Check for smooth movement of the choke butterfly and linkage. Check to see if you're getting 12 volts to the choke heater with key on. Check for continuity of the choke heater. (Connection on choke housing to ground). The spring inside the choke housing can break also. That may allow the choke to close, but not open. Just some thoughts.....
