  1. I'm going to have to go with "Can outrun a helicopter" as my favorite feature of my subaru!
  2. It's like Arizona U Pull or something on Camino De La Tierra just south of Orange Grove. It can be hit or miss depending on what you're looking for and when you go. Seems like their inventory cycles pretty well though.
  3. It's not lifted but we have a brat.. i know a fairly decent yard here in tucson..
  4. lol... i was just arguing with a guy the other day if you could transmit electricity wirelessly... thanks for the link!
  5. I just hit 204,000 miles in my 94 svx. It's even the ORIGINAL TRANNY! The Brat is about 240k miles when it bust a gasket or whatever's wrong with it. and Since everyone is mentioning it we also have a 91 honda accord that is just about if not already hitting 200k.
  6. I think it must have been a "dealer install" option.. because my fuse box has a slot for the seat heater fuse....
  7. Hi. I have a '94 SVX LSi I hope this helps. Anything more you should check us out over at www.subaru-svx.net
  8. I think you're thinking of the Legacy Outback Sedan. The 2.5 GT is going to have premium 16" wheels wrapped in a 205/55 .. hood scoop .. moon roof.. probably leather w/ a 6 cd changer... u know.. all the bells and whistles.. used to have one .. loved it .. very safe car.
  9. I had the 88 rx doin' about ~115mph w/ an exhaust leak in 90+F weather right before it seized a cam and caught on fire...
  10. I still gotta get some jump videos... I used to jump my legacy like that all the time!! Even the Honda wagon a few times!! The SVX loves to fly too... but that heavy motor keeps making me breaking upper strut mounts
  11. really really sticky adhesive pads?? or move to arizona where you dont need a plate in front!
  12. the belts could be a tooth or two off... or installed improperly... it would still spark but not fire.
  13. Okay, so.. I got the seals and did it up.. put it all back together and nothing is leaking. But it's still broken. I have a few guesses but I want to get everyones thoughts on it. It doesnt really like to be in second gear (acts like clutch slip and has no pull).. and absolutely wont be in 4th gear. First gear works pretty decently.. as does third... but they both do have some slip as well. The tranny fluid seems to be full and clean. Is something internal borked? Could putting the tranny cooler lines on mixed up cause a problem like this? Thoughts? Advice? Thanks guys.
  14. I'm definately going with timing belts on this one.. you should be able to find plenty of info around this board on how to change an ea82t timing belt. If you dont know how already.
  15. LOL I did that to TWO Craftsman 1/2" breakers (the 2' ones) steel pipe and everything! On a 36mm axle nut on a honda accord. ROFL. Except mine twisted off real clean and left the stub inside the socket. After I broke the second one I took the car to Big O Tires and had them use an impact gun on it.
  16. You need three things to get a car to run... Fire (Spark), Fuel, Air. Check to see if you are getting spark when it turns over. If yes.. check to see if you are getting fuel.. (is the fuel pump coming on for a second with the key in the "on" position before you attempt to start it?) Make sure there is no rats nests or rags or anything weird in the intake system.. check the air filter to make sure it is not clogged.. If all of that stuff checks out and still no start, I would do a compression test, and then the timing belts. Good luck.
  17. Considering the topic is "How to dyno ea82t FT4WD ?" ... I would think he means his car is a full-time 4wheel drive. If you're dyno'ing for power you need an awd dyno... either that or take out one of your rear half axles.. but you wont get accurate reading I don't think.
  18. Funny clunk sounds like loose brake pads. I dont know if we can ever get new shims for our older subarus.. but Jessicas brat does that too... and even rarely the SVX does it... damn worthless shims.
  19. They were referring to disconnecting the battery to see if the alternator is still putting off enough power to keep the other systems running. I hope it isn't a problem to do that because I swap batteries with my cars running all the time. Edit: It is not an accurate way to test your alternator.. you should have autozone do it.. or if you know someone with a multimeter have them test the voltage should be around 14 at idle.
  20. I'm going to put my money down on the brat. Provided the tranny holds up. Have you considering using a 5spd Fulltime4wd w/ dual range?
  21. If your vehicle is in good shape this is no problem.. especially in a 5spd DR. Just don't be trying to go from 4hi to 4lo at 65mph
  22. If you're really good at "Rev Matching" you can shift without using your clutch at all... but probalby is pretty bad on your tranny. Handy in a pinch when your clutch shatters though. I have actually had people tell me that with the style of clutch the older Subarus have that it is better to shift out of gear WITHOUT depressing the clutch pedal. I don't believe them though, so I still depress the clutch when shifting out of gear. Getting back to the original topic. It is best to leave it in gear while going down hills. The difference in gas used is minimal at best and the lack of control while in nuetral or with the clutch fully depressed is hazardous to yourself and other drivers. However, if you insist on coastin down them hills it would be best to shift in nuetral.
  23. I just wont shift into 4Lo if I'm 35mph+... anything slower than that you just gotta make sure you know what gear to be in when switching from Hi to Lo.
  24. I got crapped out of that $100 auto tranny today. Someone took the nice EJ22 that was in there and totally ruined the transmission in the process. (Broken mounts, output shafts gone, etc) So ANYWAY. I would like consider the option that the reason Starkapopolis' transmission in his 91 legacy ls is leaking tranny fluid like a funnel is the input shaft seals or something? That is the guess anyway.. it seems like it is leaking from the torque converter area... Where would you guys recommend getting a tranny reseal kit? If such a thing exsists? How hard should it be to fix the exsisting transmission?
