As some of you may have read... Jessica wrecked our 98 Leg GT.. Coincidentally I had been trying to figure out a way to buy this cherry '94 SVX.. Well, insurance ended up totalling out the Legacy... so now we're the proud new owners of an Emerald Pearl 1994 Subaru SVX. She's fully loaded down to the tan leather and suede interior; and remote locks and security system. I've only heard tantalizing stories of the way this car drives and handles. After driving it down a couple of my favorite winding mountain roads.. All I have to say is now I know what "SVX" stands for: "Sweet Vehicular 'X'tasy." With a stock tire size of 225/50/16 and a suspension that leaves me going :banana:WoW:banana: ... The car has grip forever and will only let out a drift on the most terrible opposite banked going over a hill through a wash way too fast corners. The 3.3 liter, 24-valve, four cam, horizontally opposed 6 cylinder has more than enough power all the way through the rpm range. Reaching speeds well in excess of 100mph with ease, the 4AT shifts out of second gear somewhere around 80mph with the pedal to the floor. It needs a 6MT from an STI! All this and it's a pleasure and a comfort to ride in. The seats are beyond comfortable and as a driver you have more adjustments possible than you know what to do with... including telescoping steering wheel. This car leaves me asking "Why haven't I ALWAYS had one of these?!?!" The answer: Because new they were like $35,000!! I also find myself asking "Wanna Race?" a little too often now. With great power comes great responsibility. It is hard to behave in this car! -Eli- Without further ado, here are some pics: (click for larger pics) Exterior: Interior: Motor: Thanks for reading and viewing.

ok, granted i made a stupid mistake of going 35 mph through a corner, but I DID think of the other people, just because i ONCE drove irresponsibly DOES NOT MEAN I don't think of OTHER people. There was a guy i almost hit...DID i hit him? NO So get off it already and live your own damn lives without having to judge me. I shed tears over the fact i did a stupid thing, not that i 'hurt' a material posession. They come and go, i am perfectly aware of the fact that lives DO not on circumstances you could never know. yes i am being mature about it and realizing my mistakes, who wouldn't be? God forbid i do one damn thing wrong, I mean the last time i checked i am only human and so are you. maybe you haven't hit a stupid pole, but i am sure you have done plenty of more ignorant things in life, so keep your nasty comments to yourself because it's the last thing i need to hear from people who weren't even there. really, what you 'lecturers' remind me of is the guy who was passing by us yelling 'thanks for keeping the speeders off Pima', WHEN I WAS NEVER FREAKING SPEEDING. This thread isn't for you to trash me so if that;'s all you're here to do you might as well not waste your time and close this now. And like Eli said, yes there was a cop there and you know what, HE WAS ON MY SIDE BECAUSE HE KNEW WHAT HAPPENED, and he did his job and gave me that ticket. What else do you want him to do, send me to prison for life for bumping into a pole? And think i haven't had friends in tragic road incidents because i have and that's already been thrown in my face enough as it is. And even the guy i almost hit said THANK YOU to me for NOT HITTING HIM. Not only that but don't you ever try to throw children in my face, because for the last four damn years I have been raising my sister's kids so i constantly think of whether or not there will ever be kids in danger, that guy could have a wife and kids and I KNOW that and i seriously doubt anyone would have f***ing died by getting hit at 35 mph, the way i was i going, I would have been the one coming out more damaged than him and his HUGE metal Jeep. jess

ultimate subaru road trip!!
SuBrat84 replied to PeterD's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
The only question I have is: Should I get the Legacy, the XT6, the RX, or the Brat ready for this trip? And by ready I mean: All the tools I need to rebuild a sube, Two spare tires, Two spare axles, -30F Sleeping Bags, Cooler full of food, all the spare little extra parts incase anything breaks down, snowboard, *cough cough* , plenty of water, 5 gallon gas can filled with premium fuel... etc etc... Uhmm... I got one more question now.... Will Canada allow me to drive through their country, because I have some misdemeanors on my record? Should I be okay if I get a passport and stuff? I would hate to drive from tucson to canada to find out I can't go on that journey. -
what should my compression test at
SuBrat84 replied to jeffast's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Is this the car in your sig.? My XT6 tested around 160-170psi in each cyl.. I don't think 120 is bad though. Sure someone else would know better. All my sube's at normal operating temp are between 1/3 - 1/2 on the gauge. -
You make a perfectly valid point. You can understand why I would come to the defense of my significant other though? I just think that guy could have just as easily said something along the lines of: "It is a good thing that no pedestrians or innocent bystanders were injured. Here is a good example of why we should pay more attention to our driving habits." I just felt that the statements that were made were rude and uncalled for in this situation. Kind of like this guy that was driving by and saw an officer sitting there by a couple cars and said "Thanks for getting people to slow down out on Pima St out here!" He didn't even realize that she had just been in an accident.. he thought we were getting speeding tickets! She wasn't racing or speeding or anything. She just didn't slow down to make the right turn. She wasn't used to the oversteer from the rear-sway and strut bar. So instead of making a 90 degree turn at 35mph she made a 110 degree turn into a telephone pole at 35mph. She OVERSTEERED (right?) to avoid drifting into an oncoming car. I am proud of her that she had enough control to avoid hitting anyone that didn't deserve it. She didn't go up on the sidewalk or anything. The poles are real close to the curbs here... Sorry for ranting... I just HATE when people start making assanine(sp?) comments about things without knowing all the facts. -Eli-

First of all, she wasn't "pushing it". She just didn't slow down to make the corner.. mostly because she had a long hard day at work and a fever of 102. Second of all, isn't it OVER steer when you turn more than is needed and understeer when you drift wider than you meant to? Third of all.. there was a cop on the scene and she did get a failure to reduce and control speed. That is why she has to go driving school. This thread isn't here for you to talk badly about my fiance'. This thread is here so people can see the damage to our car. If you don't have anything nice to post here, don't post here.

Who did your clutch job?? It is possible they left something loose? Or busted a mount and didn't fix it?? Did you have the car before the new clutch?? Did it do it before? How long after did it start if not?? Definately sounds like a mount problem... possible broken/very loose... good luck keep us posted

Yeah I had an 82 Wagon where the light ONLY came on w/ the brights... weird.

the air bags never deployed. I didn't hit hard enough. The pole didn't get damaged either, but even if it did the insurance would cover that, too. i get to take my first driving class and that'll clean this mess off my record. Not like i don't deserve it there, it was my own stupidity, however everybody likes a clean record:grin: . It's not oil you see there on the ground, it's coolant. There is no such thing as a radiator left in that car. There was all kinds of steam coming out of the hood that this idiot thought it was smoke and thought my car was on fire. He rushed up to me yelling "get away! your car is on fire!" and me being shook up enough as it is started crying because i never want to see a Suby burn and ran across the street and I turned and looked and saw steam. I told him "thank you for letting me know, but it's ok it's just steam, my car is not on fire." All the people there were very cool, event he guy i nearly hit was being awesome, i wouldn't have blamed him if he came up to me yelling and screaming, no doubt i pissed him off, but he was still great about it. The steam did clear up pretty quickly, i hardly remember it there for more than 2 minutes, but that could just be me, i dunno. Thanks to all of you for being so cool, probably in the future I can have the time to come on here more and get some good driving pointers from all of you:-p god knows i'll need them LOL:banghead: . ok ~*~jess~*~

Could be a slightly warped rotor or something... or it might've just got kinda hot.. keep an eye on it.. if you start noticing it a lot it's probably the rotors... Here's a 98 2.5 GT: It was running good until my fiance' did this to it: Watch out for those telephone poles! They jump out at ya! It still runs... but I wouldn't drive it! Subaru's are tough! You sound like you "baby" your car enough to get a lot of life out of it!

The oversteer got her (Jessica) ... and she put it into a telephone pole makin' a hard 90 into our neighborhood... Only 1/2 a mile from our house... I had to put the spare on there to tow it home (with the RX) Forgot to take pics of the damage wheel... Jessica is okay.. she is having some minor back pains that we will keep an eye on. We have to wait for the claims adjuster to come out and take a look at it I guess. I have mixed feelings about it... I love the car... it's great.. but at the same time it would be kind of good for us if they total it out.. (Cheaper insurance.. etc..) Maybe if they total it out I can do buy back and part it out.. and afford an SVX or somethin. We'll see what happens... I'll keep everyone posted. -Eli-

clutch job this weekend
SuBrat84 replied to uncoolperson's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Make sure you align the pilot bearing and clutch plate very in the center... i used my finger to make sure it was the same distance all the way around... It makes it WAY impossible to put the tranny back in without that stuff aligned good. Good luck.. have fun! -
brat owners check this out...
SuBrat84 replied to tailgatewagon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I need (want) a brat shirt, an XT6 shirt, an RX shirt, and a GT shirt... a USMB shirt would be nice... maybe 2 or three of each... -
So I bought "YellowSub"s RX last night. Thanks for the great deal Marisa!!! We also got a cute little puppy a few days ago. She is a pure-bred Siberian Husky. We decided to name her "Justy." These were taken at Reddington Pass just outside of Tucson, AZ. This is my fiance' Jessica, our new puppy, and our new '88 RX: http://gallery.usmb.net/albums/album17/JesRX.jpg[/img]"] The RX and "Justy": http://gallery.usmb.net/albums/album17/RX_Puppy.jpg[/img]"] RX, Justy, again: http://gallery.usmb.net/albums/album17/RX_Puppy2.jpg[/img]"] 3 More of the RX: http://gallery.usmb.net/albums/album17/RX_rp.jpg[/img]"] http://gallery.usmb.net/albums/album17/RX_rp2.jpg[/img]"] http://gallery.usmb.net/albums/album17/RX_rp3.jpg[/img]"] Thanks for takin' a peep at the things I love!!! -Eli-

So I guess the compressor is not coming on... I jiggled it and it shot a little bit of air to the front right strut to try and get it to inflat and then it just died... this thing has electrical issues out the wazuu... I'm still working on the fuel system... Thanks for all the good info.. and I have been over on xt6.net a bit.. and I've even been waiting for like a week to get approved so i can post over there...

I haven't been able to troubleshoot it... but I should have a better idea by next week... I just want some opinions what you guys think about the Air Suspension vs. Putting the KYB's in it?? Are these air shocks even replacable if they are bad? What are some common problems with the air suspension? What should I look for with it up on blocks? etc etc?
