  1. the green connectors are for diagnostics .. dont connect them.. dont run your car with them connected. there is nothing wrong with your car.
  2. I've seen that commercial.. it's kinda funny. The Tribeca is actually starting to grow on me. The pics I first saw of it I didn't like. It looks better on video. It maybe even look better in person... I still HATE THE CRAP out of that front end though.
  3. Was this after you pulled the tranny? Does it make it easier somehow to undo the motor mounts?? I got paid $120 bux to do a clutch job on an 88 rx.. i think they paid about $130 for the clutch kit.. came with an alignment tool. $400 is a good deal I think to have a shop do it for you.. because then it has some kind of warranty right?
  4. I've got the perfect tracks for that in Tucson... I jump them 80% of the time I go over them. 62mph is perfect.. smoother than goin 10mph over them.. I'll get pics and vids when I get a chance! I've jumped the legacy in a few other spots.. One was REAL scary I thought I was gonna hit the next up and flip end over end... doin about 80... but I dropped.. perfect in the bottom of the wash.. all 4 tires .. didnt bottom out.. I was thrilled. JUMP YOUR ROO! They like it.
  5. Big O offers free rotate and balance every "5000" miles. They don't keep track of rotate and balances... I generally do it every 3000 miles. I don't understand what you mean by the above statement?
  6. Does this somehow prevent fluid going everywhere? Or is just so you have a "hose" to shoot the fluid into a bottle??
  7. SO... Big O Tires rate their Euro Tour as a 40k mile tire and they supposedly have these great warranties blah blaH blah. I've got maybe MAYBE 25k on these tires... they are 3 of them BALD very evenly and one that has inner belts peeling off the way sun burnt skin starts to peel. It's scary. They said this is MY fault and is "mechanical" tire wear and not covered by the "warranty". They said the best they can do is pro-rate me the unused "miles" and sell me a new set of tires. IS there anything I can do or am I just F'ed??
  8. Off road it a ton.. never have a problem. If I do I'll just part it out and find another $500 'roo.
  9. I look like a "druggy" to a lot of people, I'd be willing to bet. If I had the extra money and was into Subaru's.. I'd stop and bug people about it like that. Doesn't mean I'm planning on robbing you or giving you counterfit money.
  10. Also.. these auto trans "learn" the way you drive.. is the car driven by just you? Try: Disconnect the battery and then turn on your dome light or headlights to drain any latent energy in the lines... leave it disconnected for about 10-30 minutes... this will reset your computer and the transmission will begin re-learning the way you drive. I did this once and it wouldn't shift into 2nd or 1st. AT ALL. IT scared the crap out of me. I had to turn the car off.. then back on.. then everything was good. Make sure your tires are ALL the same size.. and relatively same amount of tread left on the tire.
  11. 88 RX Full-time 5 speed diff lock etc.. 1st) The speedo is WAY outta whack.. It's way hyper.. like it shows 100mph coming out of 2nd gear.. Cruising in 3rd around 2k rpms shows 115mph!! Weee that's fast!! Tips? Tricks? New cable? Idea's?? 2nd) How the hell do you tighten the AC belt? This is the set up with a mech. fan and seperate belts for the alt / ac. The belt needs to be replace.. but she wants it tightened to see if gets rid of any of the massive squeeling from turning on the AC. Thanks in Advance
  12. sounds like the bolts that hold the tranny together?? Have you tried tightening them just a little?
  13. Hey cory.. That is our Brat in the Avatar. Any questions you have, including the ones in the e-mail.. you would probably want to post in the "New Gen" forum.. as it pertains to a Legacy. Go ahead and shoot it out.. no one is going to be too harsh on you.. we all ask "stupid" questions when learning.. but the only question that is truly Stupid is the one you DONT ask!!! (It doesn't hurt to use the search feature to try and help locate an answer to your problems.) Sounds like it could be a wheel bearing or a cv joint. Have you had a good look at ALL of your CV boots? There is two on each half axle.. one near the drive train.. and one near the wheel. Check if any of these are torn and spitting out grease... And go ahead and start a new thread to ask your questions... you will get a lot of good input from people with far more experiance than me. -Eli-
  14. I was late on the shudder.. His wave already dropped..... you can see it covering his hood if you look close.
  15. Hey.. I lived in Madrid when I was in 6th grade! I used to go fishing on the Grasse river ... Mannnn I bet there is some GOOD wheelin' out there!!!!
  16. Yeah.. gotta love going to get someone unstuck and just happening upon these fabulous wheelin' funland that is right across town. Multiple (At least 8) water crossing... some a little tougher than others... sand you'll get stuck in.. hill climbs galore.. sand and hardpack.. cliff's you'll drive off of if you don't pay attention..
  17. So.... In this first one.. you can kinda see one of the t-tops poppin' up.. and you can KINDA make out the hood line inside that wall of water.....: And this is going back across it the other way... : And here is one of Ryker going through it in his 88 GL... : Enjoy!!
  18. Hey cory, First of all, gotta say hello and welcome to the board. Sounds like you'll fit right in!! The hill assist feature you refer to... would this be the "Hill Holder" when you push the clutch and then brake.. you can release the brake and not roll back?? All 4wd Manual subaru's are equipped with this feature.. unfortunately on a lot of the older ones it gets out of adjustment and people don't know about it!!! Gotta say, don't worry about doing brakes.. it's easy on these cars.. I got it down to where I can do all four tires in about 15 minutes. You don't even have to bleed them.. the caliper just turns and compresses(front disc).. no nasty fluid all over the place!! Again, welcome and enjoy! -Eli and Jessica-
  19. We want to go SOOO badly. We would have to take the 98 GT because it's the only ride that is reliable enough to make it that far... but we would need new tires and can't really afford the gas for the 4000 mile round trip that it would be. Just hit 80k on the odo last night.. If I had the extra grand we would totally be there. *Depressed*
  20. I park my 98 gt two spots away (assigned covered parking) from a newer WRX.. and then my brat next to my gt. that's the only soobies I see in this apartment complex... over at YellowSub's place we got my XT6, her gen 1 brat, her 88 RX, and a parts gen 1 brat way in the back. About 5 miles up the road on the way from my place to hers I pass a very nice red 92-93 Legacy and their neighbor has a tan EA82 GL Wagon. I see a ton of Outbacks and Foresters around town..
  21. If you got the $300 and you know it's just a blown turbo? I'd say go for it... if it's like a blown gasket or something.. you gotta ask yourself how much work you're willing to put into a rebuild? Axle is no big deal you can get 'em for ~$75 a piece.
