Hey it's no big deal.. I like the soobies
-
I'm thinking it's the bearings too.. it is a constant.. grinding or kinda noise.. but it's speed related... apparently has nothing to do with the brakes. I want to come over and lift it up and see if I can pinpoint where the noise is coming from.. are you busy tomarrow??

Not use exhaust heat shields? (RX)
SuBrat84 replied to gotime242's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I guess you could spend ~$130 and get your downpipe ceramic coated to 2000º tolerance. I'd only do that on a custom job though.. -
HELP..no dash/tail lights.not fuses so I'm ????
SuBrat84 replied to Ryanb's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Check your fusable links near your battery. (Pull them out and inspect them.. they often "look" good when they are really burned up under the nylon) Check for loose or borken grounds wires especially under the dash.. check for cut and/or arcing wires underneath the rearend.. and under the hood.. -
I dont know about the gen 1 stuff... but with some minor modification to the "body" of my 98 Legacy GT I put a 22mm Rear Sway and Whiteline Rear Strut Brace from a 2002 Impreza RS. I would imagine that your gen 1 stuff should be compatible.. some people said my Impreza stuff wouldn't fit on the legacy.. but it eventually did. Give it a try and let us know!

That time in Clatskanie.. was when we went to the mountain? Car got towed? That couldn't have been more than 6 years ago..
-
4 or 5 years at least?? Maybe 6? I didn't pay any attention to the brand of the clutch.. we have an "import" parts store down here called "BAP" .. they carry pretty good stuff. It's a good clutch. (kit)... Anyway.. you want me to do your clutch.. you're gonna have to pay my gas to get there and back home.. and we'll need two floor jacks.

I'm just glad you kept me well supplied with cold water.. paid me good green cash.. and most importantly let me drive it!! That turbo is FUN!
-
Did you make that?? If you did.. you should make the bar come up higher so you can get the front tire in there a little further... but that design looks good as well... you may have to get some similiar for the rear tire that is adjustable that you could mount to the tailgate. I don't know if you are trying to carry street bikes or dirt bikes??
-
How much is that costing you? Do you want me to go have a look at the U-Pull? I Could do that on my way if you want me to do your brakes tomarrow???

That's what I was thinking too.. but I read this .... So That's why I asked if it was a Legacy.... But yeah.. I _WAS_ gonna say a Red XT w/ 16" GT Wheels... but I LIKE it! -
Yeah.. very tip top of the fork there is a little hole for what looks like where a spring would go.. hill holder and clutch cable are hooked up. I think a spring goes there. Maybe without the spring you burn clutches up faster??? That's what I'm thinking.

That red one.. Turbo Legacy? On 16" GT Wheels? I Likey. -
Do you mean like THIS??? The front tire fit between the jump seats because one of my handles is broken off and totally gone. Here is a list of everything that is in the back of the brat: 1) CR250 Dirtbike 2) 20" Mongoose 3) Air Compressor 4) Two Spare Tires 5) Full Toolbox 6) Case of Oil 7) Dirtbike Ramp 8) JUMP SEATS too!

Brumby's / Brats still in production in Japan
SuBrat84 replied to ausubaru92's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Can I get a 94 Brat(Brumby!) Right-Hand Drive please? Thank you. I bet something like that would bring 15k U.S. at least in good condition. -
Had a good find today!

I want to get a nice "off-road" wagon. Not a station wagon or a GL wagon.. but like the kind of wagon you pull your kids around in? with the big meaty pnuematic tires? yeah! Off Road Wagon is the way to go at the junkyards!! -
I just did a clutch job on an 88 rx and was wondering the same thing about that clutch fork.. i can even see a spot.. maybe 4-6 inches away that a spring could go to.. i think the spot is right above the flywheel? ... Anyway.. is there supposed to be a spring there? Feedback? btw the rx shifts perfectly without it.

Not use exhaust heat shields? (RX)
SuBrat84 replied to gotime242's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
That piece could probably be left in.. but there is still like 3 or 4 other little pieces all over that thing... -

Yeah, I just did a clutch job on an 88 RX and had to take all that crap out and put it back in... that seems like a LOT of heat shieldings... seems like stuff should be okay with out the shields... you might need to upgrade any wires near it though??? -

I would like to hear any input about this as well. -
How much should i torque down the oil pan bolts?
SuBrat84 replied to gotime242's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Haha. I didn't see the "INCH POUNDS" next to the "44" in my manual... I only snapped one oil pan bolt off in the motor before I realized how much of an idiot I was. I just get them tight as I can with a driver then a 1/4 turn with the rachy. (That's approx. 3.6 FT Lbs.) -
Cali sucks. Down here you can get it registered and licensed if it's a toilet with an engine, seat belt, head lights, turn signals, and a windshield. (Windsheild excluded on Motorcycles and "Golf Carts") It's gotta be a four stroke though. Unless it was imported here as a two stroke... (Yay 360's!) In Pima County you can get an "ATV" or "4-Wheeler" street legal as long as you have the proper lights and signals and it is a 4 stroke. My cousin built a toyota landcruiser on a chevy blazer frame that he cut 4 feet out of the frame, used a 350 chevy motor carbed.. then later put fuel injection on it.. and like 4" exhaust. If it can pass those smog sniffers and pass a fairly easy inspection.. you're good to go. I love seeing the sand rails driving around town.

4wd, is it engaged or not?
SuBrat84 replied to bboy135's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
lol.. I went with my uncle one time to "tow" a car that "wouldn't start" .... we got their and were messin with the car seein' if we could get it going so we didn't have to chain drag a car through phoenix. After a minute of looking around under the hood I discovered a rats nest... and thoroughly chewed up wires going to the coil.
