  1. Just give me a couple days notice before you go out there so I can see what I can afford. My fuel pump is SHOT.. but i might try to find a new one.. but I would like to get the outter windshield trim on the passenger side.. i'll get pics tomorrow or thursday. I need a good rad cap.. oh well.. ill get the list and pics.. and jussst let me know a day or two before you head out there.. .
  2. I Fixed this exact same problem in an 82 gl sedan.. it was the fusable links.. take a look.. tell us what you find.. it's worth the 30 seconds it takes to check the FL!
  3. Sounds like a Fusable Link to me. I think the one you need is green. Pull them out one by one and pull on the ends... if they come apart your fusable link is burned out and needs to be replaced. It's hard to tell by eye if they are burned because of the shielding they have.. it's best to take them out and "pull" test them.. good luck. (They are in a little plastic box kinda like a cigarette pack.. i Think it's near the battery.)
  4. *Bump* Anyone else gonna try to make it to the Lake?? I know there's more people down here in the SW!
  5. I haven't tried it.. but supposedly 4 caps of rubbing alcohol for every 5 galllons gas should help you pass.
  6. I've been searching around for this for a while now.. and the closest thing I could find was an 88 wagons fuel pump location. It's an 89 XT6 and it's been sitting a while.. gas is yellow/orange and smells like terputine(sp?) .. I want to purge the gas tank.. but I don't think the fuel pump is pumping.. and don't know where it's at.. Would it be easier to try and take the gas tank out and clean it that way? Change the fuel sock and filters? flush out or even upgrade the fuel lines?? Thanks.
  7. By the "other" fan.. do you mean a clutch fan? If you have a clutch fan and an electric fan.. wouldn't the electric be for AC? In all my cars w/ 2 electric fans.. they only both come on with the AC running.
  8. single electric fan in my 1984 ea81 keeps it cool just fine in 110 degrees.
  9. Well, It looks as though the belt is good. I couldn't get the drivers side cover all the way off due to the bottom bolt on it seeming to be stripped.. It just spins there... what do I do? they turned evenly and everything.. but Im not sure if I'm going off the right marks... there is a little hole underneath a certain tooth... and on one side it should be straight up.. and on the otherside it should be straight down? IF this is the case.. the belt is good. Doesn't look cracked or worn. I didn't realize you needed a crazy tool or "super slim" socket to get to the sparg plugs.. so i didnt do a compression check yet... but i was checking the wires for spark... and I'm having some spark problem.. so take all the wires off the cap... and check the spark at the cap.. and its there... but barely... so i pull the coil to cap wire off and it's weak.. so i pull that wire off the coil and THERE's a GOOD spark. So at this point.. I'm thinking.. Wires and Fuel.. she'll run. Thoughts? Opinions? By the way: I found the spark plug tool in the trunk right before I left! Yay I can do a Compression test!
  10. Sounds to me like he intends to put a 525hp STI motor and drivetrain into it. That would be very impressive. The "real" Lambo would be AWD wouldn't it?
  11. The parts car she is talking about is a Gen 1 brat I found in a junk yard. white/blue with a high roll bar and bull bar.
  12. for Eli and for Jessica. We would prefer to meet up in Tucson somewhere easy preferrably along the freeway (Maybe I-10 and Alvernon? This would allow "back-road" travel so we don't have to go on the 75mph freeway.) around 10 or 11 am and caravan to Arivaca, make a pit stop at the mercantile (Last point of civilization) and then caravan the rest of the way to the lake... times could be negotiable.. and if you couldn't make it for the caravan.. directions will be provided. We would like to camp out saturday night.. and come back up on Sunday morning or early afternoon. I'm voting on the 25th.. so we have time to plan and see who can make it. Keep the feedback coming!
  13. Valve cover gaskets are very easy and very cheap. First thing I ever did to my 82 GL Wagon was change the valve cover gaskets.. I think a pair is like $7-$12. Good luck. On the other hand, if your HEAD gasket is leaking oil... you probably should fix that.. i think you can get a gasket kit for like $120-$130? It's a very involved process.. pulling the motor and everything... i think a lot of mechanics charge like 300% labor to parts charges.. and then get there parts for 50% more than we do..
  14. A few ideas: Mt. Lemmon, good scenery plenty of twisty mountain road.. good bar-b-que spots.. not much off roading except the trail that goes down the back of the mountain to Oracle... Expect a "half-day" drive.. nothing a stock 98 Legacy GT doesn't mind going through.. take it slow and you might not scrape it up too bad I think there is a $5 a day fee if you plan on stopping *anywhere* besides summerhaven or ski valley ( http://www.mt-lemmon.com/ ) ; Reddington Pass, "Twisting Mountain Unpaved Road" is the best way to describe it.. Plenty of Bar-b-que spots, shooting spots, if you like shooting your gun.. Plenty of *off-road* Very few trails you'd want to take your stock rig on.. (Huh, Ryker?) No fees here.. except maybe littering if they catch you not picking up your shells or targets Arivaca Lake.. It's about 60-70 miles SW of Tucson... but it's a good free place to have a good size camp out.. fishing for those who take pleasure.. Large Mouth Bass, Catfish, Blue Gill, Etc... Don't eat them though.. we got mercury.. wouldn't hurt to have a license.. fish and game do show up out there once in a while. It's near some very nice trails of varying difficulty.. for the off-roaders in the group.. and it's a very nice curvy drive in for any "street" type! I've driven an Impreza with a 1-1.5" drop to the lake before.. so getting to the lake is not a problem.. but is a few miles of dirt. I'm sure you could shoot your guns out there also.. just be responsible and be CAREFUL about ricocheting(sp?) your bullets and that kind of thing. Plenty of camping spots if you want to have a nice camp fire and stay the night by a lake.. Bring your row boat or canoe! Best view of the stars you'll find without going to the top of a mountain. Only drawback is when you leave you stand a good chance of being stopped by a U.S. Border Patrol agent so he can make sure you don't have any drugs or illegal immigrants in your vehicle. **Make sure your guns are legal, and please be responsible. If you choose to bring them. It's probably kinda of apparent that my place of choice is Arivaca Lake. Especially for a "Wild West Subaru Jamboree!" (Bring your instruments too!) I really think it's worth the drive down there.. Especially if you want to camp out. There's a 99% chance that NO ONE would bug us out there.. so bring your brew.. or there is a Mercantile 7 miles from the lake.. if you don't mind the BFE price increase of an extra $1 for *anything* (stuff under $2 is only jacked up $.30-$.50) Arivaca is the closest thing to the wild west you'll see in Arizona.. except maybe Old Tucson Studios or Tombstone if you want the "story-book" version of the Wild West. Anyway. Any other opinions or ideas where to go?
  15. I'm sure she didn't mean it like that. Of course any soobie ppl should get invited... especially if you're willing to make the drive. "The More, The Merrier" I say! I think we got a couple guys out in Sierra Vista too?
  16. Ea81 or 82 Turbo.. or EJ22 Turbo.. .. the ea81 Turbo, harder to find would be a direct swap.. but you'd need the ecu too.. EJ22 Turbo isn't a direct fit but it's not too hard, from what I understand, to get the plates to match it up. the 2.2 T is the way to go if you want a "sleeper"!! The ea82t would be great though.. out of like an RX or XT (Turbo)...
  17. Nah I guess I don't need a how to.. i just hate those bookes I'm gonna go look at the emission sticker now.. the valve covers dont have any stickers on them.. thx.
  18. I think my brother had one of those on his 93 Z71 4x4
  19. Sounds like when the AC Compressor kicks in and also turns the secondary (or both?) fans on..
  20. Yeah I talked to him too.. I guess I gotta wait like a week or two.. I'm not sure.. he's being kinda vague.. but he did say he definately wants me to come work for him. That would be worth bar-b-q'in for!
  21. LOL! That would be cool though!! I haven't heard from Ryan (Ryker) in a few weeks... But there's not that many of us here in Tucson.. I want to try and get something set up if I get this job at Japanese Unlimited.. Like a celebration cook-out / party kinda thing...
