  1. should be fine if your lug pattern is the same... might rub in your fender wells a little.. might not.. give it a try and let us know!
  2. This is the only thing that might give a hint about needing a computer for this... Engine Family: EFJ1.8T2AFD3 (109 CID) EGR / AIV / OC Evaporative Emissions Family: NU Anybody know what all this means? Was this thing a turbo at one time? Maybe this hood is off a turbo?? Is there different computers for the EA81? Thanks.
  3. Anyone know how much a computer for an EA81 costs??
  4. I was just wondering if anyone would know if strut brace / sway bar / springs from an '02 Impreza 2.5 would fit on my 98 Legacy 2.5 ??
  5. Okay.. I'm not up to date on the specs... But an Outback is a Legacy.. but like "beefier" (and maybe they put the 6 cyl in outbacks) "Subaru Legacy Outback" The Legacy wagon is going to be "L = 2.2l" and "GT = 2.5l" 4 cyl engines. The Forester is an Impreza.. "Subaru Impreza Forester" they also have "Subaru Impreza Outback" (Sport, i think.) And I'm not positive what motors they are using in the Impreza wagons...
  6. Well I tightened down the reed limiters.. it still lets lots of air through but is much quieter.. It would seems that most of the noise is being caused by too much air getting through .. or even the exhaust sucking the air through (more likely)... which I can only assume is being caused by improper or leaky vacuum hoses somewhere.. a lot of this rubber looks like it's original and thus 21 years old... I'll be replacing it all as soon as i can afford to.. so hopefully that will improve the noise too... Also, should this Brat (84 GL EA81) being having a computer in it? The cat does have the O2 sensor.. I was going to buy a new one so it would have the wire (the old one is cut at the nub) to plug into... well I dunno where it plugs into. Thanks for your input.
  7. Okay.. i see where a computer would mount.. and MAYBE even some wires that would plug into one.. but there is no computer... wtf? What do you think of my idea of not letting the reed open as far?
  8. Could you please describe better what the computer would look like / location of said computer? (84 brat) Here's pics of inside of the ASV:
  9. What!?! I'm not supposed to have an O2 sensor on my cat?! It's carbed... I just dont want it making so much damn noise... it sounds sooo pretty with that valve plugged BTW, I have this ASV in my lap right now if you want to see pics of it apart... i am thinking.. would it make less noise if i bend that metal piece so the reed can't open as far???
  10. I took it apart and cleaned it. Everything seems to be in good working order... but this thing is still making a ton of noise.. before I pinpointed this thing I thought I had bad rings... but it's definately the ASV.. if I plug it the motor sounds SO GOOD. Could it be making this noise because i don't have the O2 sensor hooked up (no wire)? Could the reed valves be bad even though they look good? Can you get new reed valves or do i need to replace the whole ASV?
  11. I have the hoses and stuff for it.. i just have them unhooked right now to try and figure out why the damn thing is so loud...
  12. AND WHY IS IT SO DAMN LOUD? If I plug the end where the hose goes it quiets up just fine.. and everything sounds GREAT on this motor until I unplug the hole and this thing starts making all kinds of noise... any ideas? (84 brat EA81)
  13. i undid the ac line on my 98 legacy and it sprayed R134a refrigerant all over the freakin place for like 45 seconds.. i was outside in a well ventilated area and just stood upwind and watched... then cleaned up the mess with shop towels.
  14. As far as I know it's to have your parking lights on without needing your key in the ignition... so your car will look "COOL" on friday night in that parking lot with all your ricer friends.
  15. i knew the USAF term.. i always call it "Mother of all Bombs" .... they named a town there MOAB? weird.
  16. It was coming from the catalytic converter area.. but from inside the car with the windows down it sounds like its coming from the engine bay....
  17. That's the best answer to this thread I've seen yet
  18. Hey, Jessica (and me too ) was wondering if MOAB is an acronym.. and if so, what it stands for? Thanks!
  19. Some kind of exhaust shielding maybe? I used to get some exhaust shielding noise on my 98 legacy kinda seems like what you're talking about...
  20. This is what I was asking.. my uncle was calling them "jugs" ... he said people do them all the time in VW's and Porche's .. but i can see where they'd be a solid piece.. my atv is solid... I'm not too worried about it.. just wanted to see what kind of info i could get about it.
  21. Thanks avenger, sounds like a good kit. Got a URL for a place to buy it? Yeah.. I want to redo my exhaust gaskets anyway.. good idea / bad idea to use ultra copper gasket sealer on exhaust?? and uhmm.. anyone know a good place to get an aftermarket or oem y-pipe / catalytic converter? It's kinda getting hard to try and weld the holes shut!
  22. Makes perfect sense to me.. Thanks for clearing this up for me. I'm just going to hone and do the rings then. I will have to replace the head gaskets and valve cover gaskets while I'm in there? Any recommendations of other stuff I need to do while I'm in there? Thanks!
  23. Ok.. he said it's not boring.. but like a jugs/piston kit.. they have them for VW's / Porches.. i didnt know wtf he was talkin about though... hone/rings sounds fine to me
