  1. Okay.. so I just did a compression test on the brat. #1 - 148.. #2 - 155.. #3 - 150.. #4 - 130 (Nooo!) I'm thinking bad rings.. Junkie told me maybe gasket though.. Anyway.. since I'm going to be in there messin with that stuff anyway.. Jessica's uncle thinks we should try and get bigger jugs and pistons (going 2.0) I was wondering if anyone has done this.. any info on this.. do they even got 'em.. etc.. So, let's hear it!
  2. www.subarubrat.com - this one!
  3. Hey man.. Sorry to hear about your loss. Glad you're okay though. I had an 82 GL Wagon that I moved from Portland, OR to Tucson, AZ in... To make a long story short a guy made a left in front of me down here and I t-boned him. Car got totalled out. Anyway, my insurance company didn't give me the blue book value.. they gave me market value from where I purchesed the vehicle! (About $400 more than market value where I live!) So they ended up giving me 1300 for it. You might ask your insurance about that.
  4. I haven't floated any subaru's myself... but I think this is an awesome idea! If some cubans can do it with an old pick up im sure it could be done with a sooby!! I would imagine you would have to seal up the bottom of the engine bay with a type of keel.. and depending if you just wanted a land/water vehicle or a land/water/off-roader... but you could use the rear drive line to attach a propeller to.. so when you engage 4wd then you prop is turning.. but then maybe you wouldn't want your front wheels to still be turning? Maybe you could add a lever that disengaged your drive line and axles and engages a driveline for the prop.. definately would be a fun project!
  5. I am assuming you have the unlimited searches for carfax.com? I would LOVE to see the reports for my 2 subarus, especially the 98 since the site is saying it haas _17_ records!!! and when i bought it the report the dealer showed me had like 4 or 5 records on it. I know i didnt rack up 15 reports?!?! 4S3BD6755W7210093 JF2AT53B2EE504633 So.. if anyone could help out with e-mail me those reports I'd really appriciate it! Thanks!
  6. My 98 Legacy has an adjustable height leather drivers seat
  7. Probably not the same thing but I had an 82 GL Wagon that did that and it was a dry CV joint.. (boot tore.. no grease) .. didnt make any noise in 4wd though.
  8. My ea81 (84 brat) does this too.. but it is stock exhaust (intermediate pipe and muffler are Walker) original cat though. I am curious about it.. but it doesn't do it very often. Usually just if i reallly get on it to 4000+ rpms and then let my foot all the way off the pedal.
  9. burning diff fluid is pretty heinous too.. check your differential fluid level
  10. Cool I gotta do the front discs anyway.. so hopefully that will take care of it. (I know it's not squeaky pads.. I know the difference.) I hope it's something simple like dirt in the rotor or somewhere... If it's the tranny.. is it repairable.. or do i need a new one?
  11. Took the 84 brat for a little 4wd'in today... on the way home i noticed a rhythmic whooping / squeaking turn right... It seems to only happen in 4th gear goin about 35-45 mph.. Any suggestions? Ball joints? Let me know!
  12. Shell: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=33894Let's work somethin out
  13. Yuma's the dunes on I8 right? I could see where it'd be hotter there than tucson..
  14. Tucson, AZ - know a yard that has one in an early 90's legacy for $600... ecu.. wiring everything.. looks like a good motor.. they said it ran when they put it in the yard...
  15. This just popped into my head.. I haven't given it any thought in a long time but thought I'd see what everyone here thinks. 98 Legacy 2.5 GT : Under the dash there is a couple of green connectors that plug into each other perfect. I noticed them maybe a week after I got the car.. So i was like "hmmm" and plugged them in... immediately upon starting the car .. CEL .. so i was like "What did the dealer do to my car?" (had a new short block put in... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=33887 ) So I unplugged the wires to keep the engine light off thinking "Are those supposed to be plugged in? and they unplugged them to hide a problem?" So I asked the dealer about it.. and of course they replied "Oh, those plug into a diagnostic / cpu controller computer, if you plug those into each other and drive with them plugged in, you will cause serious problems." So... What do you all think of this? My thoughts were "Why would something that's supposed to plug into a computer be able to plug into each other?" ....
  16. That thing is HOT!!! It could be street legal in Tucson too!! How much does everyone think it's worth? I GOTTA get one!!! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!
  17. So.. Apparently the radiator fan is wired for "on with key" .. Kinda disappointed.. was hopin it would come on with temp like it's supposed to... Don't see it being a problem being always on though.. any thoughts on this?
  18. Where do I get seafoam? Yay!!! Shift Boot!!
  19. Looks Good. I like the blue. Sucks that it's comin off that one piece already. How's the new gauge work? Awesome that it's backlit. You should get some pics of your gauges in action! Keep up the good work Jessica says it looks pretty!
  20. Got the rad working.. replaced the pcv valve.. seems to be doing good now.. still sounds rough which worries me a little.. but maybe just because it has a lot of miles on it (200k+) but the motor is strong and everything seems to be in working order. As far as the rad goes... it was some ground wire that i guess was supposed to be plugged onto the radiator.. and then like previously mentioned the radiator was supposed to be ground to the body.. It's all good now.
  21. The wire is there... I'm going to try hooking it up "Better" ... No overflow res? Where does the overflow go?
