Loyale vs. Legacy Offroad Comparison!
if you have a legacy with an auto that you can lock the center diff with then that would probably be better than the ea82 d/r for crawling...

EA81 4spd to EA82 5spd swap roll call...
what's this "Jerry's kit" I keep hearing about? can somebody link me to it? sounds like I'll need the help of a pro to do the 5-speed swap... thanks!

Need help with these ea81 lines
IMAGE01.jpg = feedback sensor you don't need any more... IMAGE02.jpg = not sure on the round thing with pink arrow... keep the other thing for sure, isn't it a coolant or oil passage? IMAGE03.jpg = I think it's the breather line for the tank... I think I left mine dangling... not sure exactly... I had to trial and error to figure out which was the return and the breather... IMAGE04.jpg = cover this? yes, you can eliminate the EGR... the other thing is PCV, you probably want that... IMAGE05.jpg = on mine they went to more sensors by the passenger side firewall... you can get rid of those... there's one somewhere that goes into the firewall, keep that one on manifold vacuum... IMAGE06.jpg = manifold coolant passage, keep that... I'm sure somebody with more knowledge will chime in with what I missed or got wrong... (:

Another suby build
d'oh! I thought the door panel looked a little odd... hehe... I saw that, but figured it's still just a work in progress... and didn't know if it'd been rolled since the pic... and seeing that clean crossmember almost makes me want to fix my oil pan gasket and clean my member off...

Another suby build
an '85 with an auto-seatbelt track? and why'd you rip out the dash?

Advice on what to buy?
you know, I knew when I typed that I might be a year off...

Advice on what to buy?
GL all the way... I've only owned one loyale and I won't do it again... all the little creature comforts were removed from the loyale... so get a GL with a 5 speed and dual-range tranny... make sure it doesn't have any cooling/overheating problems or clicking axles when you turn sharp... oh, and '87 or newer with fuel injection, unless you want a carburetor for some reason...
-
back again, at/mt transfers/diff's
are you looking for a chart that shows what car came with what tranny and diff and all the ratios?

been a Lot of posts for questions recently
nice to meet you! I threw some soda at the screen, so it should sticky up soon...

Can't figure it out...
and the blank under the ashtray is for stereo fader/balance before '83... '83 and after I think the power mirror control went there...

Saturday Drive
ouch! I learned the same way to NEVER go offroad without a skid plate... what looks like innocent plants growing in the middle of the road's tire tracks can be a huge rock...
-
EA82 GL radio install
the mounting brackets would have been screwed to the stock radio and hooked on the screws at the front where the trim piece covers them... you don't need them to put an aftermarket radio in there... get a kit like this one that Major Lazy is talking about... most radio shops that have a subaru community will carry this in stock... come with both the ea82 and ea81 mounting face plates... that holds the front of the stereo up... hold the back up with a short piece of galvanized plumbers tape...
-
does anyone have the optional tire inflator extenguisher
since it's a "tyre" inflator it's probably not a US option...
-
Which is better
black bottom looks a lot better...

Saturday Drive
cool pictures... looks like exactly what I like to do when I go into the forest... find the spots that most people can't get to in a normal car... take every little road you find, which is usually an old logging offshoot that ends with a fire pit that's now a camp site... good times...

4WDing in the forests of Victoria - Australia
great pictures... love that forest terrain... well, except for the deep water, I won't drive through that... (: looks like a lot of fun though...

Project: Rustoleum on Grandma
sweet, I've been waiting for somebody here to do that so I could see how it turned out... (: keep us posted... I thought you could get to the trim clips from the back... read this: http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=2331682

My RX is dead. crappy pics inside (lots of fire)
oh man that sucks... nice that you got pictures of it though... (: waiting for the carcass pics... now I'm extra glad I ordered that 2-pack fire extinguisher from woot the other day...

Subaru 360 Microcar Extravaganza this weekend
that sounds like fun... I wonder if the wife would let me sneak off into the forest for a few hours... or maybe the kid is heavy enough to turn his car seat around and they can come along...
-
You probably haven't seen an EA81 cross-member like this before!
ooo, that's pretty... that would look great on my car with a bunch of oil dripping on it... (:

swaybar delete? let's hear the good/bad/ugly for sway bar removal...
well I was swapping my exhaust and decided it was a good time to remove that sway bar... I don't even notice on the road... maybe that's because half the rubber on it was shot... the middle body mounts had been pounded and bent backwards so much I had to use a wrench instead of a socket to get them off... but it came off real easy... haven't been offroad yet but I'm sure it'll help a little... was gonna scrap it but I'll take the advice and hold onto it for projects requiring bent metal bars... (:

WV trip
cool pictures... I like the ones of it being loaded, with luggage and rider on the roof... hehe... the bridge picture it great... and I love that you took the forester down the river... would love to get mine off road a bit more for some comfy forest time...
