EA81 doesn't start after running out of fuel
jonas replied to 83pickle's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
how fast is it killing your battery? try a jump start or a known fresh/good battery. if it fires right up, or at least fairly easily, that would point me towards weak batt/alt. A crappy fully charged battery isnt going to give you much starting power. -
He'll be looking for a long time....

Sometimes they come up for sale here, but they go fast. Keep an eye out at wrecking yards. That's where i found mine.

I saw clip and screw sets at Knechts.

I have an '85 Brat as well. I'll show you mine if you show me yours......

Check the vacuum lines. Sounds like a leak somewhere. I would seriously look at a Weber upgrade. Plenty of info here on it. No idea on how long you have let it run since restarting it but i would put a little fresh fuel in it and see if that smoothes it out, as well as a new cap and rotor (they are cheap), the basic tune-up stuff if you haven't already. Check your disty for wobble as well.

Just screws. I see no reason you can't use bolts if that makes you feel more comfortable. Oh, and for all your legal needs....www.bettercallsaul.com

So i'm assuming it ran fine till you parked it?

It actually uses a screw with a hex head. I would do something stainless or aluminum. Drive the brat there and ask to test fit. Wish I had front flaps for my Brat. Maybe Santa this year?

Thanks OSF, I'm a *********************. I know exactly what you are talking about. I forgot to re-attach it. It's blowing nice and toasty now! I'll know fer sure when I actually take it out on the road tomorrow and put it thru it's paces. -
Could be. Try using your signals with it out. Shouldn't work at all. Here's a pic of a replacement. They're dirt cheap.

STILL BLOWING COLD!!!!!!! WHATTHE************!!!!!! IT'S SIMPLE ************ING TECHNOLOGY!!!!!! New core-check! New hoses-check! Heater control valve operational-check! All hoses hot to the touch-check! Stuck fingers in to feel heater core. it's hot-check! Is there something by the blower that regulates how much fresh air is allowed in? 'cause something being stuck open is all that's left that i can think of. -

Well, the crimp wasn't the culprit. Got the old core out. New one is definitly easier to blow air thru the new one.
