  1. adjust your idle. prolly just got ramped up when someone, for whatever reason, decided to plug it.
  2. would be awesome wouldn't it? wish i had the fabbing skillz for something like that.
  3. started up the '81 brat today. been a long time. forgot how peppy the motor was. a real leaker, carb is crap but ran like a top when on the road. got me thinking of swapping motor into my '84 wagon instead of going CCR. the brat motor has 187,171. was wondering if i do this, should i replace head gaskets while out even tho i have no current issues? my basic school of thought is if it ain't broke, don't fix it. on the other hand with those miles (daily driver btw) am thinking i'm just looking for trouble sooner than later thinking i'll just start getting five and dimed. now if i do CCR i could have a motor that will hold on for many more years. damn i hate being poor and cheap!!!
  4. something like this but for my wagon. it's a tire and can carrier.
  5. i have an '84 wagon and always thought it would be cool to have one of those gate style spare tire carriers like you see on the back jeeps. angeled up over the rear window for the spare to be mounted to.. not mounted to the actual hatch, never get it open, and the sheet metal on the soob is pretty thin to mount something on, so i thought maybe a bar mounted under the rear and running up the side. am i making sense?
  6. well, looks like i have some head gasket issues. getting a little oil in the radiator and black gunk collecting around the radiator cap. was just going to replace gaskest, but knowing me, while apart i would want new valves, a spark plug hole the threads are messed up,etc,etc.... so i figure i may as well go fresh while i have a little cash. anyone in the eugene oregon area know of good rebuilder/exchangers? it's an EA81 out of an '84 wagon. talked to CCR a little bit about upgrading the HP on it while i'm at it. was quoted around 1k minus shipping. lack time, space to do a full rebuild myself at this time. so what you all say??
  7. hmm, interesting. i am currently using Redline 75w90. would that be causing my tranny to get stuck in gear? i mean i can get it out of gear but i really have to bang on it. and it doesn't do it all the time. the 75w90 did seem pretty thick to me. i think i'll swap fluid this spring and see what happens.
  8. nice pair of hatches! is that a breeding pair? if so i call dibs on one of the pups! i want an '84 to match my wagon.
  9. very nice. something about a soob in the snow......
  10. nice score! a comfortable feeling when there is a soob in the driveway huh?
  11. www.ccrengines.com thinking of getting one myself this summer. but then you prolly already know about them. =)
  12. actually if you scroll down further there is a list of all soobs that the core will fit, and it's quite a bit of them. but anyway hope you find one!
  13. Heater Core 1980-1989 Subaru DL/Justy/GL/XT-6/Brat </IMG>
  14. that may be a little difficult. the numbering on the guages comes yellowish orange from the factory. prolly would come out purple-ish, which could be cool! all i did was use a red permenant marker on the back of the numbering and on the bulbs themselves.
  15. and i did just score some factory subaru front mud flaps that i'll be installing this weekend.
  16. i love the rack, but would like to pop it off to put a good coat of wax on. and i would like to HAVE the ability to remove it if i wished. but i'll prolly be mounting some lights on it anyway. p.s. boosted84 is thinking of selling his matching '84 turbo wagon if your interested.....
  17. HOLY RUSTED HATCH BATMAN! damn east coast salt!
  18. reviving old thread..... cool old Schlitz Beer tap handle, fits like a glove!! next up i changed my dash lights from that crappy orange to a "Cylon Eye" red. turned out very well i think.
  19. tell them your "press" from an online "subaru site" or stretch it and say "magazine" and was wanting to do a write-up with photos on the cars/owners and such.
  20. yeah, i hear you guys. all i'm running now are all seasons which do great in the rain. most of my driving is highway miles. but i do plan on putting a lift in and bigger wheels for a more agro tread. the road i travel is notoriously treacherous, known as "Blood Alley."
  21. something like this? don't know who's that is but i always thought that XT6 was waayyy cool!
  22. cool. post 'em if you got 'em! if you look carefully you can see my '81 brat behind the shrub in front of the jeep in the second pic. or not, lol! *Edit for spelling*
