  1. we just had a thread on the legacycentral bbs about the manual button, and ciper seems to think/discovered that when the manual button is depressed the TCU uses the 1st gear map for 2nd, and 2nd gear map for 3rd. The reason he says this is due to the fact the car won't down shift....like you described. I don't recall the thread url, but if you look in the drivetrain forum on the legacycentral bbs, you should find something. if not let me know.
  2. read the info on my site http://www.surrealmirage.com/subaru/trans.html#powerlight David, The vsp1 is the rear speed sensor. Clear the codes and see if it comes back. The rear speed sensor is in the tail shaft of the tranny. You can replace it, it's on the outside of the tranny. It would affect shifting and AWD
  3. if the power light blinks on startup, there's a problem that the trans computer is picking up. you can read how to get the codes from my site. http://www.surrealmirage.com/subaru/trans.html
  4. The whole cap is an electro magnet. the valve never is fully open or fully closed, it is always rotating open or closed, just how fast that is done is controlled by the ECU, and that electro magnet. I can pretty much guarantee you that vacuum is not sucking the valve closed. With the valve off the car, & cap still on, the valve is pretty much stuck half way open/closed. This is done by electro magnet top.
  5. I don't know the answer, but you may want to look over at the svx network http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/
  6. yeah, you can go to the dealer, give them your vin and cut you a new key
  7. yeah.....iac valve is not controlled or affected by vacuum. it's solely controlled by the ECU. I can watch the duty % of the IAC valve on my select monitor.....everythings handled by the ecu.
  8. please refer to the links posted by alias, and utilize the search engine. thanks
  9. don't touch the throttle stop screw......clean the IAC valve.....if you still have problems, check the IAC valve

  11. I'd suggest http://www.cvaxles.com Just replaced my axles, and they are very good....they do rally cars as well as overseas work. If you get your axles there, ask them to include new roll pins and axle nuts....they normally don't include unless you ask. I took the two bolts off for the struts......My alignment may be off slightly, but I scribed the spindle so it's very damn close to where it was. I started doing the ball joint method and new it was going to be a major pain in the butt.
  12. nope, no change in power plants. There were misc sensors/parts that were updated throughout the 90-94 legacy model years, but nothing new
  13. Worked great. No side effects that I could see other then a clean engine. You saw the pics of the intake & heads when I did my injectors didn't you? I was really quite amazed at how clean it was down in and around the heads. Even on the valves, it was very clean considering the type of mileage that is on my car.
  14. yeah check o-rings and retrofitting does work. I am pretty sure I posted instructions on retrofitting my legacy....doing a search should show something.
  15. You can probably just find the connector output for the fuel pump, find out which one is the temp sensor, and then back probe it, and or check to see if it's working properly.
